Paid extra at hotel and they they would adjust the price on trip.they could add an actual small blanket on the bed , I was cold throughout the night cos it was only bedsheets."

"Due to a communication and management issue with the guesthouse we had originally booked, we had quickly find another place to stay in Ella; and we were pleasantly surprised to come across Hotel Alta Vista. The location is excellent, right in the lively heart of Ella, surrounded by restaurants, shops, markets, banks, and all kind of conveniences. Even the train station is just a few minutes walk away. Because this was a last-minute booking, we ended up with the super deluxe room, the last one available. Both the room and the bathroom were very very spacious, clean, and equipped with all the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. There was also a small balcony which, thanks to the hotel's hillside location and our top-floor room, offered a stunning view over Ella and the surrounding tea plantations. Service is fairly simple, but efficient, polite, and genuinely warm. Everyone we encountered was friendly and very helpful. Noticing that, in the rush, we had booked without breakfast included, the manager kindly offered us a discount in case we wanted to add it. In fact, we only had breakfast once, on the day of our checkout. Since we were leaving very early, it wasn't fully set up yet, but the staff prepared a very complete a la carte breakfast for us - everything was fresh, tasty, and generous. While they were still setting up the buffet, they kept checking if we wanted anything else or more of something, which really showed their level of care and attention. The facilities are not the most modern, but the property is functional. Wi-fi is a bit erratic. One important note: there is no elevator, and considering the steep walk just to reach the reception, plus the stairs to the rooms, having strong legs definitely helps! Your heart will thank you. There is a nice swimming pool, although I'm not sure whether it is heated. Another point to consider, especially on weekend (and not related to the hotel itself), is that due to its proximity to Ella's nightlife, you can hear loud music until around midnight. For us, none o these points were deal-breakers, but they may bother others. We would recommend Hotel Alta Vista and would happily stay there again."

"Stay away from this hotel! The hotel rooms isn’t what’s pictured on booking sites, the entrance is through a forest on a mountain and through other buildings. The walls is stained, door is leaking, and the room are nasty. The entrance pathway crumbled under me so a nail went through my foot and got several scratches. It is NOT a hotel, not even a bungalow. I would rather sleep with the homeless dogs than stay there one night. We checked out 30 minutes after we checked in. At least the manager was nice enough to give a full refund and drive us to another hotel."

"Although the location is a little inaccessible, that’s how the beautiful view of train coming out from tunnel can be seen. And the inaccessible location is overly compensated by the service, there is TukTuk to fetch you from Ella Town or Ella station when you arrive. During your stay, they fetched us back from Ella town after dinner around 9pm to the accommodation for the convenience. Also upon check out, they sent us back to Ella station. So, you can to enjoy the view in absolute nature without compromising the convenience. Absolutely love the place. Just walking distance to 9 Arch."

However, improvements to the menu are needed to offer a wider variety of food options. Additionally, more organized and professional management would elevate the resort's potential to be one of the best in Ella. Limited parking is available, so plan ahead. Despite this, it's a great destination for a peaceful retreat."
