To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive before checking in. Given its long history, I was concerned about outdated facilities and had braced myself for it. However, the reality was far beyond my expectations. The hotel's maintenance is impeccable; both the lobby and the guest rooms are spotlessly clean and tidy, with no hint of wear or age. The front desk staff was exceptionally attentive, confirming my preferred view, orientation, and floor. They also kindly warned me about ongoing subway construction nearby and helped me choose a quieter room, ultimately upgrading my room – a truly delightful surprise.

We stayed here during the National Day holiday. There weren't enough cleaning staff, and even though check-in was delayed until 3 PM, our room still wasn't ready. It finally got cleaned around 4 PM. They blamed it on the large crowds during the holiday, but the room rate also doubled. For 3700 a night, this check-in experience was definitely a drawback.
The positive side is that the hotel offers great recreational experiences. Guests have unlimited access to both parks, and the water park even has express pass access, though the forest park doesn't. Many of the outdoor hot springs require climbing stairs, which isn't ideal for older guests, and the pools are quite small. Ironically, the in-room private pool is much larger, and the two pools of water are sufficient. This hotel is more suitable for families with slightly older children. If you're traveling with elderly people, the hot springs might not be a highlight. The butler's responses were quite prompt.From€138

I arrived at 7:30 PM and was warmly greeted by a middle-aged (actually quite young) lady in a black suit uniform, Ms. [0573 Hu Baodi]! Other restaurant staff informed me that hotel guests receive a 10% discount on dining, and on Teachers' Day, September 10th, teachers with relevant identification would also receive a discount.
After dinner, I suddenly had a craving for mooncakes... I saw that mooncakes were on the menu... After inquiring with the staff, I learned that mooncakes were selling fast, in high demand, and some varieties were already out of stock... The restaurant manager, upon learning of this, quickly provided a solution – to check the inventory records in the warehouse and help me find the relevant products... It was already 9:15 PM, only 15 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM. The restaurant manager could have easily brushed me off with excuses like ”out of stock” or ”sold out”... However, this manager did not! Instead, she responsibly handled the issue and tried her best to meet the customer's needs! She personally plated the mooncakes, brought cutlery, and thoughtfully said, ”Closing time is 9:30 PM, but we can extend it by 10-15 minutes if needed!” I couldn't help but ask, ”Why is your restaurant service so good?! Won't this delay your off-duty time?” She replied, ”15 minutes is definitely not enough to eat mooncakes... that would be too rushed...” This manager also enthusiastically helped us change to a fresh pot of tea! When she learned that we were hotel guests, the manager said, ”Then you should enjoy your meals and drinks even more at the hotel restaurant!”... ”Coming to the restaurant is like coming home for a meal!” I never expected such a broad mind and high-level perspective from this restaurant manager! This service philosophy of ”leaving convenience for guests and trouble for oneself” is truly touching! What's more, I never expected a hotel restaurant manager to treat hotel guests like family! I believe this restaurant is not only dedicated to serving in-house guests but also provides a ”home away from home” experience for every customer who dines there!

I first learned about Mandarin Oriental because of Leslie Cheung, and since the Guangzhou property happened to be quite reasonably priced, I booked a one-night stay to experience it.
Let's start with the pros: The location is fantastic. It's right above Shipaiqiao Metro Station, with direct access to the hotel from the ground floor of Taikoo Hui. There are all kinds of shopping malls surrounding it, and it's not far from the Guangdong Museum, Canton Tower, and the Guangzhou Museum of Art. The young ladies at the front desk were very warm and greeted us with bright smiles. They promptly changed our room and even helped us with the elevator. There are soft stools inside the elevators, which are convenient for placing bags or for elderly guests to sit on. The room layout is quite regular, the mattress is comfortable, the linens are clean, and they didn't trigger any allergies. The curtains are button-operated and provide great blackout coverage. The bathtub comes with bath salts (though I'd suggest adding disposable bathtub liners). The welcome fruit was varied and tasted great.
Now for the cons: The soundproofing in the room is poor. The TV and voices from next door were very clear (the woman next door must have been like a lawyer, talking loudly for hours into the night). There are way too many mirrors in both the lobby and the rooms, making it a bit easy to get disoriented. The body lotion is in a large pump bottle fixed to the vanity, which is inconvenient to use and impossible to take home as a souvenir. The tea is bagged; I'd recommend adding large ceramic mugs with handles or offering loose-leaf tea. Only canned mineral water is provided—it would be better to add bottled water specifically for making tea. All the drinks in the fridge are chargeable; nowadays people care about health and don't drink that many anyway, so they could stock fewer cans and offer them to guests for free.
Finally, the highlight was the breakfast. Both the Chinese and Western kitchens were authentic—I polished off two bottles of yogurt alone. If you have time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, you should definitely book a room here.From€239

In the luxury hotel landscape of Guangzhou, Jumeirah has always been a understated player. It doesn't perch atop Guangzhou like Rosewood or Four Seasons, dominating with commanding tower views, nor does it possess the trending ambiance or master designs of Park Hyatt or Mandarin Oriental. Yet, without vying for attention, it consistently garners many excellent reviews.
I found its overall appeal to be comprehensive, warm, and attentive. I booked a unique duplex suite, but upon arrival at 4 PM, no room was immediately available. Instead of making me wait, the front desk immediately offered an upgrade to a two-level higher, Guangzhou Tower View Executive Suite. This initial upgrade was a pleasant surprise. James from the hotel explained their service philosophy to me, and I truly felt that sense of care and service dedication towards guests.
My 03-ending tower view suite was very spacious and well-laid out. The tower view was glimpsed through the gaps of the APM building, offering a somewhat veiled, 'pipa half-hidden' charm compared to a direct view of the Canton Tower. While the room's design isn't as distinct as MO or Rosewood, it prioritizes comfort, featuring wood, lattice, and orange accents that are still very appealing and comfortable.
The service was a highlight. From the doormen, lobby staff, front desk, to housekeeping, everyone was polite and smiling. Guest relations added me on WeChat and responded quickly. When I asked the gym front desk staff about the outdoor pool, they didn't just point the way; they enthusiastically escorted me, taking the elevator, changing floors, and walking through an entire floor to the apartment's outdoor pool.
The harp performance during breakfast was indeed delightful, and while the food variety wasn't extensive, it was exquisite.
Overall, Jumeirah truly surprised me this time, adding another excellent option for my Guangzhou staycations.From€230

The hotel's location is truly exceptional, situated in the city center, making it very convenient for getting around, dining, and shopping. The hotel's cuisine is rich and delicious; both breakfast and other meals were very much to our liking. The overall service was professional and courteous, and we felt meticulous care everywhere.
I especially want to thank Katrina Lu! We were traveling with elderly family members who are a bit slow-moving. After she understood our situation, she was very considerate and proactively helped us apply for a late check-out, so we didn't have to rush and could fully accommodate the seniors' energy levels. She was also very enthusiastic and patiently and thoroughly introduced us to nearby attractions, authentic local cuisine, and transportation routes. The information was practical and down-to-earth, greatly assisting our trip.
Her service wasn't just a mechanical process; it came from a genuine desire to consider the guests' needs, fully demonstrating China Hotel's excellent management standards and staff qualities. Such a dedicated and good employee deserves strong recognition! I kindly request the General Manager to commend Katrina Lu, and if conditions permit, I hope she can be given a bonus as encouragement.

I originally planned to stay at the Mandarin Oriental, but due to the Canton Fair, rooms were fully booked, so I ended up choosing the W Hotel instead. It actually turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Both check-in and room service were exceptionally smooth and prompt, which is quite different from the stereotypical image of a W Hotel. Perhaps my memory fails me, but it felt like the decor had also been updated. After mentioning an issue with the room view to the front desk, they promptly changed my room, and the view was fantastic. The staff were all very polite, greeting us warmly whenever we came and went. I am thoroughly satisfied with this stay. The overall hotel environment was clean and quiet, with no excessive disturbances other than the turndown service reminder, which I appreciated. The minibar had a great variety of items. The only minor drawback was that the hotel provided ceramic mugs instead of separate crystal or glassware. I stayed for 5 days and didn't feel the need to switch hotels at all. Overall, it was very comfortable, the surrounding commercial district is very convenient, and the front desk service was professional and efficient.
Special thanks to Gabby for helping me arrange a late check-out. I caused some trouble due to my personal itinerary and asked for a slight extension, which was handled very quickly! Came to this hotel to celebrate my wife's birthday. The front desk service was quite efficient, didn't have to wait long, and they even upgraded us to a Guangzhou Tower view room for free! The view was spectacular!

This trip, I stayed at the Hilton with my mother for her birthday celebration in Guangzhou. The hotel's location is excellent; it's very quick to get to Beijing Road, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and Canton Tower, and there are many local delicacies to enjoy nearby.
The hotel manager thoughtfully arranged birthday decorations for us! Since I had informed the hotel in advance that I was bringing a baby, they also prepared a crib, a separate small pillow, and a blanket for us, which was very heartwarming 🫶. The room was also very quiet, and the high-floor view was fantastic. The room amenities were complete. I especially want to thank the cleaning staff that day; because the little one needed formula, she thoughtfully prepared a lot of purified water. Thank you very, very much!!
The hotel is fully equipped with a pool and gym, both of which I tried out. The pool water was very clean, located on the 8th floor, with separate shallow and deep sections. The view was expansive, and it was very comfortable to swim in the morning. There were also lifeguards on site, and separate spacious and well-equipped changing rooms for men and women.
The gym was on the same floor, and the basic equipment was quite comprehensive. Working out while looking at the city view outside the window was very refreshing.
The hotel's spa experience was also excellent. I chose a 90-minute essential oil massage. The environment was quiet, the masseuse was professional, and I felt very relaxed afterward.
