Hotels near Alcatraz in San Francisco

Easy check-in with friendly staff. The room was clean, comfortable, and included breakfast. The location is very convenient—within walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, with plenty of restaurants, the aquarium, bus tour meeting points, ferries across the bay, and boats to Alcatraz Island. There is also easy access to the Golden Gate Bridge by bus, cable car, or even a leisurely jog. The only downside is that no bottled water was provided, whereas other IHG Hotels & Resorts properties I’ve stayed at offer unlimited bottled water. Overall, I got exactly what I expected from Holiday Inn—a consistently satisfactory stay.

Be sure to view the Hotel Caza website for the extensive list of additional fees associated with the booking (destination fee, parking, etc). The prices are very transparent on the site and aren’t as clear booking through third party. This hotel has incredible customer service! The front desk ambassadors are warm and welcoming from check-in to check-out. Vanessa and her colleague truly provide world class customer service. She provided 10-15% off coupons for restaurants on the pier. We had a fantastic time for my mother’s birthday in San Francisco and it would not have been the same with another hotel. The location of Hotel Caza is near Fishermans Wharf. It is walkable to many attractions such as the Coit Tower, Ghirardelli’s, the piers, etc. There are an abundance of great restaurants nearby. We had a delicious brunch next door at “Eight am” cafe. Other attractions are a bit further out and require transportation such as Golden Gate Park, Sausalito, and redwood forests. This is a very family oriented hotel. There are many games in the lobby for children and adults. Bicycles to peruse the city are provided on a first come first serve basis each morning. The swimming pool is on the smaller side and always has kids in it. The evening cookies are packaged and not freshly baked. The lobby has an overpowering smell of perfume. Overall, we had an amazing time at this hotel and highly recommend it for family vacations!

The hotel has a pleasant location with several restaurants and bars nearby. There aren't as many homeless people as you might think, but you shouldn't go down the hill; it gets quite bad there. The elevator isn't for people who are afraid of heights. The reception staff were very friendly. The room was adequate for one person, and you can open a window. Bring your own shower gel; only shampoo, conditioner, and a bar of soap are provided. All in all, I would book this hotel again if I'm ever in San Francisco.

Facilities: Fully equipped. Cleanliness: Very clean. Environment: This was my first time seeing an elevator like this; I'd only ever seen them in movies before. Breakfast: I loved the yogurt and the apples; the apples were very fresh. The front desk staff was very helpful and even asked if I needed help calling a taxi. I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again next time I'm in San Francisco 😊

The two-night stay was initially acceptable, as expected, given the free parking and decent room facilities; the room was clean and tastefully decorated. The first day's receptionist was an elderly gentleman of Indian descent, very friendly and easy to talk to. Even when he was busy, we parked neatly ourselves, and he thanked us and gave us a thumbs up. However, the second day's receptionist was a middle-aged Chinese man (his accent was probably *********), which was quite unpleasant and the most frustrating part of our San Francisco Highway 1 road trip. The parking area had signs indicating that cars couldn't leave until after 9:00 AM. We were in a hurry and wanted to leave around 8:30 AM. Seeing the sign, we thought we'd wait, but the parking area was indeed crowded, and it would be difficult to leave without moving our car. However, a family of Europeans next to us carefully drove out, and as we were about to leave, the Chinese man, with a stern face, started filming us with his phone while shouting, ”If you back out again, it's dangerous driving! I'm calling the police! You need to see the signs; you can't leave after 9:00 AM. You need to know the rules!” He completely ignored the family of Europeans leaving. We gave up and thought we'd just wait, but less than two minutes later, another young Western man came in wanting to drive out as well. He went to the front desk and spoke a few words to the Chinese man, and the Chinese man ran over to the garage and moved several cars aside so the young Western man's car could back out. It wasn't even nine o'clock yet. We were furious. Wasn't this blatant discrimination and differential treatment, especially from the Chinese man? We didn't have time to argue with him, just glared at him a few times, and drove off. We still felt disgusted afterwards; that guy had a bitter, resentful look on his face the whole time. If it weren't for the Indian grandfather on our first day, we wouldn't have given him a single cent for service.

The hotel is in a great location, right near Union Square. If you like walking, you can practically reach all the downtown attractions on foot from here. Interestingly, when you enter through the side door of the hotel, there's a cable car parked inside – I'm not sure if it's for display or still operational, but I did take a ride on a cable car at a station near the hotel later. Inside the room, beyond the towels and large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, there was nothing else. Not even a disposable shower cap. There was no complimentary bottled water either. While there was a capsule coffee machine, there was no kettle, so I had to ask the housekeeper for one. The bar on the 46th floor has fantastic views; it's a great spot for a drink and to enjoy San Francisco at night. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but I'm sure it's nice too.

Free parking is available, and there are some small restaurants conveniently located near the hotel. Bus routes 28 and 30, which cover classic sightseeing spots, are right nearby and offer direct access to Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Palace of Fine Arts. It would be even better if breakfast was included. The room was quite clean, but since it's next to the road, it can sometimes be a bit noisy in the morning and evening.

The location of the hotel is very good. The rooms are a little small but very clean. Service is very friendly and helpful. Check in was very quick and professional. The parking is in a public parking building (100m distance) and can be organised over the hotel

Very Hippie style hotel. You can have free coffee in the morning and free wine during evening time. You also can play music with turntables in your room. The most funny thing is you could choose one plant in the front desk and bring to your room.

The location is located near Fisherman's Wharf, which is very convenient for travel. The hotel is more expensive than Union Square. The parking fee is US$75 per night. The hotel does not have its own parking lot. It is recommended that those who rent a car can go to the surrounding parking lot to park their car before checking in. The hotel service is very good. There are many things in the room, but they all need to be paid for.
