"Positives: - Very close to the station - Modern hotel and modern room - Plenty of room space - Polite and friendly staff - Large bed Negatives: - Bathroom seems ”forgotten about” - Rest of hotel is spacious and modern. But the bathroom was tiny with very little space and felt out of place with the rest of the hotel. Bath was very narrow and small Overall: Very good location and modern hotel. Bathroom just stopped it from getting perfect score"

"Great value for money at this classic hotel. The room key is quite vintage, and they even provide free facial masks. The location is excellent, very close to Niigata Station, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. The only downside might be the lack of a hot spring bath, which would be really nice to have, especially in winter."

"I chose this hotel because of its reputation as an old-school establishment, but I was a little disappointed. 1. I have a permanent residence in Japan, so it's understandable that the front desk would ask for my residence card. However, they also insisted on making a copy of my ID, which no other hotel in Japan has ever done, and I found that quite perplexing. 2. There were still hairs from the previous guest stuck to the shampoo bottle in the bathroom, which is simply unacceptable. I wanted to ask the front desk about it, but I was too tired in the evening to even bother. 3. On the bright side, the breakfast was quite good and varied, and the window seats offered a nice view of the city."

"Very nice hotel. Very comfortable, rooms very nice. Lots of choices of restaurant within the hotel. It's a bit of a walk from the Niigata train station (10mins?) so if it's cold and snowing, maybe abit more challenging, but on a nice weather day, it's a pleasant walk. Staff are super nice. I requested more pillows and towels, and were brought to my room very quickly."

"I often stay at Livemax when I travel to other regions. It's very close, about a 3-minute walk from Niigata Station after taking the direct limousine bus from the airport. The return bus stop for the airport, number 18, is also nearby, so it's easy to move around even with a suitcase. The front desk staff are very polite in their explanations. Since it was just one night, the room was spacious enough, most amenities were included, and the facilities had been newly replaced, so it was comfortable. Also, there is a microwave here, so it's great to be able to heat up the local food you take home! The elevators are crowded at check-out time, as mentioned in the reviews, but I checked out at 9:50 and it didn't affect me. I think it's fine as long as you check out a little outside of peak hours. If I have the chance to come to Niigata, I'll use it again."

"This is the most comfortable hotel I've stayed at in Japan. The breakfast was also very nice, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The location is excellent, making it super convenient to get anywhere. The underground parking is a good bonus too. There was a lovely and very enthusiastic grandma at breakfast. I love everything about this hotel, and if I ever have the chance to visit again, I would definitely choose to stay here. I love Niigata, such a charming place."
