"The hotel is high on Monte Verita; the view is really beautiful. The quiet location is great. The tea garden is also worth seeing. Unfortunately, at arrival we were not informed or instructed where the breakfast room was. It was not a nice reception. The information flowed more than delicate. The thin info film in the room is not complete. We could take our dog with; that was already positive. However, we received nothing for the dogs' pause; no water in the room, no dog bed, no welcome goods. On Saturday, a wedding society was found. Nothing negative, just that we did not find a parking place when we returned from dinner. There would the hotel guests have to find at least a reserved parking place? On Sunday, at beautiful weather, the table was covered for breakfast. Without questioning whether this would be OK for us... Generally unfriendly staff. The rooms without balcony with original building furniture and lamps. The bathroom is very uncomfortable. To shower you need to go practically over the toilet to get into the bathtub. The window cannot be opened. The furnace, from the last century, is also expected to be accualized. All in all simply lacks a quantine style and enthusiasm."

"We booked 3 nights at this hotel and I was a bit apprehensive having read previous reviews but what a wonderful, positive surprise. We were picked up at the train station by the hotel courtesy service. Greeted by the reception staff and offered a welcome Prosecco or soft drink and snack. The room with large balcony overlooking the spectacular scenery was very nice indeed, including outdoor futniture. The room was spacious, extremely clean, modern, very comfortable bed, little bouquet of fresh flowers, selection of fresh fruits and sweets. A kettle was provided on request. Bathroom was large with all amenities. Breakfast was super with selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts, muesli, cereals, cold meats and cheeses, salmon, eggs, pastries and more. We had dinner in the hotel two nights (because the first night was so good) and the choice as well as the food was excellent. Compliments to the chef and his team. The gardens are beautifully maintained with sun loungers dotted around as well as around the pool area also with magnificent view. There is a very pretty pergola with outdoor seating where you can enjoy food or drinks overlooking the pool and wonderful scenery beyond. I paid particular attention to the staff due to previous reviews and found them somewhat surly although helpful and professional. However, we did get a bright smiley good morning from a guy who hoovering the corrider which compensated nicely. Also the lady who greeted us at breakfast and dinner was very friendly and chatty (I think she is a member of the family who owns the hotel) which I think is a nice touch. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk down to Ascona centre and lake, probably a 15 minutes steep walk back up which we enjoyed as a form of exercise. The hotel provides a courtesy shuttle service on request also to and from Locarno train station We have visited this hotel a few times over the years and it just gets better and better. Well done team Ascona! We are already looking forward to the next visit and highly recommend it. A few more smiles from the staff, a show of friendliness and it would be perfect."

"The stay in the hotel was very disappointing, the parking spaces were poorly organized and the rooms were very noisy. As soon as we arrived we had to look for another parking space because they were very narrow and the car didn't fit in the parking space. Despite being reassigned to a parking space, our parking space number was re-occupied after a day trip and we had to look for a parking space again. In addition to the problems with the parking spaces, our room neighbors were extremely loud until early in the morning. Despite complaining several times at reception and directly pointing out to the neighbors that the rooms were very noisy, we had to cut our stay short under these unpleasant circumstances. Despite all these inconveniences, the hotel did not accept a refund for the night we did not stay. Since some of the staff were very friendly and helpful, I am giving our stay two stars... otherwise it would have been one star at most for this experience. Maybe we were just unlucky..."

"😊4 night stay ( April 28th). Great service from walking in the door on the 28th to departing on May 2nd😊👍.. Everything about Casa Berno is 1st class ⭐.. Spotless throughout, with a level of service that was equally ⭐... It is easy to see why Ulrike, who manages the restaurant ,has been at the hotel for over 30 years..in a word she was outstanding!😊. There is plenty more I could say.. but maybe just try it for yourself 😊👍⭐. Ps: thankyou to everyone 😊"

"The rooms are never ready before 4pm reception staff is not into hospitality and no manager on site-I like the restaurant and pool but given the fact that always there’s a wait for the room shows either bad organization or cheap behaviour not having enough cleaning personell it’s my third time same experience travelling the world they made it to top spot on the list for such lack of hospitality"
