Hotels near Retiro in Madrid

"Great location, not far from Atocha train station. It's also just a stone's throw away from Retiro Park. The hotel breakfast is good, the rooms are spacious enough, and the facilities are decent. The front desk service was excellent."

"I booked quite late, so I could only find a place near the Retiro Park. However, the hotel room was quite spacious, over 20 square meters. The 32 bus route made it very convenient to get to various attractions and the train station. The breakfast was also quite substantial. If I get the chance next time, I'd like to stay somewhere more central for even easier transportation."

"I booked a family room, and the sofa bed was a large and spacious double. The only issue was that room 305 had a TV with a poor signal, causing a pixelated screen. If you're looking to watch the World Cup or any other game, definitely avoid this room. Secondly, the air conditioner had a loud hum, which seemed to be a compressor issue. However, a good workaround was to turn down the fan speed, and it quieted down considerably. Other than that, there were no other major problems. The staff's response time was very quick, including fixing the AC (even though they just removed and cleaned the filter, their attitude was excellent, and they responded promptly). The day before leaving, I asked a male front desk staff member to help me book a taxi to the airport, and I was very grateful for his help with my luggage and seeing me off. Their English was also excellent (perhaps due to many English-speaking guests), so there were no communication problems whatsoever. The only downside was that when I booked, I saw comments saying Madrid isn't that big and you can take a taxi anywhere, which led me to book this hotel. In reality, a more central location would be more convenient for getting around. Even though the hotel is near Retiro Park, it's a 6-minute walk to the metro station, and there are buses nearby, but getting to the city center still takes over half an hour, and a taxi to El Corte Inglés takes 28 minutes... (considering it was 40-degree weather, you really don't want to walk that long). However, the fact that there were often taxis waiting right outside the hotel made up for this quite well. All in all, it was decent, but if you can choose a hotel in a more central, well-located area, go for that. If you want a quiet location with considerate, warm, and friendly staff, then choose this hotel. The room's mini-bar came with many complimentary drinks. There's a Carrefour just a 4-minute walk away, and many Chinese restaurants catering to Spanish people nearby, but Uber Eats can deliver better food from the city center in about an hour. They close late, around 11-12 PM in the summer, which is nice."

"This hotel was located at a fantastic location that is tucked away just far away enough from the hustle and bustle of the city but still near the public transportation. My favourite part of this hotel is that it's a local neighborhood with small shops and playgrounds, giving it an authentic feel."

"The hotel's location is super convenient and safe, right opposite the train station. However, the station is huge, so even after arriving from Barcelona to Madrid station, it's still about a 15-minute walk to the hotel. On the flip side, getting around by Metro from the hotel is incredibly easy because the station is right next door. Even taking a taxi (Uber/Bolt) to other places for dinner is quick, usually only about 10-15 minutes. The hotel isn't new; I just prioritized convenience for getting to the airport and exploring shops and restaurants nearby. The lobby is nicer than the rooms, but the rooms are decent and clean, though the air conditioning/ventilation isn't great, and the TV doesn't have screen mirroring, so there's not much to watch. Overall, it's acceptable, but definitely not worth over three thousand dollars per night."

"What a cocky place. It’s a hostel, but there’s no kitchen. Since they have a restaurant, I guess the expectation is that guests eat there. They charge €5 for early check-in, even if you arrive just one hour early. They also charge for luggage storage, with the price depending on the size of your luggage. As of 21 August, there’s construction directly opposite the hostel, on the train station side. They start early, so be prepared to wake up to construction noise. But the biggest issue for me was how unnecessarily inefficient the check-in process is. They send you a link to complete check-in, but even though your reservation is already fully paid, they still collect your credit card details. Huh? I’ve never encountered this at a hostel. One of the reasons I book through booking platforms is precisely so I don’t have to hand over my card details to every individual property. Apparently, this hostel believes it can protect my data better than the big booking platforms. 🤷♀️ And then: I arrived one hour early and completed the check-in process at the front desk. I went out for lunch ( because they asked me to pay 5 eur for early check-in), and when I came back, there was a queue for check-in again. Completely ridiculous and unnecessarily inefficient. To be fair, it’s a fancy-looking hostel in a convenient location, very close to the train station, with plenty of nice restaurants around. But for me, the whole experience felt unnecessarily money-focused and inefficient. Fancy doesn’t automatically mean good hospitality."

"I stayed three nights and had an excellent experience. It's well-connected, with spacious and clean rooms at a reasonable price. The staff was very attentive, especially Blanca in the bar/restaurant area. It was my first time staying at this hotel, and I will definitely return."
