"Excellent welcome on arrival as well as at breakfast service, very friendly and attentive staff. Hearty breakfast, proximity to the city center (5 minutes on foot), easy parking. Many small services: kettle, tea, infusion, hair dryer, swimming pool, etc. Establishment to recommend"

Le Lion d'Or en Perigord ★★★★

"I partly want to 'gate-keep' this gem... but I won't be so selfish. This was the most perfect stay for some well needed rest and relaxation. The accommodation is modern, spacious and clean, we had the top floor apartment which had loads of space and a balcony. The grounds are picturesque and the pool would be fantastic (unfortunately we were unlucky with the weather). The breakfast basket every morning is a delightful treat- crossiants, bread, fruit and yoghurt all beautifully presented. The highlight of our stay was a meal cooked by the owner Christophe. We had perfectly cooked duck with a special bottle of paired wine from a local chateau- we liked it so much we visited the chateau to purchase 12 bottles. Christophe presented a cheese board with a thoughtful explanation of each cheese. Christophe is a fantastic host, he is attentive and warm company without being overbearing or invasive. He was always on hand for anything we needed and gave us great advice on places to visit. We very much enjoyed our time here - Sainte Alveres is a gorgeous village nearby with some great restaurants. We loved cruising the surrounding French countryside. If you get a chance to stay at Lion D'or, then I'm jealous - we are already planning our next stay! Tank you Christoph!"

"What a fantastic 3 days for the Truffle event. Everything was planned out in perfect detail. The food and wine, hotel accommodations, staff, wine tasting, cooking demonstration and visits to the Truffle Market, Truffle Farm and Foie Gras Farm were all wonderful in spite of the rain. I met so many great people and even though I was the only American they welcomed me and made me feel special. I plan to come back with my husband for a stay and to tour the area as there is so much to see!"
