"Air con worked but was a little noisy. Room had tired decor, was damp smelling and just about adequately clean. Breakfast wasn’t very good value, perhaps with the exception of the sausage and bacon, you could tell they used cheaply sourced ingredients. There were flies laying eggs on display items also which just put me off - they didn’t appear to have a fly exterminator in the restuarant"

Harbour Heights Hotel ★★★★

"Our stay at Harbour Heights was extremely enjoyable! . From the greeting we received from the reception staff on our arrival to the equally warm farewell when we left. Our  room was very comfortable & larger than your typical standard room. The bathroom well presented, the bed very comfortable bed and all other facilities in the room perfect (I was very impressed to find an iron and ironing board). We were very impressed by the breakfast and found the restaurant manager very lovely and helpful. He kept a very tight ship, ensured that everything was replenished the moment it ran out and the staff who worked with him were equally pleasant and very helpful. Pre-dinner drinks and dinner on the terrace was terrific, and what a view! The hotel as in great condition, everything looked newly updated, corridor carpets very clean, wall tiles, bathroom fittings etc., of good quality ., The hôtel was very clean and modern, whilst still retaining its original character. This was our first visit to Harbour Heights but will certainly not be our last. A most wonderful location for a short break,! "

Travelodge Poole ★★★

"Beware - having spent 4 nights here, I have just received parking charge notices for two of the days despite the website claiming that there is free parking and despite the fact that I registered by vehicle details for the duration of my stay as they asked me to and despite my contract being solely with Travelodge. Of course I am all over this like a rash but understand that Travelodge care little about complaints and charge for the privilege of attempting to phone them up. A good review will follow should anyone there fix it. Original remedial tactics may be needed here."

"I've stayed in both Premier Inns in Poole over the years, and the Travelodge in the town centre. Both Premier Inns were disappointing, and the town centre Travelodge doesn't have aircon (essential in August). Easy to find, a good welcome, and a lovely room. Well-decorated and, as far as I could see, spotless. The aircon was already on so I turned it off as it was already nice and cool. The window also opens but there is some noise from the traffic outside so I didn't keep it open. Plain, simple, clean, good staff and good parking. I'll be back."

Premier Inn Poole Centre (Holes Bay) Hotel ★★★

"This was a bit of an insight into Whitbread’s new strategy. The restaurant, based in what was previously run as a pub, was hopelessly understaffed for breakfast. We arrived to find no food, no plates, and staff overwhelmed. The room we had was clean and comfortable, but just about every other aspect of the stay was extremely poor. The building toilets were closed, reception didn’t seem to be manned at all, and what used to be an inviting pub is no longer. In terms of location, this one is a bit out of the way and not much is within walking distance. It’s good as a bed for the night, but the food situation has gone downhill since the new shift in strategy. Hopefully it’ll work out in the end, but the usually reliable breakfast was non-existent."
