Balkan Hotel

Upon entering it seemed okay, spacious and kept at the reception, all that changed when entering our ‘room’. At first we were hit with this awful smell from a plug in air freshener, it was very strong so we just unplugged it, the windows were painted shut so we couldn’t open them to air the room out, the wallpaper was peeling of the walls, damp stains on the ceilings, dirty carpets, filthy and cracked windows, dead flies on them and on the floor. There was a sign in the bathroom that said you must shut the door if you were to shower because the shower would set the fire alarm off and if it did you will be fined £50. The issue here is that the door had no latch in it so couldn’t be shut anyway and more to the point, if you come here with young kids, it is not safe to do so just to avoid a £50 fine? The bed was okay, clean fresh sheets. We stayed only one night out of the 2 as it was too late to book somewhere else but we did the following day. There was also no kettle, I’ve never known a ‘hotel’ that did not provide a kettle. Below basic, did not see any staff to complain but I wouldn’t have anyway, they did seem like nice people when we first got there. We learnt just before we left why the plug in was so strong, before handing the keys back I decided to use the loo, when returning to the room to do so, we was hit with the foulest damp smell I have ever come across. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, atleast until some work has been done to improve the condition of the rooms, however, it’s a bed to sleep in if you need too I suppose, and the bed is probably the only thing I cannot fault. I would definitely stay away with children though, or if you have breathing difficulties such as asthma.

Dirty bed linen and no towels. All went downhill upon arrival at the room. The bed was unmade and was dirty, it appeared as if a tramp had recently voted the room, the were used towels on the bed also. When we complained they gave us a much smaller room, with no towels. When we asked why there were no towels, the receptionist said "towels are not provided '. Fortunately beds were provided with the booking.

DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! As other reviews have stated....they will cancel your booking on the morning of arrival. We went anyway just to check but they had given our rooms to other people of their choosing. We didn't listen to the reviews on here and we regretted it. Walked round Blackpool for an hour trying to find somewhere with vacancies. You've been warned.

Booked a visit to Blackpool, arrived at hotel and they cancelled our room even though it was pay on arrival…no communication from them at all. Staff were very unprofessional throughout the process. Avoid at all costs to avoid disappointment

Think very carefully before booking this hotel,whilst I have no doubts that staff are very nice and have good intentions. The facilities leave a lot to be desired. The room was abysmal. Poorly decorated and with cheap badly painted furniture. The bed looked like it had been rescued from a skip, with a large board to support the mattress. The bedding was low cost and grubby. We spent around 30 minutes in the place , before relocating to another hotel. The experience cost me £90. They require payment prior to arrival. Don’t be fooled by good photographs, when you see it in real life you will see the real Balkan Hotel. Don’t pay upfront, if you are tempted ring and tell them you will pay on arrival and make your own mind up. There sre much better places to stay in Blackpool on a budget.

Filthy rooms bed lice well what can I say just look at the pictures after being bitten by bed lice found another place to stay i urge anyone not to stay at this hotel also breaks G.D.P.R. Regulations by leaving Everyones personal details and Information open to public viewing in an un manned reception, Smells of damp beds see pictures very disrespectful owners refused to speak to me had to find another hotel due to being bitten by bed lice Had to Leave found another hotel very very disrespectful owner refused to speak about conditions no wardrobes no lift very bad damp smell no heating no hot water very very bad street loads of noise most of the night into very very early hours no clean towels no clean bedding after first day roomed not cleaned.

Arrived and was greeted by the son of the owners who was very polite,the rooms were slightly dated but clean an adequate for the amazing price,the bar was great as were the owners❤️✅I would definitely go back too this place because it was extremely friendly and a wee bit of the 70s look made me smile

Well where do we begin, an absolute dump, avoid at all cost, absolute disgrace they said they accept debit cards but I was made to go to the cash machine to pay for the 3 rooms, then the rooms was absolutely dirty, the bed was held by ply Wood under the dirty mattress, dust everywhere holes in the wall, the owner didn't want to talk to us when we complained, wall paper peeling off, floors bowing in. If you have problems with your lungs don't go me and my mother in law both have copd and we felt really bad, also if you stay there then be prepared to be bit, please don't waste your money please look at the photos

Arrived on friday having booked for 2 nights on arrival was asked for Id so gave my bank card o payed with even though they had taken payment on the Monday when it was meant to be on arrival to be then asked for photo Id which I didn't have I had gotten the train, asked if I could get a picture sent off my passport was told no, so dispite the already taking payment the man was very rude and refused to let us stay would not recommend this place I have stayed in loads off hotels in blackpool and never had to give photo Id and had booked through *********** was left with no where to stay a disgrace basically theft
