The Crown Manor House Hotel ★★★★
"I spent an enjoyable two nights at the Crown Manor Park hotel. The location was perfect for discovering the New Forest. Check in was easy. My room was on the 1st floor facing the road, it had air con which was very welcome. The room had a welcome tray with biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. This was replenished on the second day.The bath room was quite small . It had a shower over the bath with shampoo and shower gel provided, lots of hot water. Two large bath towels were available. Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection of hot and cold food. Tea and coffee were served at the table. I would certainly stay here again."
Penny Farthing Hotel & Cottages ★★★
"The bed was too big for the room which resulted in bruised legs from the posts at the bottom of the bed. The mattress was too big for the bed which resulted in me falling out of bed as it sank on the edge of the bed. The remote for the tv was taped at the back so the batteries didn’t fall out but the remote didn’t work and had to do it manually on the side of the tv. We asked for a quiet room and was put in a room which was on the main road. The road was extremely busy and even though it was extremely hot (we were given a fan) we could not have the windows open as the road was so noisy however even with the windows closed the noise kept us awake. The shower was very slippery too and the taps on the sink were very difficult to turn off. The breakfast was very good as was the service we received"
The New Forest Inn ★★
"Nice cosy rooms above a pleasant pub. It accepts dogs but didn't feel it was very dog friendly as no access for dogs to go for a wee, no dog bowls or anything dog related in the room even though the dog was booked in. Friendly staff and the food at the pub was tasty."
The Trusty Servant Inn ★★★
"This is beautiful country pub with lovely gardens. The disappointment is that the food is not up to the standards of the environment. Definitely quantity over quality. One of our party ordered the filo pastry pie which was overcooked, served with an over powering sauce and vast numbers of roast potatoes - frankly it looked completely off putting and she ate approximately 25% of it. Other offerings were bland and ungarnished. The environment is wonderful but I will containing my visits to a drink and a packet of crisps."
Travelodge Stoney Cross Lyndhurst ★★★
"If you’re looking to stay somewhere on a budget and you don’t mind all facilities being the most basic then this place is fine. However bear in mind that this hotel looks like a run down building that from the roadside looks like a condemned building. Our room smelt dirty, had a winter tog duvet on the bed in the height of a heatwave, no cold water from the sink unless you run the tap for 5 minutes, one fan which is usually acceptable but when you’re in the midst of a heatwave and have a dog with you and you politely ask for another only to be told ‘1 room 1 fan policy’ by the receptionist….lets just say we will not be returning. Personally I had a sleepless night due to the heat whereas I don’t think an extra fan considering there were vacant rooms would have been too much bother. The receptionist herself said ‘you do know where you’re staying don’t you?!’ which really did imply a lot. Before I move onto the positive be aware of the rats in the car park. The location for getting to the main road is good and the shower was actually a positive too. The mattress was comfortable despite not getting any sleep. My advice would be only stay here if you really have to!"
Ormonde House Hotel ★★★
"Solo traveller with my dog. A lovely room but very steep stairs as we were in the top of the building. It was a heatwave so very hot! A fan was provided. Across the road and onto the New forest it could not be more beautiful! Breakfast was very nice but it was a little slow at times, not helped be me being a bit short of time . Shower was amazing ! Some road noise outside but mostly due to a manhole cover in the road being hit by bigger vehicles. It was manageable. Very friendly staff. And dog friendly and clean . a good stay and I will certainly return when in the area ."
'Spire View' New Forest Holiday Home - 3 minutes walk to the open forest ★★★
Forest Lodge Hotel ★★★★
"Really nice locution with a nice welcoming! We just had some small black fits in the bathroom which was annoying at the evening when it’s chill out time"
The Stag Hotel and Mailmans Arms ★★★
