"It is possible that in the past this was a vey good hotel however today it obviously lacks any maintenance. I was given a room where there was no water in the toilet. I requested it to be fixed but it wasn’t. I then requested a different room. Despite the fact that there was virtually nobody staying at the hotel I actually had to spend 30 minutes convincing a manager that water in a toilet is necessary. The room I was finally given had a damp ceiling and was certainly not well maintained but since I was only staying one night I accepted it. Other guests noted that they had no hot water in the shower. Positives…the view from the hotel, the buffet breakfast was really good and dinner at the hotel restaurant was also good."

"Wonderful experience! The staff are amazing and so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is beautiful and clean. I loved the design and care that they put into it. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable. The balcony is spacious and relaxing. The shower has great water pressure which was great after hiking in the Simien Mountains. The hotel is in a great location, convenient to many historic locations in walking distance, and is secure. Great breakfast options and coffee. They have great wifi, also! The city and Gondar region has a lot to do and see and is undergoing a revitalization. I wish I could have stayed longer! The owner also helped arrange a taxi to the airport and stored our luggage after check out. They also accept credit cards and can change some currency. ATMs are nearby if you need to get birr. If you’re thinking about going to Gondar, go!"

"The hotel is located on a hilltop, with the entire city at your fingertips. We checked in on January 6th, the night before Christmas. We were told there was caroling throughout the city all night long; I sleep with earplugs and didn't hear it. But when we emerged onto the platform at dawn, we were amazed at how Ethiopians celebrate Christmas: music and singing can be heard everywhere. All of Gondar below us was in jubilation, and we shared the feeling. Our stay at the hotel was comfortable, and the rooms are attractively decorated with African motifs. Unfortunately, there's no kettle in the room, but I've never been turned away when I've approached the restaurant with a thermos asking for boiling water. A big thank you to the hotel staff for their hospitality and excellent service."

"Very clean and comfortable room with a huge balcony. The staff was very helpful, a very good contact with staff. Especially the young man at the reception - Solomon - was very supportive and helpful. Also an owner was always ready to help. The room was well equiped and spacious.
