Hotels near Atocha Train Station in Madrid

I booked a family room, and the sofa bed was a large and spacious double. The only issue was that room 305 had a TV with a poor signal, causing a pixelated screen. If you're looking to watch the World Cup or any other game, definitely avoid this room. Secondly, the air conditioner had a loud hum, which seemed to be a compressor issue. However, a good workaround was to turn down the fan speed, and it quieted down considerably. Other than that, there were no other major problems. The staff's response time was very quick, including fixing the AC (even though they just removed and cleaned the filter, their attitude was excellent, and they responded promptly). The day before leaving, I asked a male front desk staff member to help me book a taxi to the airport, and I was very grateful for his help with my luggage and seeing me off. Their English was also excellent (perhaps due to many English-speaking guests), so there were no communication problems whatsoever. The only downside was that when I booked, I saw comments saying Madrid isn't that big and you can take a taxi anywhere, which led me to book this hotel. In reality, a more central location would be more convenient for getting around. Even though the hotel is near Retiro Park, it's a 6-minute walk to the metro station, and there are buses nearby, but getting to the city center still takes over half an hour, and a taxi to El Corte Inglés takes 28 minutes... (considering it was 40-degree weather, you really don't want to walk that long). However, the fact that there were often taxis waiting right outside the hotel made up for this quite well. All in all, it was decent, but if you can choose a hotel in a more central, well-located area, go for that. If you want a quiet location with considerate, warm, and friendly staff, then choose this hotel. The room's mini-bar came with many complimentary drinks. There's a Carrefour just a 4-minute walk away, and many Chinese restaurants catering to Spanish people nearby, but Uber Eats can deliver better food from the city center in about an hour. They close late, around 11-12 PM in the summer, which is nice.

The whole place is very clean, and it's super close to the airport. There's a supermarket right next to the hotel, so shopping is really convenient. Lots of airline crews stay here too, which makes getting around easy. Plus, there are plenty of great restaurants in the alley across the street that I'd recommend checking out.

Hard Rock Hotel is conveniently located a short walk from Atocha station. The entrance has steps, and staff kindly helped with our large luggages when we went inside to ask. The lobby looks trendy and welcoming at check-in. We booked a 4-night stay in a family room for two. Paying extra, we chose family room with two washing basins, as shown on their website and confirmed verbally at check-in. However, the room given had an extra rollaway bed set up and only one basin. After reminding front desk that we didn’t need the extra bed and specifically requested two basins, there was some delay—possibly due to language barriers. Eventually, the front desk agreed to rearrange our room. We appreciated this gesture, though initially the staff seemed reluctant, repeating “it is set up like that” and showing blank faces. I had to be assertive to explain that the extra bed defeats the purpose of paying more for extra space. Hotels should understand that some guests pay extra for bigger rooms without needing extra beds. Flexibility to remove the bed would improve guest experience. If I had known, I might have paid less for a standard room. In the end, they moved us to a room without the extra bed and with two sinks. While the staff handled this without smiles, they were friendly and responsive during the rest of our stay. This was my first time at Hard Rock Hotel, and perhaps cultural differences influenced the front desk’s reaction. The room itself was spacious, clean, and well-appointed with tea, coffee, and a daily bottle of water. Though bar noise was audible from downstairs, it was not disturbing, and earplugs were provided. Housekeeping was always friendly and smiling. Overall, Hard Rock Hotel has excellent facilities. I’m unsure if I’d return, but the quality of the hardware is good. The hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. The only thing that for the price you pay was waiting a little more in the room (the dust had not passed in several days and I am allergic, the bed header was unspoken, there was some walls shaved, there was only one night mel and was damaged). A positive point was that there was a diffuser for the dryer, that is almost a miracle.

The industrial-style decor was as basic as it gets, which was fine since I only needed to sleep for five hours before catching my flight. There was no view from the window, it was completely blocked. It's a convenient ten-minute drive to the airport, and there's also a shuttle bus available.

Located at one end of a strip of hotels near the airport, I've stayed at almost all of them. Their prices are all pretty similar, but this hotel consistently offers great value for money. It's highly recommended if you're catching a flight.

This hotel is about a 12-14 minute walk (850 meters) from the train station (which has a metro connection). Hotels in Madrid are generally expensive with small rooms, so the only real perks here are the convenient location and relatively new facilities. I chose it because I had an early high-speed train the next day. I also bought breakfast, but it was incredibly disappointing. I'd highly recommend skipping breakfast here – it doesn't even compare to a B&B breakfast and definitely isn't worth the price.

I was in a shared female dorm. Nice bed and location. A towel was provided but be prepared for a cold water shower. No real kitchen to speak of. Just a small iced over fridge and microwave. It’s in a nice location and easy to walk to all the hot spots.

This hostel offers a very good balance between price and quality. The room, bathroom, sheets, and towels are clean. The location is very central, yet it is completely quiet on the third floor. Check-in may be complicated for non-Spanish-speaking guests, as you do not receive any information prior to arrival. Shampoo and shower gel are provided. The air conditioning is new and works very well. This place opened in 2023.

To check in, you need to contact them via WhatsApp at the entrance. The staff responsible for check-ins weren't very responsive, and I had to wait 5-10 minutes, even making a call to them. However, another staff member, an uncle who manages the hostel, was incredibly warm and genuine. I forgot my locker code twice and he kindly reset it for me. The biggest downside was definitely the room, mainly due to a strong odor. Some guests' body odor was so overwhelming and the ventilation wasn't good, which severely impacted the living experience. I couldn't sleep at all that night, partly because of the pervasive snoring from many guests. The continuous snoring led me to pack my bags and leave at around 3 AM. Overall, the facilities were fine, and the downtown location is excellent, but the room smell was just too much.
