Summary: Book here under extreme caution, as your reservation is at high risk of being canceled without explanation or even notification 48 hours prior to check-in. I never write negative reviews, and am only writing this to hopefully prevent others from experiencing the same ruined family vacation. If you're on the fence with Westwinds - I implore you, book elsewhere. My family (7 families total) booked and paid a deposit for 5 units at Wyndham Westwinds for a 7/21-7/28 family reunion vacation, 6-8 months in advance of check-in. The Fri night before our Sun cross-country flight, we discovered Wyndham had cancelled 2 units earlier that day. We were not alerted at all of this. We only found out because we called asking about pack and plays and the front desk staffer could no longer find our reservation (as they easily had the times we called before). We assumed it was a mistake, as It’d be crazy that Wyndham Westwinds—a hotel we’ve vacationed at for decades—would cancel reservations 2 days before check-in, during peak tourism season, without even notifying us. The curt hotel staffer directed us to Wyndham’s online booking main line. The Wyndham online booking staffer saw our reservation in the system, confirmed it was still in place, and directed us back to the resort. They saw no issue. My husband and I played middle-men between the Wyndham Westwinds resort and Wyndham’s online booking platform from that moment forward. Over the next 24 hours we worked tirelessly to get the story between many annoying calls. Finally, Saturday night before check-in, they confirmed the units were indeed cancelled (citing “inventory issues”). They said we’d have nowhere to stay if we arrived at Westwinds, and they could refund us or relocate us to a hotel of equal or greater value. These were options offered less than 24 HOURS before our flight/planned check-in (mind you, we have two young kids, so this was a hugely inconvenient shake-up to be dealing with 24 hours before a cross-country trip with two kids under five). They confirmed Willow Bay hotel was the only hotel that had 2x units available and that it was 20-min drive away from Westwinds. They said it was beautiful and equal in value and quality. We’d already wasted hours/days on the phone when we should have been packing. My extended family was beyond upset, as the hotel split-up reality we faced would alter the nature of our intended family vacation significantly. Due to timing constraints and because we’d have NO place to stay, we had to accept the relocation, in good faith. Upon Willow Bay check-in, we quickly learned we’d been swindled. Willow Bay was unarguably lower quality and priced at a lower rate than Westwinds. The front desk staffer even proactively observed this to us, expressing sympathy. We also learned from Westwinds staff that Wyndham had done this exact same last-minute cancelling + relocation to a shoddier “resort” strategy with other families. This was an excellent resort in a great location. The two bedroom two bathroom suite was well kept, clean, and comfortable. Most or all of the two bedroom units (including this one) are oceanfront, and the views from the balcony were phenomenal. The location was great as well, on a quieter beach in North Myrtle Beach away from all the crowds, but still an easy drive to the boardwalk / Broadway on the Beach, etc. The only warning is that you should just say no to the timeshare presentation / owners update /sales presentation when you check in. They may lie to you and make you feel like it is mandatory. It is not. They may also creatively name it in a bunch of ways to make it seem like it's not a sales pitch. It is. Just say no.

It's our second time coming to that resort and we had booked a condo expecting it to be beachfront as it was the first time, only to learn at check-in that it would not. What they promise is "ocean view" no matter how deceiving that "ocean view" can be, not "ocean front", and when you reserve a condo here, there is apparently no guarantee you will indeed get the beachfront condo you were expecting to get. Our view and our balcony was on the side of the building, with a view much more on the street than the beach. We were seeing more or less 10% of the seashore, as on top of this, we were on a floor where our view of the sea was obstructed by the neighboring buildings. At check-in we told them this was not what we had reserved. They answered this is not how it works. The price is the same for all condos regardless if its beachfront or not and that we should have called if we wanted to request a beachfront condo in order to maybe increase our chances to get one. Because even with calling in advance, there is no way to guarantee a beachfront condo. We would never have booked to that resort if we had knew this. If you require a beachfront condo, you can't go there. It's a dice roll you will get one, and there is about 20% chances you won't. They should be putting a different pricing to beachfront condos to side condos but they are not. If it weren't from that the place would be great really. But because of this there not a single chance we will ever book a condo to that resort again. If you want a beachfront condo, don't go there. Choose a place that guarantees the beachfront view you expected.

They will cancel your reservation that you made six months in advance with confirmation and deposit and then tell you there’s an “inventory issue” which they consider an “inconvenience” and will try to reassure you that other families were also told their reservation was canceled and they don’t have a place to stay, either. Total incompetence. Will never attempt to stay here again.

This is an awesome property in North Myrtle Beach within steps of the Beach. It's a bit limited for parking which is on the 1st and 2nd floors, with overflow parking across the street, no charge for parking at any space. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles as far as amenities but there is a small pool. They have regular activities scheduled. The rooms were a good size for a family of 4. Not much in the immediate area as far as attractions you can walk to, it is nothing but rental properties everywhere, you must have a car here to get anywhere worth seeing. Our favorite place was Broadway at the Beach. The only thing we didn't like was having to wait for a salesperson to give us our room key bracelets while they were trying to sell timeshares. That was wrong and we complained about that to management. The staff was polite and helpful during our week here. Other than that, one slight at check in, it was a great stay overall.

Wish it were possible to guarantee an Ocean Front unit in advance. Don't know until you get there what type of room you'll get. We had to haggle with the manager until we got what we wanted.

Westwind is a beautiful property with a beautiful view of the ocean. They have a fellowship are that's ocean view and many onsite amenities. The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Wyndham Westwind is one of my favorite Club Wyndham properties to visit. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Excellent service entire time, Front desk Anna, Al, Dysteny, Tiattiana, and Alya, were so accommodating, polite and pleasant. Condo was modern , kitchen appliances and pots ,pans and utensils were top notch. There were so many small things that made your stay perfect, from the bathroom supplies to the wrist bands with your room key built in, to the top shelf grills and the built in corn hole game, and the foot wash by the beach path. 3 hot tubs and an indoor/outdoor heated pool. We had an issue with our washing machine/dryer and within 4 hours we had a new one installed in our room!! We were fortunate to have oceanfront, Thank you for a wonderful stay

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath fully supplied unit for two weeks. The location is right on the ocean. The unit was very clean and roomy. The second bathroom was not inside the second bedroom, but in the hallway. The master bedroom and bath was very good. Internet and cell phone service was good. The biggest fault is the covered parking spaces. If you have a small vehicle,or a large golf cart, it is fine. Parking large vehicles can be a challenge. Disable parking spots are few and far from the elevators. There is a overflow parking lot across the street. Quite difficult for some people. The other irritation is the heavy Wyndham sales presence in the area. Wyndham has at least 5 properties. in the area. Get accustomed to saying NO. The area is excellent for access to shops, grocery stores, shows, restaurants. A car is need as North Myrtle area is spread out. The timing of our stay was perfect. Weather was not miserably hot or humid. The peak time for tourists was either past or waiting to arrive. We enjoyed our stay and will consider staying here again. I am already dreading the covered parking area .
