"WOW! This was the last hotel we stayed in during a tour of Sri Lanka. Like the other Taru Villas hotel in Maia, the staff were always polite and couldn't do enough to be helpful. The deputy manager was always coming up to us checking that everything was to our liking. I think we had the best room in the hotel! With only 9 rooms it was never going to feel crowded, which is the way we like it. Ask for smaller portions, or expect to put on weight! As this was part of a tour package, individual hotel prices were not identified, so I can't comment on value. I've included just one photo, which was the view as we arrived."

"The hotel is well-known, a little old, but the area and overall atmosphere are normal. The price/quality ratio is reasonable. An excellent restaurant overlooking the ocean and a very strange restaurant where breakfast and dinner are held (reviews on Google maps) confirm this. The beach is a little dirty, but this is not a problem of the hotel but of the local population in general."

"One order was placed for the same three superior garden view rooms with twin beds. When we arrived at the hotel, they were all far apart. The hotel front desk said they received three orders. After checking in, we found that only one room had the garden view shown in the picture. One of the other two rooms had a balcony with a built-up wall, and the other had a king-size bed. The garden view was changed to a lake view, which was said to be an upgrade. We contacted the platform and negotiated with the hotel, but they said they were full and could not change. Finally, the platform compensated for two rooms. We hope that the platform will strengthen supervision of agents in the future to avoid such messy situations. It is a waste of time."

"This hotel was the perfect stay for us for 2 weeks. My husband had a shoulder op before we arrived, so we needed somewhere that would be relaxing, near the beach, chilled out, and would be a safe place to be stress free. The Muse ticked every single box. The team here is phenomenal. They were on hand at all times, very attentive without being intrusive. Delicious breakfast served every morning by the fabulous Maheth on our patio area, he made sure we had everything we needed, even my own special milk. Every afternoon, we had stunning tea or coffee with homemade pastries, and their dinner menu was pure perfection. Our very comfortable room was VIP with the jacuzzi, which was my sanctuary. Whilst my husband rested, I lazed in there reading and let the stresses slip away. The beautiful clean beach is 2 mins walk, always a free sunbed & a member of the team who brings ice lollies. The room cleaners were on hand for everything, nothing is too much trouble here. The management and team are probably the best I have ever experienced one even entertained us with his dancing, thankyou The Muse, highly recommend to everyone "

"We loved the proximity to such a wonderful beach, which was beautiful clean and undisturbed. The service at the resort was top notch, ranging the poolside personnel who took care of all over needs to housekeeping who were attentive and proactive in their cleaning and tidying. We were also impressed by the facilities - the pools were fantastic as was the buffet meals. Special shout out to yoga master Roland, who conducted a bespoke class for us and was able to cater to our different levels of flexibility and technique.  His manner also made us feel extremely at home - thank you Roland!"

"Beautifully kept, very clean spacious rooms with large sit outs. The Hopper Benedicts were really yummy, the contity of rice in the "slow cooked jaggery beef with coconut rice" should be reduced and the beef increased as it's called "slow cooked beef" Overall all the service staff were very courteous, prompt and obliging - a special mention of Sahas and Kavindu as they went out of their way to make our stay a special one."

"Very clean, comfortable and spacious room, the food was great, they made us non spicy versions of everything, they helped me with the beach flee bites, with cutting off some aloe vera leaves, they even let us stay in our room longer, until 9p.m. The beach is very near, the front yard is fabulous, ans the pool was cleaned every day. The staff was really really great and helpful. What we couldn't read about, when we booked the hotel is that the train passes right next to it (so my ear pluggs really helped), the beach was pretty dirty (but we were there out of season) and at the reception, for the last two days, there was a guy knowing zero English. He didn't even understand to call someone who does. But anyway, we would go there again"

"We spent 3 nights here at the end of a busy trip travelling around. It was the perfect location to end our holiday. The hotel felt calm and peaceful, the gardens were beautiful and the pool was a great size to swim proper laps. The beach was just across the railway tracks and again was very quiet and relaxing. As other people have mentioned the trains do run past the hotel but we didn’t find that it disturbed us at all. We actually loved seeing them! All the staff were attentive without being intrusive and happy to assist us with anything we needed. It was easy to get a Tuk Tuk into the town when we wanted to go out. We would have loved a few more nights here."
