"The Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère was established very early in the Belle Epo era and led the way for health tourism as wealthy Brits and other European aristocrats decamped for three month stays to breath the fresh mountain air. It with this charming history that we recently fulfilled our bucket list wish and stayed here. These are our thoughts on our two night stay. The hotel is located in world famous Davos, a town that grabs the world's spotlight every January with coverage of the annual World Economic Forum. The rest of the time, Davos is a quiet alpine town with largely deserted streets outside of the winter season. It was in this quiet phase that we stayed at the Grandhotel Belvédère in June, and the serenity was a misanthropes dream come true. The hotel had just reopened for the summer season and there were mostly small groups of pensioners as guests. This was all Ok as far as we were concerned, as a quiet grand hotel makes for a peaceful stay, We were greeted by the affable Helena at reception. The room we were allocated was a good size with everything one could need, though it must be said, rather dated and in need of renovation. The hotel bar/lounge area is where the hotel stars. A wonderful space with many Belle Epoque features still in place, and a grand fire place that dates back to 1875. We were greatly impressed by Yiannis who was always monitoring us to ensure we were comfortable and to take our drink and coffee orders. Yiannis is a charming young man who was always happy to engage and offer his expert knowledge on all questions asked about various beverages. It was in the bar we also met Benadikt, who appears to be the director of the bar and restaurants. Also a charming engaging man who clearly loves his work. We dealt with a lovely Thai (?) lady at breakfast on one of the days who was fantastic and an equally charming lady the next day, I regret not remembering their names to properly give them their due for their efforts. They were both fantastic. We unfortunately did not get to use the sauna or the pool, regrettably, but they are housed in an impressive building that is a continuation of the hotel building. Overall impression? Whilst we enjoyed our stay and the professionalism of the staff cannot be called into question, the hotel does require investment to bring it up to the standard befitting its Belle Epoque hey day. A high class renovation would do wonders to restore its place in the pantheon of the very best Swiss palace hotels. We will return, but not before the above is addressed and the hotel is once again the best in its class."

"We were with friends for 2 nights in two rooms in Solaria. They had gone there another time and the reservation was in their name. We were accommodated in room 2102. When we were checking in, we looked around the room, there is no check list of what is available such as glasses, dishes, furniture, chairs, coffee machines, etc. We left the hotel at 08:30 we left the key at the reception and no one wanted to see the room in what condition we leave it and what is available. After 3 hours of leaving, the amount of 400 CHF was withdrawn from our friends' card without warning and they received an email accusing us of moving chairs from one room to another and tearing the upholstery of one chair and for that they stopped the money. We went back to the hotel to check what we had done but the manager was very arrogant and rude to us and said you were right. We asked to see the chair, which they accused us of being torn. An employee brought it and when we asked which room the chair was from, he said a completely different room number than the one we were in. Much bitterness and disappointment remained with our stay in Solaria. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR ACCOMMODATION. But if you are still booked into staying overnight, please check everything very carefully when you check in, so that you don't end up being a victim too."

"Stayed for 5 days for a holiday in the snow. The hotel is beautifully located above Davos, only to be reached by a private cable car. When you arrive you feel you enter a film scene, where you can write the script. The whole atmosphere is one you will never forget, it is if you go back in time when only the happy few went on holiday. The hotel is done in beautiful architecture and is very elegant. Wood, marble and stone. Jugendstil details. Food is great, the staff friendly and helpful. You can sled down every night, on a private lighted sled course, and there is a great slope & ski lift is included in the hotel stay on the back of the hotel. Some things are older but that makes the hotel even better. I rather see something done with craft and nice materials then plastic fantastic. I have seen reviews of people who made a picture of some faded paint or a stain in the carpet.... that the hotel was older then they expected and some other silly bla bla. It is like not admiring a pretty lady but only concentrating on a pimple. f you like character and elegance and a hotel that one of a kind you should stay here. If you want a kind of mediocre middle class so called luxury, there are plenty of other hotel chains that cater to that. I will be back Hotel Schatzalp, I had a fantastic time!"

"This was the best value hotel on this European trip. The location is easy to find, with a 10 Swiss franc parking lot. Not far from the train station, supermarkets, restaurants, and shops, there's also a cable car to the top of the mountain. You can get a discount on the bus ticket you get with the hotel's provided bus card! The room and facilities were all good. It was quiet at night, the breakfast was good, and the front desk staff was helpful in answering any questions. Highly recommended."

"We stayed at this hotel as part of a road trip with friends, and it turned out to be a particularly special stop for us. One of our group actually began his career in hospitality here decades ago, working as a waiter. Hearing his stories of learning the trade in this very place, before going on to become a highly successful UK hotelier, added a real sense of occasion to the stay. Having experienced it for ourselves, we can absolutely see why it left such a lasting impression on him. The service was impeccable throughout, attentive, polished, and delivered with a natural ease that reflects genuine hospitality rather than something forced. The rooms were fantastic, beautifully presented, comfortable, and in keeping with the quality you hope for in a setting like this. The views were equally impressive, adding to the overall sense of being somewhere quite special. For those travelling by car, the parking was also a real plus, making it an ideal stop on a road trip without any of the usual hassle. All in all, a memorable stay, made even more meaningful by the personal connection and history."

"The location of the hotel is brilliant!! Opposite the Davos Platz train station, 5 minutes walk to the Coop supermarket, kebab stand, bars and restaurants/Davos Promenade. Valley station for Jakobshorn opposite (including Bolgenschanze). Really nice bar/lounge with fireplace and comfortable seating areas. Restaurant Pulsa was delicious, as always. Our room (normal double) was very spacious with a large, comfortable bed. Fridge, 2x TV and seating area and balcony. It was also nice and quiet in the room! The breakfast buffet is highly recommended, available until 11am on weekends (YES!), otherwise until 10am. The only thing I missed was the water/coffee maker in the room... but you could probably ask for one if needed. The prices for the hotel are of course high (470.- per night!!), but unfortunately "normal" these days for the winter season, weekends and this location. We will definitely be back!"

"Travelling with my daughter we had two rooms booked at the hotel. Arriving by car then be aware there is no car access to the hotel. You have to locate the tram station to get allocated a parking space 100m away. So, you have to haul your luggage a long way to the tram and then a long way to the hotel reception before you get to check in. It took us three calls to reception to get us and our car to the starting point. The hotel itself is very dated. The panelling, carpets, beds and furniture is from another era. It looks like it should have been updated 40 years ago. Generally the entire hotel has an air of decay where a lick of fresh paint would help. We didn't use any hotel services other than the charged car parking space. Not a hotel or place I'd ever be desperate to revisit. The view is the only redeeming feature."

"Perfect location for anybody attending a meeting at the Davos Kongress Centre. The hotel features comfortable spotless rooms that are quiet and overlook either the Promenade or the mountains to the east. The bathrooms are excellent- modern good quality fittings and very clean (of course.) Pleasant dining room with good beakfast (wonderful bread) and dinner all with excellent service. Staff friendly and helpful. Bus stops just outside the front door.The hotel provides a guest card with entitlement to free travel. Parsennbahn lift only a short ( 3 min ) ride away. Free Wi Fi in room. In conclusion: firmly recommended."

"Experience absolutely awful, I was supposed to stay in this hotel 4 nights, and because about the fact that my son was sick, I couldn't go on this hotel, I cancelled my staying from *********** before the beginning of my staying ( so they could rent again my room ). Even I knew before that the conditions couldn't allow me to be refund ( but its can be make from the hotel if they want ) I wrote them email in order to explain the situation and I was ready ( in order to show my understanding ) to be refund only one night on the 4 I nights I booked !!! But I was expecting a commercial good way of attitude from them...I cancelled 2 or 3 times in my life with identical conditions and always the hotel made something toward me...The STRELA hotel is gready, unfair and they talked to me very very rude at the phone...Frankly, you can count on me for make your advertising around me...really bad experience, rude staff...Believe me, you didn't earn what you didn't want to refund me…Poor"
