"The hotel here is nice. The area is bad, but that is to be expected when traveling to a rural area. Upon arriving you’ll immediately be pressured into buying a tour. The price I was offered was $100 for two people. The tour was from 8-4. They do bring you to all the sites which for us was good. We had an uncomfortable experience on the second day of our tour (which was booked through the hotel) it was only supposed to be $80 for a half day where they then take us to the airport, but instead at the end he charged us $95 in the local currency. Overall I would recommend the hotel, but no need to book a tour with them."
"It took two rooms. It felt there were only ones in the hotel. Breakfast was ordered on a small menu, the choice is not big but for the morning is enough. Location is a little far from the city, on a small altitude. A nice place, very careful territory. The rooms are comfortable, pleasant balconies with furniture. Everything you need in the rooms is available. We liked it."
"It was really speechless. The front desk actually led us to another small hotel with a listing price of only 100,000k. The room conditions were so bad that we resolutely refused to accept it, so we reluctantly arranged the room. To be honest, I feel bad after experiencing this. The room is very cold. What's interesting is that the quilt is actually a summer quilt. It is very thin and has no quilt. It is not really unacceptable for every guest to change the bedding. English at the front desk is very poor and almost impossible to communicate. There is noddle and soup for breakfast, which taste good, and Lao coffee is also worth a try."
"Pukyo is a 5-room B&B run by David who is a very friendly and helpful host. We got a room on the ground floor which was excellent for my husband who does not walk well let alone climb stairs. It was a big family room with a king-sized double bed and 2 singles. There is an ensuite bathroom with a very good hot-water heater. The bathroom floor gets wet and slippery after the shower but there is an anti-slip mat and Daivd knows about the problem which he is going to fix this summer. The aircon is very powerful and there's also a wall fan as an option. There's also a small TV but we did not use it. The B&B is about 4 min from the airport and less than 10 from town. David will take you to town for dinner in his comfortable van and wait for you. He very kindly bought dinner back for us the 2nd night as my husband was too tired to go out. There's a fridge stocked with beers and drinks and a water dispenser in the living area. We had wonderful chats with David who is a great font of knowledge and felt like we were staying with a friend rather than a commercial lodging. There are mosquitoes in the evening but David sells lemongrass -scented repellent for 11,000LAK - very effective also for outdoor tours. David has a outdoor seating area at the back and it's a very peaceful and pleasant place for breakfast or a beer at sundown. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with David."
"Ok facility that offers rooms of average dimensions. Air-con good, no separate cabinet fir shower, but pressure ok and response time fairly fast powerpoints situated where they are needed. Downside is no fridge. Only $25 AUD per day so not an OK option. Offers tailored tours of field of jars/bomb craters/etc to suit. Full day tours are expensive ($100 US) if done solo. As to whether these are worth the outlay is questionable but maybe worth doing one time."
