The receptionist greeted me during his garden work wearing old jogging pants. The rooms were tiny, had outdated decor and zero soundproofing. The bathroom didn't even have towel hangers. The toilet was in dire need of a service. Wouldn't recommend this at all!

Hotel needs a complete renovation, room wasn’t clean and beds looked like they had already been slept in so didn’t stay, as no other suitable accommodation and was only refunded half what was paid. Went on to find another hotel. Wouldn’t recommend.

Booked from a friend's recommendation and was very happy with my stay. Check-in was easy and treated by some nice staff. The rooms are massive and very nicely decorated, showers nice and warm with great pressure. Bed was very comfy, and everything was clean. Room was a bit hot with the windows open but they do provide a fan (Mine had some writing on it saying it belonged to Rachel and said not to move), but I am very glad someone had as it helped massively. For the price with breakfast and parking, you really can't beat it.

Tired property in need of major refurbishment, though bedrooms and the bathrooms were clean as was the towels and bedding despite the outdated decor. Rooms were extremely warm and we did have to open the window for comfort. Both bedrooms were spacious enough and both had a bath as well as an overbath shower, though I could not get the water to heat up. Our other guest's headboard was half hanging from the wall! Only stayed for one night as attending a local event. Parking at the rear was available and secure. The gardens were in need of a tidy, but given the recent weather could be excused. On arrival there was an ashtray outside the main door overflowing with cigarette buts, not a great initial welcome. The public areas downstairs were very dark, dingy and the type of ornaments did not help. Breakfast was available at an extra cost, we did not opt for that though it did smell nice. Price of one room without breakfast was £63, much cheaper than the hotels in the town but you get what you pay for. With some investment, it could be a goldmine. Location in a residential area, extra cost for taxis into town, but no charge for parking.

The good points: Huge room and bathroom, both clean and comfortable. Decent bed, although mattress too soft for my liking (personal preference). Huge TV but with dreadful intermittent WiFi despite there being a hub outside the door. Not too far from town centre and on a bus route. There is plenty of free parking at the rear of the hotel. Not so good Had to request a towel for the hubby as we were only given one and a hairdryer as there wasn't one in the room (ladies will understand how much a pain it is to drag your own bulky hairdryer). There was no WiFi code in room and when hubby mentioned it whilst getting a towel and hairdryer it wasn't offered. The heating was on all night and we couldn't turn it down/off and even with the windows open, it was quite stuffy. It is advertised as having breakfast but they had no chef. Shame, as the dining room was lovely. I'm surprised they didn't offer continental. The shower didn't work initially and when we mentioned it, we were told that it should as it was recently refurbished. When we did eventually get it to work, the water was freezing cold. An electric power shower should give instant hot water. Luckily there was a hand held shower attached to the tap. So we managed. A couple of things which I found slightly worrying. There was no evacuation procedure on the back of the door. Every hotel I have stayed in, both UK and abroad, has this on the door. There was a copy on the reception desk, but we didn't notice it until we were leaving. The other thing which my husband said could potentially be dangerous, was the piping to the taps. They were the wrong way round. They should be hot to the left, cold to the right. He's a construction manager, so knows about these things. The taps weren't marked so anyone with a visual impairment might be in for a shock. All in all, not a bad hotel but not brilliant either.

This was a speculative booking based on the cheapness of the room. It was reasonable value. The room was clean, but lacked quality in decor, fittings etc. it was on a busy road and so noisy. The bed was uncomfortable. Overall the place felt run down and lacking any quality of service … but it was cheap and clean so it did the job of a bed for the night.

The hotel was pretty easy to find and had a decent sized carpark tucked away behind the building. Check-in was quick and efficient but when I left there was no sign of a receptionist so I left the card on the receptionist's chair. The room was clean, warm and functional. The TV was a decent size though most channels were unavailable thanks to 'aerial' challenges. The card key was the type that gets reset when placed by a mobile phone which is usually ok though when I returned later there was no receptionist around when my card failed to open the hotel's front door on its first 4 attempts and the doorbell remained unanswered.
