"Wonderful place to stay and dine. After our late arrival the staff was friendly and very cooperative. We could park our bikes in the Courtyard. First a drink on the terrace to catch the last rays of sunshine. We stayed some 5 years ago and were pleasantly surprised with the renovation of the rooms, building and grounds. All to great standards. The new restaurant and library-restaurant have a top English atmosphere. The food was nice and really above average, however can still be improved to the standard that they promise and want to reach. For now the restaurant price level is too high. The newly decorated room and bed, linen and pillows are top notch.! Tip: a small fridge and Nespresso machine would make it 100% We will surely return. PS Next. We bought the Buckled boots on internet😉"

"VE day celabrations & the place was buzzing. Lovely atmosphere. The room had a 4 poster which was very comfortable and a good view of Cosden Hill reminding me of the climb awaiting in the morning. "I rarely if at all write reviews unless they are either excellent or awful! This place was truly awful for our work Christmas lunch! We waited almost two hours for our main courses and the food was beyond shocking! I wish I’d taken pictures but if wasn’t appropriate to do this while people were having their meals! The roast potatoes were the size of jacket potatoes, the mushroom risotto looked like someone had been sick in a bowl, the duck was the smallest wing I’ve ever seen, I fact it looked like a duck foot! The waitress was extremely miserable and acted like it was a chore to be serving us! The deserts weren’t much better, the cream was off on the Pavlova, the Christmas pudding was obviously a teeny microwaveable thing out of a packet. We were in the basement bit and it was freezing. To be honest I can’t be bothered to go on because this review looks so awful. Would not come here again to eat and extremely disappointed that this was supposed to be a Christmas meal."
