"We were visiting south Italy and our flights had an overnight stay in Rome. I ended up booking a room at Villa Alma for the night as it is close to the airport. The taxi from the airport dropped us at the entrance to the street instead of driving us to the front of the building. The driver was also rude and dismissive. It was late when we arrived. So about 10:30pm. Normally check in to Villa Alma closes at 9pm but the owner (Opi??) was waiting for us outside to guide us to the building. Since the taxi did not take us all the way to the door, we were not clear which building to go to but Opi waiting for us outside really helped. Opi was furious that the taxi driver was rude and also made us walk. When we told him what we paid for the ride, he told us he overcharged us and that was wrong. He said he was planning to go to the airport in the morning so he could drop us off as well. We went for a walk and had dinner. This is a nice neighborhood with a canal running through it. It has bridges over it. The view is nice. Also there are plenty of restaurants and bars open in very easy walking distance. We enjoyed our walk a lot. It seems this neighborhood has some festivals in summer so it might be good to go back. Anyway the room was clean, smelled good, well maintained and overall pleasant. We stayed at the room in the first floor (half a flight of walk up) Opi had a breakfast ready for us when we got up in the morning. He had juice, filled croissants, yogurt, coffee, tea etc. Overall I would say the breakfast was nice. He ended up driving us to the airport (along with somebody who works there) as he promised and refused to take money to make up for the bad treatment we had by the taxi driver the night before. We insisted but he refused it. Such a nice guy who made us feel good and happy to meet him. In general I prefer to not to write negative only reviews. But I made sure to write when somebody goes above and beyond. So in general this stay was definitely a good one."

Poiano Garda Resort Appartamenti ★★★

"We have had a lovely week at Poiano. Myself, husband and twin girls aged 15. We went self catering so can not comment on the food, We found 4 gorgeous restaurants all within a 5-10 minute walk outside Poiano. Highly rate all of them but La Laterna was our favourite. We enjoyed the spa (they do family hour for €5 per person) all 4 of us also had the most gorgeous massage. The apartments are dated but very clean and the beds are so comfortable. The pool area is huge and we never had trouble getting sunbeds no matter what time we went. There is a shuttle bus taking you into Garda every 30 mins and return is the same. We never had a problem getting the bus I believe there were 2 running whilst we were there. We did swimming and Tennis but there is also football, Golf, Paddle ball, there is a kids club and pool activities throughout the day. There is a limited shop which is only open 8am-10am (it could really do with opening for a couple hours in an afternoon as well in my opinion). Absolutely everything is billed to your room (drinks, tennis, spa, food) absolutely everything so keep your receipts so you can go through the itemised bill you get when you check out, ours was spot on. The location and views are fantastic. All in all we have had a fantastic week and would definitely return."

"Very nice boutique hotel above Garda. Everything from the arrival at the new parking garage to the great breakfast buffet was above expectations. We had a room with view of the lake with Sirmione in the distance; the room had a modern decor , with balcony and a very comfy bed. We liked the shiny beautiful floor tiles. There was free use of the gym, the sauna, and the swimming pool. Im the evening, dinner was served in the gourmet bistrot. This was a nice experience, too. Good service and a superb wine list. Just beware there is a small road leading from the hillside down to Garda centre; this road gets busy at the weekends in particular, but it didn’t affect our overall great experience."

"We celebrated our 45th Wedding Anniversary at Madrigale Panoramic & Lifestyle Hotel and had the best time ever. The facilities and rooms were exceptional and location gave fantastic panoramic vies over the Garda Town and the Lake. The staff in all areas were very friendly and professional; they acted very promptly to all our requests/questions and went the extra mile to ensure we had the best time. We stayed in the Deluxe Suite, Lake View (Panorama , which was fantastic; this is the one to go for if you want that extra bit of luxury. We had dinner at the restaurant a couple of time during our stay and the food was excellent, as were the staff; the Maitre'D ensured we had the best possible service. Thanks to all the staff at the hotel, we had the fantastic time. I would highly recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed!"

"You get what you pay for. The mountain view was so underwhelming. But the pool and the restaurant were on so good spots. amazing view to the lake. Hotel has amazing wifi. Bit far from any convenience stores. would not recommend for people with no vehicles. Good staff. Some of the beds were clearly made for smaller people than a grown man. Amazing if you have kids or family!"
