"This is the first time that I write a negative review. This makes me sad. We stayed with 4 people at this hotel in August 2023 for 7 days. We booked directly with the hotel. Our booking included breakfast. Already after one day we realized that having breakfast in the hotel did not suit us (It did not fit in our day planning). We contacted the reception to cancel our breakfast reservation. This was accepted, but we have no written proof of this. At check-out we were surprised to see that the breakfast was still charged on our credit card. This means that we were charged 300 euro for breakfast that we did not take ! The hotel refuses to repay us this amount (in full or even partly). Lessons learnt : - do NOT book breakfast in advance - do NOT book directly with the hotel but use external booking sites (eg. ***********, etc) it is clear that we will not return to this hotel."

"Everything was perfect: the room, the facilities, and the staff. STAY AND BREAKFAST. Breakfast is fine, but dinner is to be avoided. Go out to eat, spend the same amount, and eat well, especially since half of the dishes are paid for (simple dishes). This is ridiculous for the category of the resort. The chef and the ingredients are fine for non-demanding foreign guests, while for Italians, it feels like eating spaghetti from a 60-euro-a-day pension in Rimini."

"When we booked Althea it all was a big incognito, firstly because the hotel was brand new, hardly no website with pictures, no info on the web to be found anywhere and first time on the whole on Karpathos! Travelling with children to a greek island also means to find a spot/hotel with a little less wind and as close as possible to the beach in order to let them go freely. We arrived and it was all a big: WOW! Ok the hotel is not spot on on the beach, but you have a beautiful view from the terraces and can stay in peace and quiet whenever everybody else is on the sandy beach of Ammoopi.... The host, Maria, welcomed us in the nicest possible way - customer oriented and with exceptional friendliness. The reception terrace is beautiful and a real treat to spend some time there just reading, having a nice chat with the hosts or taking your incredible breakfast (Maria makes huge breakfasts!!!)The rooms are elegant, modern complete with every possible comfort and the quality of the beds are incredible!! (I want one of those mattress too!!). A few minutes you walk downhill to the beach and really good restaurants which we all recommend. Things will surely have changed from summer 2013, but just in case: if you walk uphill to the hotel during darkness, make sure you have a torch! the road has no lights and is curvy and honestly a little dangerous with kids. We definetly suggest you take a motorbike or car in Karpathos.There is plenty of parking space at the hotel. We learnt to know Maria and her husband Mikalis a little during our stay and they were so nice to all of us that we can only summarize our stay by saying: Maria & Mikalis in our hearts! We'll surely be back."

"A family-run hotel, the owner Nicos has always been kind and helpful. It's a hotel that doesn't sell itself as something it isn't; if you're looking for luxury and comfort, this isn't for you. The location is truly strategic, very close to the beach and fifteen minutes from the center of Pigadia. The beds are very comfortable and the cleanliness is good. It's a shame about the breakfast, which is rather meager (it could be better), and that we were asked to change rooms at the beginning of our stay. Otherwise, our experience was very positive!"

Nice morning walks in shade and wind with our PWD to hill and evening shade in peninsula. Big thanks to Jenny and her mother for hospitality ..we felt like living with our family. Great location for surfing, windsurfing and climbimg ..nearny Finiki and Adia has new bolted routes."

"Expecting much more for the money we paid; no shower gel available in the bathroom. Room was small with a small balcony looking at a narrow dead end street.Breakfast was basic;no fresh orange juice provided and little variety of fruit and vegetables. There was no wi-fi connection in the room though it was included in the amenities. Narrow staircase leading to the rooms and no elevator for those carrying heavy luggage. Hotel is located in the heart of Pigadia but parking nearby is another issue as the roads around it are very narrow."
