Burch's Resort Naivasha

Over rated, terrible food. We stayed here one night as part of our Kenyan tour through Ba Tours. For a start, they did not have our requested twin bed room and allocated separate rooms, which was not what was requested. Then when we went to what was supposed to be the restaurant, there were no tables set and we had to ask if we were in the right place. It looked like a conference room, and there was a TV blaring. Horrible atmosphere. We were finally given a menu, ordered...and then waited 45 minutes for our entree. It was well overcooked, as was the fish for main, smothered in burnt, fried onion, along with vegetables dripping in oil. Very unpleasant. Breakfast the next day was a buffet - the same oily vegetables were on offer, but at least we could have an omelette - but again fried in oil. Then locked out of one of our rooms because the card did not work, nor did the replacement card that arrived ten minutes later, so it took over 20 minutes to get back into the room. They had not prepared our to-go lunch box and when we went back to collect it a few hours later, it was also inedible. This was not a resort, it was a poorly run conference centre with terrible food and poor service.

We made an online booking and were greatly disappointed. The photos on the website and the description on sizes of the rooms are not a true reflection of what they offer. The rooms are tiny. We had booked aking-size bed with a view (as described on the website), only to be given a queen size and informed the king-size ones do not come with a view. The reception service is wanting. Their was no one to show us to our room or help us with the bags. We did this ourselves. We opted to cancel the booking & find an alternative as we did not want to spend our stay feeling duped; and they were to give feedback on deposit refund / a credit note useable at e.g. the restaurant, but no feedback has been given to date. Book this property in advance at your own risk.

Worst experience we had during our entire Kenya trip Horrible. I will give the entire details 1. This stupid place is the only place I have ever visited that has a 1hr lunch time from 2-3pm . 2. Food quality is horrible. Basic things like labelling the served out food is not done so you have to open all the boxes and by seeing the food understand what it is. Goes without saying that quality quantity and taste is sub standard. Cleanliness is best not spoken about. 3. Rooms are filthy with cob webs and dust. Windows don't close. There was no water in the washbasin. 4. And the best part is neither the staff not the management gives a dam about it. Good luck if you find someone to complain. . Never even think about staying at this place.

I was booked here for work and what a terrible place this is. from the receptionists who spoke in mother tongue and reluctantly checked me in, no directions to the rooms --we actually got lost and had to be rescued by a restaurant staff (Teresia). The hotel is still under construction with rocky pathways so you cannot drag your suitcase and there are no porters to help. The rooms are spacious but musty and laden with bugs (both creeping and flying ones) for which there is a solo guy who walks around spraying the room on request--woe unto you should another bug crawl in after he has left! Showers were excruciatingly and freezing cold-- with an instruction to let ir run for 10 minutes but never worked. In fact, it took 40 minutes for someone to respond to handle the water situation and it was not resolved. Add to that stained toilets, rusty taps. Service was terrible, the staff --especially reception was completely reluctant to be of help.

While the general grounds seem fairly decent. I do not recommend camping here, the camp site is a garden in front of apartment blocks one half finished with construction work going on. There area in front of the lake is condoned off and inaccessible and this seem to have been like this for a while. In other words the pictures on the website and here are very outdated and I think it's only fair for the management to let guests know this before hand. The handling of our complain given that we paid 35 USD per person a night was quite laissez-faire.

We had booked a tent in this property. When we got there, there was only one lonely tent in the middle of the place surrounded by apartments, with no hot shower, no toilets close to it, and an out of use pool! so we asked the reception to cancel our stay, but they offered us an upgrade to their cottages with a view of the lake. I can say the cottage was much better and a value for the money we paid for the tent. As the water level has risen up recently, the previous campsite you see in the photos does not exist anymore, so they need to have an update on the pics and the prices. There was a good wifi connection in the cottage & we could have some peace as the resort was almost vacant.
