The facilities themselves aren't bad, but this infestation makes the stay impossible. I alerted the hotel, but they deny the existence of bugs, so they will probably continue to exist because they won't do the kind of cleaning geared towards this type of infestation. "Nice accommodation spread out in converted farm buildings. Fantastic gardens with fruit trees and vines. Very pleasant welcome. Tips: ask for the remote control for the aircon. They are not routinely given out. I would hesitate to recommend the food offering at dinner. Great presentation, but precooked and microwaved. We were left hungry. Breakfast was also a little spartan. We had a 'second breakfast' enroute. Certainly wouldn't put anyone off staying here, just be aware of the limitations of the kitchen."

"We arrived at Balugães on the Camino and contacted the hotel for help in getting there. Whilst it is only 3km away the walk takes about 45 minutes part of which is along a busy main road. The hotel kindly sorted out transport for us. On arrival, our host noticed that my daughter and I had booked a room with a double bed and quickly tried to exchange our room for twin beds. Set in a secluded location with lovely views, which included an old viaduct, before we knew it we were seated by the pool resting our weary bones. We were joined by other guests and were happy to chat with them. Our room was clean and comfortable and furnished in the traditional manner in what it appeared to be an old stable. Whilst the room was fairly dark we were only there to sleep and we had everything we needed. I was concerned that the mattress was rather firm but in the end I slept like a log, possibly because it was so quiet. Dinner was served in the very grand dining hall. We were seated at the table with the other guests and enjoyed a lovely evening. All the diners were walkers and we bumped into them, at different times, later on in our Camino. The food was good Portuguese fare. Breakfast was simple and, in my opinion, there was nothing lacking. We left the hotel fully satisfied."

"Quinta da Cancela is a nice bed & breakfast. I enjoyed my stay, the quality of the room, bed, diner and breakfast. But the situation at the gate to the parking for visitors is obscure and very dangerous! On entering the gate there was an unstable metal door which caused expensive damage to the right side of my car. The owner seemed willing to compensate for the damage through his insurance, But he betrayed my trust. I did not receive an answer. Driving out the parking lot there is no visibility of traffic from the left due to a curve, vegetation and minimal distance. A mirror across the road could help but is missing. Even the employees park their cars in the owner's small private car park. That proves I am not the only one complaining about this situation."

"This is a disaster, we booked a room and the hotel, a woman in particular, refused us access as soon as she got our IDs. She spoke to us very rudely. We ended up without a reservation with our children, knowing that we had already paid. We don't understand. This hotel is a scam. Avoid it."
