Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto

Arashiyama/Sagano/Takao
My wife’s birthday trip at the Suiran was a dream come true. With successive Covid cancellations, it took us four years of planning, but it was worth the wait. With their traditional Japanese structures and landscaping, the Suiran was our oasis of calm during Kyoto’s busiest season (cherry blossoms). We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and the best breakfasts of our lives in their dining room, and blissful riverside happy hours in their cafe. Our comfortable room had all the amenities, and a soothing minimalist aesthetic. The Suiran staff is spectacular: thoughtful, gracious, attentive. Through our years of planning and days of enjoyment, we were guided by Suiran’s chief concierge, Hiromi Maruyama. Her kindness, patience, and expertise added greatly to the success of our time in Kyoto. Her suggestions and insights, and good spirits were a beacon shining our way. We are indebted to her for her efforts on our behalf.
Takao Kanko Hotel

Arashiyama/Sagano/Takao
The hotel is located in Kaohsiung, the western part of Kyoto City. The transportation is very convenient. You can take the municipal bus No. 8 directly to Kaohsiung (terminal) in the city. Attention! City No. 8 is a long-distance bus that runs every hour. Google Maps is excellent for navigation, because Google will display the bus arrival time, which is very accurate. After getting off the bus, you can call the hotel. The boss will drive you to the hotel. If you walk to the hotel, there is a way down the mountain. It is not easy to walk with large luggage. Everyone who enters the hotel is very enthusiastic and has no strangeness at all. The boss can speak English and communication is no problem. Dinner is usually booked in the hotel, because there are no restaurants around, there will be no tourists around 4:30. The hotel is very quiet around, and I personally think that you can experience authentic Japanese cuisine, which is delicious and not too expensive. The rooms are pure Japanese style, spacious and comfortable. There is a hot spring on the second floor. You can take a bath in the morning and evening, because the hotel does not have a few rooms, and it is very quiet. This is my favorite. When I checked in, the boss gave a guide map of the surrounding attractions, which was of great help to me. The surrounding attractions, Jingoji Temple, are within easy reach. Behind the hotel is the mountain road leading to Jingoji Temple. The fare is 600 yen. Nishikyo Temple is 5 minutes away. The fare is 500 yen. Takayama Temple is about 15 minutes away. The price is 800 yen. It is recommended to stay for two nights, so that you will not be very tired. I want to recommend it to my friends. I found a hiking route ~ Donghai Nature Trail. Walking in is like a paradise. Natural oxygen bar. See you on the road. Everyone in will greet politely. The hotel booked this time is really unforgettable. The hotel owner was not there when we left, but we sent a car to the Saga Arashiyama JR line. It was so touching. Finally, I would like to thank all the hotel staff for their warm reception. .

What needs to be improved: 1. The check-in address of the house and the address of the house are not the same place, and they are far apart; for tourists who do not understand Japanese, many problems are added. When we arrived that night, we couldn't find where to check in, which caused a lot of time delay; 2. We have made an appointment for the garbage cleaning service, but we went around and came back and found that the garbage was still piled up at home, and the service was bad; 3. About the facilities: The toilet and bathroom do not have heating facilities. I contacted for a long time and brought a heating facility. Shouldn't the room facilities be checked from time to time? 4. The overall feeling is very general. Friends who are more concerned about the above issues can consider carefully.
Ala Hotel Kyoto

Kyoto Station
Nestled in the heart of Kyoto station, Ala Hotel Kyoto offers a serene oasis amidst the bustling cityscape, with easy access to myriad tourist attractions and culinary delights. Situated along a vibrant street adorned with delectable beef restaurants and adjacent to a 24-hour drug store boasting competitive prices on cosmetics and medications, the hotel's location promises both convenience and immersion in local culture. A relatively new establishment, Ala Hotel Kyoto boasts one of the finest outdoor onsens I've encountered on my travels. Perched on the 10th floor, the onsen is accompanied by a tranquil zen lounge, ideal for unwinding post-soak or awaiting laundry completion. Though laundry services are complimentary, guests should note that detergent is not provided. While complimentary snacks were notably absent, the expansive onsen facilities and serene ambiance compensated for the oversight. However, it's worth mentioning that the onsen's operating hours are relatively limited, closing at 11 pm nightly, with only two hair dryers available. Upon entering the room, I was pleasantly surprised by its spaciousness—ample enough to accommodate three luggage pieces comfortably. The highlight, undoubtedly, was the bathtub affording breathtaking views of the hotel's surroundings, perfect for soaking in the beauty of sunrise or sunset. Complete with access to YouTube and Netflix, the room provided ample entertainment options. For a delightful treat, indulge in soft-serve ice cream from the cafe adjacent to the hotel—an ideal conclusion to a day of exploration. The bed exuded comfort, while the addition of a sofa near the entrance provided a convenient spot to unwind without soiling the bedding with outdoor attire. Overall, while Ala Hotel Kyoto may lack certain amenities, its spacious accommodations, strategic location, and reasonable pricing make it a standout choice for travelers seeking tranquility and convenience in equal measure.
Kasui-en (The Westin Miyako Kyoto)

It's not worth the price, so don't choose this hotel. There is no doubt that all hotels in Japan are very hygienic. This hotel room is almost freezing in the winter, because Japan does not have floor heating, only air conditioning. The glass is single-layered, and the air conditioning stops running at some point, so we are all very cold. I called and got a small heater that was worth ten thousand a day. Breakfast is a continental dish that looks rich but has not adapted to Chinese people! My husband is a European and even he said that I could at least have a bowl of porridge while staying in a hotel in Tokyo for 3,000 days. And I am already very tolerant of things. If you don’t believe it, please go and see for yourself. There is ice cream, but not xiaolongbao, and no rice porridge. Porridge is only included in the set meal. I was stingy when I chose that set meal and didn't let you choose the buffet. I didn't eat much, but I thought the hotel layout was too low! And the set menu cannot be selected every day. All in all, I won't come back to this hotel again, it's so stupid.
Super Hotel Kyoto Shijokawaramachi

Kawaramachi
We stayed at Super Hotel Kawaramachi, Kyoto. The location is very near to the train station and the hotel is very clean, bright, modern and minimalistic. The counter check-in and self check-out is efficient, without troubles. Keypad entry into the room is convenient with no risks of misplacement of key. Clean towels in a black bag placed at the door ensures minimal disturbance to guests. Guests can then return the used towels in the same black bag and place them outside the door. If guests prefer their room to be done up, they can just put the sign at the door. Everything is efficient. Even though the toilet and bath area is small, it is very clean. But fat people may not be able to enter. The water is clean and their bathroom products are labeled organic. The breakfast spread is good enough and satisfying. The happy hour 6 pm - 8 pm with free flow of drinks is good for families to get together. The hot bath onsen facilities are also very good. Overall, even though the hotel room is rather small, we are happy with the facilities and the convenience of the location.
