Hotel Poblado Coveñas ★★★

"I stayed at this hotel with my family for four nights and five days. I must say that, in my opinion, it's the hotel with the best beach access in the area. The sea is beautiful, and they offer free parasols and hammocks. The restaurant offers a varied menu at affordable prices, providing excellent value. Areas for improvement: the building's design means the pools receive very little sun during the day, so they can feel a bit cold and confined. Similarly, there are no access ramps between the rooms on the upper floors and the second-floor pool, so despite being so close, you have to go down and back up to access that area and the second-floor bar. The hotel plays loud indoor music by the pool and beach, which doesn't make for easy relaxation or reading. Basically, music plays all day at a volume that I find unpleasant, and it reaches the rooms until approximately 10 p.m. And the worst part of all are the rooms on the first floor behind the bar and next to the social area behind the beach. Although they have no windows (which makes you feel like you're in a prison), they aren't soundproofed, so you hear the noise from the bar and social area until the early hours of the morning, a situation we experienced on our first night. However, once we complained to reception, we were moved to another room where we were able to rest comfortably. They should also add clotheslines in the bathroom. And if you're not one of those who takes cold showers, it's important to know that they don't have hot water. In conclusion, it's a good hotel that could become excellent, improving its approach and definitely eliminating those windowless rooms that look more like prison cells."

"We had booked one night for 8 people. We were arriving in our own vessel (a catamaran) and they failed to tell us before arriving that if the tide was high the could not pick us from the catamaran. At the time we arrived, and we were close to their location they said that they could not pick up us and we should find a way to get there by car. The nearest port where we could dock our catamaran was one hour away of sailing in choppy and dangerous waters plus an hour by car to get to their place (if we found any transportation close to that dock and at night). While we were all waiting in the catamaran and the tide was getting worse I must have called them at least 10 times to figure out if they could help us find another boat from the area as we were not seeing any close by. They continued hanging up on me and saying "So sorry, its not our problem". As the afternoon was falling and the ties getting more dangerous we needed to find a place to moore for the night. The hotel then charges me the full amount and sends me an email saying that we were a no-show. The full amount was USD 1,300 for one night. I started calling them again to reason with them to reach an agreement because they failed to provide a service and they continued hanging up on me. Could never speak to a manager and was never able to get passed the person who attends probably at the desk. This hotel is advertised as luxury in the region, yet their customer service is absolutely awful. We lost USD 1,300 and had an awful and dangerous time in the water."

"BE CAREFULL SMELL FRAUD. First at all i found this hotel on the net. i filled all reservations forms and even paid with my credit card. well that is not the end. nothing happened for a few days, until i decided to call a phone number listed that nobody ever answered. eventually they inform me via email i have to re-do everything again via whatsapp (ahhh). i have to send money directly from my bank account to a suppose banco Colombia account. send all info via whatsapp. i did all of that still thinking maybe they just lack modern payments. they claimed payment did not go trough and that i have to do it again. i refused, then they said that the person in charge of the bank account was offshores. what the hell. i told then to cancel the whole thing. please stay away."

"The place is beautiful and unique, the people are very friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious, although we preferred the food at the village to that of the hostel where we stayed, as it was more Caribbean and more affordable. The sea and the beach are beautiful and very clean; generally, after the sunbathers leave, the beach is very deserted."
