The room was spacious and felt reassuringly like a brand-name hotel. The hot spring bath had two pools: one cold, with unadjustable temperature, and one where you could set your own. The view from the window was beautiful; from my room, I could see half mountain scenery and half Sun Moon Lake. The entire hotel's facilities, environment, and service were all comfortable. They even offered recommendations for transportation and arrangements. I would recommend this place.

Pleasantly surprised by the hotel. The room is a tatami room with comfortable futon beds. The highlight is the lovely view of the lake on two sides of the room. The layout is similar to what one finds in a typical Japanese onsen hotel with wc that is separate from the bathroom. Pajamas are provided. So nice to be able to soak in our private onsen bath after a day of activities in SML. The breakfast is amazing in terms of quantity and quality; it is however geared towards Asian food. Bagels are delicious. The hotel is opposite one of the entrances to the walkway around the lake so it’s convenient for strolls around the lake. Wish we could stay for a few more days.

This is the best hotel during my trip. The receptionist staff was very friendly and helpful! We even get an early check in. The room was clean and has amazing view. It is right infront of the street food market and the ship dock. The breakfast buffet was okay!

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while the view from the room was admittedly wonderful, it was completely overshadowed by a horrific experience. The bed was heavily infested with bed bugs. I woke up with severe bites all over my legs, which has completely ruined the rest of my travels. Dealing with the intense discomfort, itching, and the anxiety of potentially carrying them to my next destination (Kaohsiung) has been incredibly stressful and unpleasant. A nice view does not make up for a lack of basic hygiene and safety. Management needs to take immediate action, deeply treat these rooms, and take guest health seriously. I cannot recommend staying here until this severe issue is completely resolved.

Forest Courtyard Deluxe Quadruple Room (Completed 2026) Section E (E01) Check-in Date: 2026.05.30 (Sat) Cost: TWD 2880 (Originally 3247 - TripCoin 367) The building uses H-steel construction, though the exterior decoration doesn't give that away. The building materials are quite good. The interior decoration is definitely 5-star quality. Most of the main equipment is made in China, and the quality is very high standard. The bidet toilet (JOMOW), shower facilities, audio system (Edifier M230), and room power control device, though made in China, are all of impeccable quality. Overall, about 80-90% of the room's building materials are from China, which shows that Chinese building materials still have a certain level of competitiveness. The stay offered a comfort level of 9.9/10! Occasionally, there are sheep grazing on the hillside below. Hotpot is available for dinner, and there are live singers on weekends, which creates a great atmosphere. Breakfast is Chinese style, with congee served with various Chinese breakfast items, toast, fruit, eggs, and high-mountain cabbage. Beverages include coffee, soy milk, and red bean milk, among others (no Western breakfast options). It's understandable that there might be some common insects and flies in the dining area.

The hotel is ok but the room is big. The restaurant in the hotel is a must try. My daughter LOVEs every dishes she ordered. She said, this is the best food she had in Taiwan, so we had two dinners at the hotel. The location of the hotel is not great! We couldn’t get into the local buses to go to Xitou nor to Taichung because the buses were full from the original starting point. However, the hotel offers fare shuttle service to and from Xitou but not Shanlinxi. The front desk lady drove us to Xitou, she was GREAT and very accommodating, she took us to Xitou bus station outside of the normal schedule hours so we can catch the bus back to Taichung. We would come back again with our car to get to different areas in Xitou again.

We had a great stay! The host was incredibly helpful and friendly, providing excellent recommendations for local attractions and even helping us secure discounted tickets. The room was clean and offered a beautiful view. A highlight was the breakfast—simple yet delicious. To top it off, the host kindly arranged for staff to drop us off at the Shuishe main bus station. The highlight for this hotel is the location near the Ita Thao pier especially if you are coming in from Shuishe by boat. The room is spacious and renovated not long ago. Breakfast was substantial, typical local ********* breakfast. I had a room with partial view if the sun moon lake. But convinient to walk down for a morning or evening stroll. Many small eateries aroubd even at night with family mart and 7-11 just round the corner

The hotel is considerably cheaper than others in the area with similar-looking rooms and it is brilliantly-located right at the lakefront and only 2 minutes away from the bus terminal. The staff is very friendly and you even get a discount voucher for the nearby bike rental. I booked a room without a window and got one with two windows which is absolutely appreciated. I even had a very large bathroom with a gorgeous and huge bathtub which was an unexpected luxury. Overall the room is clean and comfortable. The AC works perfectly, the bed is comfortable enough for a few days, and the the linen and towels were fresh. The interior is dated which didn't bother me me much because it was still as clean as dated interior can get and therefore definitely clean enough for me and for most travellers. I actually kinda liked the old charme. The walls are thin, though it doesn't matter so much because there aren't many rooms per floor. The breakfast was surprisingly nice and located in another hotel right at the lakefront so that you have stunning views!
