Relais Ducale ★★★★
"Excellent, the waitress made me an exceptional drink on the first day. We wanted to leave for Spoleto but we preferred to stay because we found this hotel to be friendly, courteous, and professional."
Park Hotel Ai Cappuccini ★★★★
"A last minute booking (as we needed to move from a less than suitable hotel nearby) and we were not disappointed! An excellent hotel with a lovely welcome and wonderful front of house service. We had a superior room which was lovely with complimentary Prosecco to celebrate my wife's birthday whilst we were there. Although we didn't use it, complimentary spa and pool use was included with our room and the breakfasts and dinners were excellent with a good choice of dishes and impeccable service throughout. Well done on an excellent two night stay albeit a bit on the expensive side."
Hotel Gattapone ★★★
"Hotel located in the centre of Gubbio, a few minutes from the main square. Clean, ordered and new rooms. Bathroom with shower box. Breakfast is very diverse, clean and excellent. The staff's availability and kindness is wonderful, which has taken careful care and has fully met all our needs. I will certainly come back!"
Bosone Palace ★★★★
"The place itself is fabulous, with old wooden beams and floors. The desk clerk, Julia, was so helpful and nice and friendly. The breakfast room is gorgeous, along with the yummy breakfast. I wish we had stayed there longer. Location was perfect. I would return in a heartbeat!"
Castello di Petroia Dimora d'Epoca ★★★
"I can't say enough about what a wonderful stay we had here. I unfortunately broke my foot on day 2 of the trip, and the entire staff bent over backwards to help us get to the hospital, change rooms, extend our stay, etc. They provided what we needed at every turn, and I will be forever grateful. We ate dinner at the lodging every night, and it was wonderful -- so much easier than driving out to find a restaurant at night. Overall, just a lovely stay, and the entire staff went out of their way to treat us well. That's something you don't often find these days."
Casale I Calanchi Gubbio ★★★
Hotel Villa Montegranelli ★★★
"Hotel with great potential but completely inadequate for the service offered. The girl at the reception offered us an upgrade but the management is completely absent, the structure absolutely needs a lot of improvements and care for the guest's comfort... TV and hairdryer from the 90s... Very poor breakfast... The rather low quality/price ratio.. absolutely to be avoided.. there is better..."
Hotel San Marco ★★★
"We don’t understand why the TripAdvisor average is under 4.0. This property is a very good 3-star hotel. Some rooms overlook the large gorgeous beautifully-kept garden, where there is a play area for kids, and where one can have an ample breakfast. The included buffet offers scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, a variety of pork products, cheese, prunes, fresh fruit, canned peaches, plain yogurt and fruit yogurt, a variety of pastries and breads, 8 types of jam, over 5 types of cereal (flakes, granola, etc.). There is a coffee machine with all the typical Italian options, and about 10 types of tea and infusion bags. Sometimes employees made special coffee drinks requested by guests. The breakfast staff are pleasant, welcoming, and work hard to keep items stocked. The rooms are kept very clean by the pleasant and welcoming housekeeping staff. Unfortunately, our first room had a shower drain that smelled very bad, like perhaps sewage. However, there was no problem with the second room. There is also pretty good soundproofing, perhaps due to the thick walls; in our room we usually could not hear the group of young people who stayed in a dozen rooms and gathered late at night every night to let off steam. The floors made of clay tiles are easier to keep clean than carpeting. There aren’t any individual safes in rooms (which there should be in a 3-star hotel), but you can keep valuables at the front desk. The front desk employees are professional and mostly courteous, but definitely need some improvement in their level of English language proficiency, and I say this as someone who has stayed in scores of hotels all over Italy and can make knowledgeable comparisons. Decades ago most visitors to Gubbio were Italian and other Europeans, but there has been an increasing number of English speakers, so the staff should try to keep up instead of becoming flustered by guests who don’t speak Italian. Some TripAdvisor users say the place looks dated. It’s true that the dark red furniture and drapes are old-fashioned, but on the other hand those heavy drapes along with the floor-to-ceiling shutters and thick walls help keep out the brutal heat."
