"A rather unique hot spring hotel. The room I booked was a Japanese-style room (washitsu), purely tatami room, and there's no bathroom inside – please be aware of this. To bathe, you need to go to a separate, traditional Japanese hot spring bath, separated by gender, where you must be naked and thoroughly washed before entering. Opinions on the experience vary, but the Japanese seem to enjoy it, haha. The hotel includes breakfast and dinner, which were surprisingly high quality, and the menu changed daily, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was excellent, with the typical Japanese attentiveness, and the staff spoke decent English, so communication wasn't a problem. Overall, a very unique hotel, definitely worth experiencing."

"The hotel is quite new, and the room is very spacious. We enjoyed soaking in the hot springs at night and strolling along the Onsen street during the day. It's very close to the Yumoto Onsen Ski Resort, which was great as it was mostly locals skiing there. The only downside is that it's a bit far to get to; you have to take the bus and get off at stop number 45."

"I have lived once a long time ago and I feel very comfortable. I still like this stay, but the dinner feels better before. Now it is quite satisfactory, but the overall recommendation is still to stay. I will choose to stay here in the future because it is too comfortable."

"I spent at Kaniyu 2 nights and absolutely loved it! Upon my arrival, there was an English-speaking staff member at the reception, Mr. Tamaki, who kindly upgraded my room for free - thank you so much for that! The room was spacious and clean. It was a bit cool inside, but the heating system worked really well and warmed up the room quickly; the controls were very simple and convenient to use. The futon was comfortable, the blanket was warm and cozy, and although the pillow was a bit too firm for me, I slept just fine without it. The room was equipped with everything needed: towels, yukata for changing, bathroom amenities, and more. Both breakfast and dinner were made from a variety of fresh ingredients — everything was delicious and filling. I tried many dishes for the first time and really enjoyed them! The stuff was very nice and friendly, a canteen lady who helped me to take a picture was very kind! The onsen was absolutely amazing. The hot, milky water was incredibly relaxing (not that smelly for my taste), and the cool outdoor air felt refreshing. I visited it after sunset as well, and it was an unforgettable experience: chilling in hot springs while watching night sky and listening to forest sounds. --- To sum it up, if you're looking for a peaceful retreat off the beaten path and for affordable price, then this place is absolute gem~ P.S. l was mesmerized by the road trip to the Kaniyu itself: mountains, rivers and lakes, a troop of monkeys on the side of the road, tunnels, a hairpin turns and so on."

"Amazing experience out in the woods. Perfect for families and couples as you can go into onsen together. Women typically wear a towel in the mixed onsen, while men use a small towel for modesty while walking between baths. Lunch is available in the main hall. Stunning breakfast and dinner in dining room. Waterfall right next to the outdoor baths, great view."

"The traditional Japanese ryokan has two meals, one night and one night. The dining is delicious and the owner's service is very considerate. It is next to Yumoto Onsen Bus Station and within walking distance to Nikko National Park."

"先説唯一的問題：離東武日光站34km，打車45分鐘，坐公交1.5小時左右，但如果你喜歡自然風光且對温泉♨️品質有一定要求，那麼這家酒店一定是去日光獨家的不二選擇之一，所有温泉都是掛流源泉，公湯和房間裏的私湯都是純正硫磺泉，味道濃郁，房間是23年翻新的，大小和乾淨程度都很好，一泊二食的晚餐是那種道數不多但每一道的食材新鮮度和製作者的用心都能看得到的存在，酒店周邊步行可達湯之湖和湯瀑布等景點，總的來説作為一個住過不下三十家日本温泉酒店的我來説，對酒店非常滿意！"

"The hotel is old so you definitely see how dated the facilities are but at the same time you know they are very well maintained. My room on the 3rd floor was spacious and had great view to Chuzenji lake. The sulfur onsen was great too. Staffs are professional, especially those in the dining room. They are vey attentive and quick to response to your needs.  The only downside is the location. If you want to find a lowkey hotel to relax in a remote area, Chuzenji is a perfect choice. But beware that there are only 3 shuttle bus a day. If you missed the last shuttle at 16h40 you will have to catch the last public Tobu bus at 18h and it takes like more than an hour to get to the hotel. No taxi, no uber available."
