"Gorgeous old family estate turned Hotel/Guest House. Spacious and comfortable room. Perfect location to come back to after driving around exploring the Scottish Boarders. Breakfast service was lacking in its service. Young and inexperienced staff spent too much time standing around doing nothing instead of ensuring the buffet was stocked, used dishes cleared off tables, or even tables set for guests."

"The booking process was straightforward, with availability here, despite nearby hotels being fully-booked well in advance. The place is more easily found than the address would indicate, being right on the main road south from Newtown St Boswells. The establishment is a bit of a Jeckyll and Hyde place. On the night I arrived things seemed slightly in dissaray, probably as not many staff were on duty. What came across as an off-hand atttitude was probably because the people working that shift were not quite in tune with the off-beat vibe of the place, which in the more experienced team members shows itself in a lovely off-the-wall sense of humour. The big strength of the place is the food - all was excellent, both at evening meal and breakfast. The only blips were in checking in for evening meal, as it requires elbowing through (literally I'm afraid!) to the bar before being seated. Everything then went smoothly, with great choices, beautifully-cooked. Likewise breakfast was excellent, apart from the coffee which lacked flavour. The decor is an useasy mixture of elegant period interiors with shabby chic, I suspect not all of the "shabby" component being intentional! Again, the quirkiness is part of the charm when staff are in tune with the vibe. The bedroom accommodation was comfortable but in need of a refresh, with some of the fixtures wobbly or mis-aligned. That said, all the bathroom fixtures were scrupulously cleaned and were gleaming. Any falling short of smartness was more than compensated for in the reasonable price. All-in-all a memorable stay in a place simply oozing character!"

"Beautiful old house , basic b&b , bathroom is not en-suite but is private, lots of parking but not near enough to Melrose to walk. Host seems a really nice man but we couldn’t get our check in instructions as told as he didn’t answer the phone. Breakfast adequate only."

"Warm welcome in a lovely house and very relaxing 3 days. Great room with very comfortable bed in an amazing setting with wonderful views over the Tweed Valley. Suzy’s food is excellent and she and Katie really looked after us. Good walking around Dryburgh Abbey and St Boswells. Clint Lodge is a gem. Looking forward to coming back."
