Casa Das Lérias ★★★★
"The hotel is located in the centre of Amarente."
Des Arts ★★
"We had a teeny room, the parking was far from the hotel which made it hard for my husband who uses a cane, and the hotel was far from the town. Plus there was a car race that went by the hotel all day and was going to be there the next day also. We left after a night and the hotel told us they would refund us for the second night but they never did."
Peso Village ★★★★
"Booked at the last minute given changes in plans. Great for a getaway, definitely need a vehicle as the trek up the property is challenging (as is wheeling baggage!). The staff is very welcoming, including the resident cat. Breakfast comes in a basket outside your door, cat and peacock come for free 😂"
Casa da Calçada ★★★★★
"The hotel facilities, especially the indoor pool and spa was exceptional. The recent full refurbishment of this hotel is excellent. The outdoor terrace is fantastic for drinks. A truly luxurious experience, supported by wonderfully friendly staff. Use the hotel's electric bicycles to go for a cycles along the river. Breakfast was wonderful, too! Only criticism: Its hard to know where to go when you arrive. Some information before arrival would have been helpful. (You need to pull up to the big wooden gate and press the intercom)"
Covelo - the Original Rooms and Suites ★★
"Covelo …The original rooms , accommodation was in an excellent location , close to all the local amenities and attractions. The local bus depot was just around the corner and within easy walking distance. The cobblestone street itself had lots of bars ,restaurants , bakeries and shops, and is in fact , over 1,000 years old. The accommodation was very well presented. It was spotless clean and had all the facilities that would be needed for our short stay. The room was cleaned on a regular basis and toiletries and towels replaced. The small balcony allowed us to sit outside with our coffee in the morning, and enjoy a glass of wine outside in the evening. Our host Joao greeted us when we arrived. He was very friendly and informative. He spent some time with us, highlighting the local activities, places of interest and recommending local bars and restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble for Joao. We would most definitely go back to Amarante, we were very happy with our room, and would also stay in the same accommodation . We found that not only was the accommodation reasonably priced, but the same must be said for everything else in the city, including the food and the wine."
Hotel Navarras ★★★
"Fantastic welcome, impeccable hotel cleanliness, attentive staff who made our stay as pleasant as possible, perfect breakfast with regional specialties. Thank you, I highly recommend the Hotel Navares."
Casa do Fontao ★★★
"If you are planning to explore Porto and the Douro Valley, include Amarante in your itinerary. It is an exceptionally charming town with an exceptionally charming guest house: Casa do Fontao. The house, which features a formal and informal dining room, a cozy sitting room, spectacular views from the terrace and patio, and beautiful gardens, is located in a residential area of Amarante overlooking valleys, hills, and towns. It is about 10 minutes by car from Amarante, or you can walk to the town if you prefer. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the owner Doña Luisa, who had set up a table with cheese, homemade jam, wine, pastries, and nuts as our welcome treat. Once we relaxed and ate, Doña Luisa guided us to our suite, which was spacious, beautifully decorated with antique furniture, and a large bathroom. The views from our room's windows were nothing less than breathtaking. Walking around the property transports you back to a time of splendor and grace. The house has been restored and updated without losing its original essence. Doña Luisa was a warm and caring hostess. Being around her felt more like being around a grandmother who makes you feel warm and cared for, and who wants to spoil you by cooking a delicious breakfast to get you going in the morning. When we first stepped through the main door, Doña Luisa exclaimed that Casa do Fontao was the best guest house in Amarante. We could not agree more. "
Quinta de Carcavelos Natures Home ★★★
"Situated in an quiet location, lovely introductions, great rooms, beautiful swimming pool and the best breakfast from our 2 week trip in Portugal. You need to be aware that it is a quiet location, so no immediate action around…. but when you are prepared for that…… Excellent!"
AboimHouse ★★★
