"We arrived at the hotel on New Years Eve and were informed that the sports facilities were not available for New Years Eve and New years day. As we had booked the hotel partly due to these facilities we were disappointed. We should have been informed of this on booking. The room was very basic with basic provisions of coffee, tea, milk and bathroom provisions. We were expected to buy the rest from reception. I had cause to clean the toilet and found that the toilet brush should have been thrown out some time previously as it was worn out. There was little grip on the bath for using the shower or bath, which made me feel unsafe. Breakfast was served cooked but cold on New Years day and the eggs looked disgusting. The mushrooms were slimy and the coffee was undrinkable."

"We had a lovely starter and main course, really enjoyed it. However, the sticky toffee pudding, which we all had, was not good at all. The sauce tasted burnt and the pudding dry, we should have sent it back but we don’t like to do that"

"Party central. Good location right in the centre of town. Beautiful old beamed inn. Good breakfast. We stayed Friday and Saturday and our room overlooked the high street. Customers sitting at tables on the street below our windows, which we couldn’t open because of the cigarette smoke drifting upwards. Friday night is live band night. Very good band, loud, finished dead on 11pm. Saturday, customers outside chatting and drinking until 2am Sunday morning."

"From the moment we arrived we had service with a smile from all the staff particularly from the manager Nicole. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff and the landlord Martin. In a time of themed bars catering to the tourists it was nice to stay in a traditional pub which had a large section of cask beers as well as the normal lagers., ciders and Guinness. The bedroom we had was lovely and very clean. It was situated 5 mins walk from the High Street and 10 mins away from the picturesque river front. If we are in this area again would definitely stay here."
