"The scenery in Shiping is comparable to that of Dali. The ancient town retains its original charm and isn't crowded. The hotel is very close to Yilong Lake, and the rooms have two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows, nestled amidst fields and countryside, offering beautiful views. The downside is the poor breakfast. While rice noodles are delicious in Yunnan, this place's was completely bland, lacking even salt, and the milk was made from powdered milk – unacceptable."

We complained to the hotel that after breakfast, when we returned to our room, we suddenly saw someone coming out of our room. When we asked him why he hadn't greeted us before entering, he said he was checking for a leak. This was a bit baffling. I asked who he was, and he said he was a security guard. When we asked if there was a room mix-up—was it Building A or Building B?—he said he didn't know. We seriously suspected it was a thief, as he wasn't wearing a uniform or a name tag. When we complained to the hotel, the woman there said it was a minor matter and went on to boast about how good the hotel was. I said, "Couldn't they at least call ahead before entering the room? If everyone can freely enter and leave a guest's room, what kind of security is that?" They never seemed to have any ill intentions towards us. We were originally planning to stay, but we checked out immediately."
