"Stayed at Shakya house for 4 weeks while writing my thesis. It was absolutely Perfect! Saajan and his family invited me with open arms and took care of every need. They even invited me to celebrate Dashain with the family, an experience wich I Will never forget. The room was clean, hot water in the shower and a decent breakfast. Nothing to complain about. Also big thanks to Rana who become a good friend of mine during my stay. I’m fleecet grateful for my stay with you and hope to see you again in the future!"

"I chose this hotel as it was in a part of Kathmandu only 15 minutes from the airport and I was travelling back and forth to Kathmandu, so staying 3 times in all during my trip. Also because I was not keen on buffet evening meals and large impersonal establishments. I particularly like the roof terrace with views over the city where I ate each evening, and the semi-outside extension to the breakfast room, both comfortable and with good quality tasty food, but also the terrace above was a nice private place to sit and read with a drink late afternoon returning from sightseeing. As a vegetarian I had plenty of choice. Rooms were all spacious and comfortable, a nice decor and with delightful pottery goblets and mugs on the tea tray and a mini fridge with complimentary water, scrupulously clean and fresh. Everything you might need and my sleep was excellent, nice bedding and a quiet situation. 4 floors with a glass lift, and mainly business or professional travellers from what I could see. The staff are really professional and friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. I would certainly recommend this hotel."

"Premium Guest House managed by KGH which stands for Kathmandu Guest House. This is their Patan branch. Not as polished as their main outlet in Thamel but a very nicely reconstructed Newari building in the bustling commercial area of Patan surrounded by cool little cafes and restaurants. The rooms are clean, neat and bright with all.basic amenities. Their most economical room category, the one we booked (room 501) was about 20% smaller than advertised on trip.com. Beware that there is no elevator. For us staying on the 5th floor was not a problem but for some it might be too much of a climb All in all we had a good stay, staff was friendly and Mr Richin the manager is very good at managing the hotel. Recommended"

"This review of the Hotel Kutumba in Kathmandu is many months late in being written and posted. Life simply got in the way! But I still felt compelled to write about a very memorable stay at a fabulous boutique hotel. In January 2025, I stayed at the Kutumba for 10 nights with a group of 20 U.S. college students who were studying global health in Nepal for the month. We discovered a gem of a small hotel located in a great neighborhood. The rooms were large and spotlessly clean, the breakfast buffet was delicious, the rooftop bar/restaurant provided a lovely escape from the bustle of the city, and staff members were warm, friendly, and efficient. When one of our students got sick at night, the manager even had a staff member drive the student to the local clinic for medical attention. I will be bringing another group of students to Kathmandu in January 2026 and certainly plan on staying at this lovely boutique hotel again."

"I've stayed at a few other hotels in the Thamel area in a similar price range, and this one was overwhelmingly cleaner by comparison. I was surprised at how meticulously they cleaned the room every day. What really set it apart from other Thamel hotels was that the sheets and towels were genuinely white and clean. The breakfast, though simple, was delicious, and all the staff were very kind. As for the downsides, if you're over 170cm tall, you'll find yourself ducking in many places due to the hotel's traditional architecture, even in your own room. I bumped my head several times before getting used to it. Also, the water pressure in the shower isn't great. On the first day, there was no hot water in the shower, and the front desk staff's response wasn't very courteous. They told me to use the shower in the next room but offered no apology whatsoever. During check-in, they also just rattled off the bare minimum information. However, this particular staff member was the only one who wasn't friendly."

"Location is perfect, as it is located inside Patan Durbar - a heritage site of Kathmandu. It's also convenient, near a lot of restaurants from Western to Japanese and Korean, a cafeteria, and more. There's a square where you can enjoy local street food, bobatea, and fast food at very cheap price. Staff are friendly and supportive. They’re a family with 2 sons and their father. If you want to go out after 10pm, you have to tell them so they can wait and open the door for you cause they’ll lock the door at 10pm. For me, it's a lot safer. I booked only 1 week at first for testing, but everything is ok for me so I extended it."
