I stayed at the Alexandra Hotel on Alexandra Road in mid-May with my child for an exam in Singapore. The location is excellent, right next to IKEA, and you can even see The Interlace, Singapore's famous 'Jenga block' residential complex.
There are plenty of dining options nearby, and public buses are readily available. The MRT is a bit of a walk, about twelve minutes. If you're going further than two kilometers, I'd recommend taking a taxi; Grab (Gao De) is usually the best option.
The hotel's seventh floor houses the breakfast restaurant, gym, and swimming pool. The pool is fantastic – a much better experience than typical five-star hotel pools.
The room had great soundproofing and effective air conditioning. They don't provide bottled water, but there's drinkable tap water. They offer two complimentary sachets of instant American coffee and tea bags. Additionally, toothbrushes (no toothpaste, you need to request it from the hotel), cotton swabs, and disposable slippers are provided.
The overall service was superb, especially the lobby staff. HUNG, SIMIE, ALIF, and IRISH were all very nice and enthusiastic. HUNG, in particular, was incredibly helpful in communicating directions with our taxi driver. 👍
I highly recommend this hotel for your consideration.

The room, as is typical for Singapore, was a bit small but very clean. Behind the hotel, there's a small hill perfect for a leisurely stroll, with a hiking trail that takes about an hour to complete. Right outside is a bus stop, and it's only three stops to VivoCity, making transportation very convenient. However, there aren't any hawker centers nearby, so you'll need to take a bus to find places to eat.
With a stay at Travelodge Harbourfront (SG Clean) in Singapore (Bukit Merah), you'll be steps from VivoCity and 8 minutes by foot from Singapore Cruise Centre. This 4-star hotel is 0.9 mi (1.5 km) from HarbourFront Centre and 1.4 mi (2.2 km) from Universal Studios Singapore.

Travelodge Harbourfront is a practical option for travelers who value location and affordability. The room is admittedly quite small, but it works well for business stays or trips where you do not plan to spend much time indoors.
The shower had strong water pressure, which was a nice plus, and the bed was comfortable enough for a good rest after a long day out.
Breakfast could definitely be improved. The selection felt limited and leaned heavily toward less healthy processed items such as sausages. On one occasion, the fried chicken was also undercooked, which was disappointing.
Overall, if you need convenient access to Sentosa and are traveling on a budget, this is still a good and convenient place to stay.

Facilities: The cottage I stayed in is detached, not inside the main building, so the soundproofing was a bit lacking.
Cleanliness: Good.
Environment: It's in a relatively quiet area, surrounded by apartments. Across the street, there are restaurants, bars, a supermarket, and a bakery.
Service: Good.

Ugh, I forgot to take photos, so I'll use some random ones instead. First off, I chose this place because it's super close to Universal Studios, and I figured a chain hotel wouldn't be too bad. But the price wasn't exactly cheap – I paid over 480 for a queen room. I know hotels in Singapore are pricey, so this was within my expected budget; I'd already come to terms with the cost. The front desk staff were all really nice. However, my heart sank when I opened the door. The room was tiny, and they don't provide slippers, toothbrushes, or cups, citing environmental reasons... though if you ask the front desk for a toothbrush, they'll give you one. For cleanliness, I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5 – not terrible, but not outstanding either. It's a small room but has all the essentials, though you definitely can't fit two suitcases in there; it felt really cramped. On the bright side, the soundproofing seemed pretty good. I'm not sure if there were no other guests or if everyone was just incredibly considerate, but I didn't hear any noise. Plus, I was so exhausted from sleeping at the airport the night before that I slept like a log. It was the best night's sleep of my entire trip, and I was genuinely shocked that I slept best in the smallest room... Oh, and the shower gel and shampoo are all-in-one, so if you're particular, you might want to bring your own.

Great ambience and beautiful view. So nature and clean environment. Worth to stay and nearby to attractions and beach clubs in Sentosa. Shuttle service also provided to go along the beaches ; Pahlawan beach, Tanjong Beach and Siloso Beach which is also convenient to take bus, train and taxi at nearby station. Easy access transportation in and out from Sentosa Island. Love the seaview and garden view from the rooftop and also just a walking distance to Beach Station in less than 10mins from the resort. This is my 2nd time staycation here and highly recommend for a short gateway and healing by nature in Sentosa Island.

Our toilet floor gets wet each time we showered as the water seeps through the glass pane. Housekeeping was nice to give us extra towels , floor mats . Maintainance was called and he was good enough to change the rubber. However it does not solve the problems. So we always have a wet toilet floor which is very unpleasant.
Our room has a lot of ants. Other than that nothing much to comment. Kudos to housekeeping

Originally booked this hotel for shits and giggles coz of Anthropic Claude. This place is obsessively clean. I’m talking about the kind of clean that makes you suspicious — like maybe they have a team that just polishes doorknobs all day. Everything is spotless. Even the complimentary laundry room (which, yes, is FREE with detergent pods included) looks surgical. Zero lint. No detergent residue. No mysterious washing machine funk. Just pure, sparkling cleanliness. For someone as particular as me about hygiene, this was an unexpected jackpot. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
Location is solid: walking distance to Chinatown, Maxwell Hawker Centre, Keong Saik Road’s fancy food scene, and two MRT stations (Chinatown and Maxwell). The outdoor courtyard smells like fresh lemon balm disinfectant, which is oddly specific but very reassuring. There’s also a complimentary minibar, which feels generous for a compact room.
The double bed room I booked was small but accurately described during booking, so no gotcha moments. If you’re short like me, the bed’s perfectly comfortable. They’ve maximized storage cleverly: luggage space, safety box, mini fridge under the bed. The courtyard becomes your unofficial living room since the actual room is just… bed.
The Meh
The rain shower is a mystery. I still don’t know how to use it without turning the bathroom into a wading pool. The handheld showerhead has weak water pressure, though the bathroom itself is otherwise excellent. So clean!!! You can feel the MRT rumbling underneath (acceptable noise level), but the real problem is Leila, the bar downstairs. If you’re into nightlife, great! If you’re trying to sleep on the second floor, less great. I could hear thumping bar music until late. Front desk was gracious and delivered earplugs promptly when I asked, so points for responsiveness.
Walking around during rainy season would be a drag.
The Verdict
Would stay again for overnight layover purely for the cleanliness. Thanks for the random pick, Claude (both the AI and the hotel). 🧼✨🤖

Great
GGuest UserThe Shangri-La Singapore boasts an excellent location, offering a serene and elegant environment with beautiful garden views. The check-in experience is relaxing and comfortable. The rooms are spacious, and the bedding is soft and skin-friendly, with a full range of toiletries provided. The overall service is attentive and thoughtful, with warm and polite staff. The breakfast selection is extensive. The only minor drawback is that some facilities are slightly older, but they are well-maintained and clean, which doesn't affect the stay at all. Overall, it offers good value for money, making it a great choice for a trip.
AAluodunyingfusuSummary: The room was spacious, as was the bathroom, wardrobe, and windows. It's incredibly convenient for getting around, with two malls downstairs (Ya Kun and others are practically on your doorstep) and bars. The subway station is also very close.
There's a capsule coffee machine and TWG tea bags.
The overall feel is quite classic, but it's a bit dated in places, like the hairdryer. It's one of those old-fashioned, long-bodied ones that makes your arm ache to use – I haven't seen one like that in years.
The toilet is also quite old. But that doesn't mean it doesn't work well.
Also, the hotel completely ignored my request for a high-floor room 😥😥😥
The service was very good. It happened to be Easter during Qingming Festival, and they even gave me a chocolate egg – a huge one! The flavor was really rich and pure; I even brought it back home with me.
It only takes 20 minutes to walk to Marina Bay Sands and Merlion Park.
Just as other reviewers said, it's a great value-for-money choice for travel.
🤦♀️ Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the hotel, only one of the Easter chocolate egg. The other two pictures are of nearby malls: one is called Millenia Walk, and the other is Suntec City.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is excellent, with a shopping mall right downstairs and Lau Pa Sat nearby, making dining very convenient. The decor is modern, and there's even a small kitchenette. The best part is being able to go up to the 51st floor for amazing views of Singapore.
AAishuishui1025## Facilities:
The facilities are quite new and spacious enough. However, the online reviews about poor soundproofing and mosquitoes are true. I was woken up in the middle of the night by people chatting next door, possibly returning from their night out. And when people talk in the hallway, it sounds like they're right in your room.
## Environment:
Banyan Tree focuses on a pristine, secluded, and very rainforest-like atmosphere. But this particular area is clearly geared towards families, with most guests likely coming for the convenient access to the zoo. However, the overall amenities aren't very family-friendly. The pool closes at 7 PM, so we barely got to use it.
## Hygiene:
The room's hygiene was decent, but mosquitoes appeared out of nowhere, and my son ended up with four big bites.
## Service:
It was okay; we didn't really experience much in terms of service. But when we asked for directions, they were extremely helpful and guided us precisely.
## Location:
The hotel's location is indeed excellent. You can reach the Night Safari directly via a covered walkway, which protects you from rain and sun.
## Breakfast:
The Chinese breakfast was just so-so.
--chenchen-The hotel is quite new overall, and the location is super convenient. I only stayed one night for a city layover, so here are the pros and cons:
**Pros:**
1. It's very easy to get to all the attractions, many are within walking distance. It's also close to the City Hall MRT station, and popular internet-famous restaurants and coconut milk tea shops are nearby.
2. We checked in with our child, and the staff immediately gave us a little snack bag for the kids. While it's not a family-themed hotel, it made a better impression than some dedicated family hotels.
**Minor Cons (not dealbreakers):**
1. We were given an adjoining room, which made me feel quite insecure. I actually moved the coffee table to block the door before I could sleep.
2. The toilet paper in the bathroom was very sparse! And the toilet flush button was incredibly, incredibly hard to press – you needed a lot of force. We initially thought it was broken.
3. We'd just spent three nights in Sentosa where the minibar was fully stocked and complimentary every day. In contrast, this hotel, at a similar price point, had an empty fridge, which was a bit of a shock. It really hit home that 'it's hard to go from luxury to frugality.'
4. Perhaps it's because efficiency is so high back home, but checking into hotels in Singapore feels incredibly slow. My child kept asking when we would finally be done.
**Overall:** I'd still recommend this hotel for business travelers and tourists.
GGuest UserI stayed at Lyf Funan Singapore for 2nights as a business traveller.
The design is fun and colorful, not your typical hotel vibe. The room is compact but works fine, with a private bathroom, and the sink is outside the bathroom which is actually quite convenient. I stayed in a standard room—it’s okay for couples or friends.
The hotel has more of a co-living feel. There’s a shared kitchen, dining area, and even a small workout corner, so it feels more social than a normal hotel.
Breakfast was a bitsimple with limited options, just a few simple dishes and some bakery items. I’d recommend skipping it and eating outside instead.
Location is definitely a big plus. It’s inside Funan Mall, super convenient for shopping and food. You can also easily walk to places like Fort Canning Park (right across the road), Clarke Quay, and Merlion Park.
Overall, nice stay if you like modern design and a lively vibe—just don’t expect too much from the breakfast.
GGuest UserSurprised about hotel room upgrade from queen size bed to king size bed! Room was spacious enough to put several large luggages together on the floor. The amazing location juz opposite Takashimaya and Paragon and mosque@Orchard Road. The hotel staffs were all very friendly and approachable. Asian buffet style breakfast@Eden restaurant - normally can only find plain porridge but here surprisingly we found delicious fish porridge with no fishy smell! Thank you, Pullman hotel for excellent services.
贤贤蛋The room was spacious and had a nice bay view. However, the bathroom was not as depicted in the photos. The shower was in the tub itself and not beside it. Tub was set in the ground and we found a caterpillar and ants around.
Breakfast was very lacking in variety. Not worth paying for.
On Mon morning, we were woken very early by a loud engine noise. A worker was cleaning the wooden decks right outside and it lasted until late afternoon.
JJay Sae LeeWe were going to store our luggage before checking in, but luckily the front desk staff Mr. Faddilli assisted us for an early check in. We were very happy for the early check in. The hotel location is superb and the lobby is very spacious. But there were not much amenities provided for a 4 star hotel. Overall we are satisfied.
YYueguangxiadewanzilunFor a country as expensive as Singapore 🇸🇬, a hostel priced in the 100s is definitely great value for money. Many local Chinese people stay here, and you can learn about Singapore's history by chatting with them. The closest MRT stations are Lavender and Jalan Besar, and it's also very near Little India, making it super convenient to get to all of Singapore's major attractions. There's a food court right downstairs, which is probably one of the cheapest dining options in Singapore, helping you save a lot on food. I stayed here for three days and thought it was pretty good!
