"I booked this holiday package with EasyJet. On arriving at the airport we had a private transport to Slano. The journey from Dubrovnik airport to Vila Riva was 1hr. Prior to the holiday, EasyJet emailed to say that we needed to inform VR of our ETA - they were quick to respond with a detailed explanation of how to enter the building. When we arrived in Slano on the 1st August, there was a food/drinks festival - we were dropped off just around the corner as the road was closed to traffic (I knew where to head due to already having a look on google earth at that the surrounding area before even arriving in Croatia). We tapped the code into the keypad by the front door, as explained in the instructions and video clip and our envelope with keys were on the front desk. We headed to the 2nd floor and walked into an open plan apartment. The kitchen/dinner/bedroom was immaculate - very well maintained and equipped. We did not use any of the kitchen appliances as we ate out every evening and always purchased something from the bakery around the corner for lunch. Beautiful view from the window overlooking the bay. The apartments were always peaceful, no noise from any of the other apartments. There was never any problems getting a sun-bed around the pool. These apartments seemed to be used by guests who all seemed to have cars so they were in and out all the time. One day we had the pool area to ourselves all morning. We went out on a boat trip with Slano boat trip, fabulous day. If you did want to cook a meal then the kitchen was well equipped. Even though I took my own shower gel, I preferred too use the dispensary shower gel in the shower - lovely shower, very roomy with two shower heads. Lovely big bed, mattress was a little hard for us (we are used to a very soft memory foam mattress). Staff are lovely, they man the desk in the mornings only, but always at the end of a phone/email if required. The kitchen had a scouring pad/sponge with a dispenser with washing up liquid in, there were dishwasher tablets under the sink (didn’t use the dishwasher). 2 tea-towels, bin liners and toilet rolls & kitchen roll. Hair dryer, iron and board in the room with a large airer. Would highly recommended these apartments. Would return without any doubt."

"This hotel is beautiful, very clean, great food and service. The pool area is nice and they look after you putting umbrellas up and giving you nice towels. Great to have its own private beach too. It was my birthday and they delivered chocolates all wrapped up nicely to the room, lovely touch."

"I spent 11 nights at this hotel having travelled with Jet2 Holiday. I have travelled extensively from Costa Rica and St Lucia in the west to India in the east and many of the hotels I have stayed in were all inclusive. When I first arrived at this hotel the first thing I did when I arrived in my room was open the door to the balcony. I couldn't believe the view. It was unbelievable and I thought at first it was a picture. One of the best views from a hotel I have ever had. Unfortunately it didn't stay like that as the second thing I noticed was a quite big yellow stain on the carpet. I am not sure if this was an iron burn or something more sinister but I chose not to stand on it. Other than that the room was fairly ordinary and kind if lacked any features. It was however kept very clean by the daily cleaners. The hotel in general lacked a bit of personality with most ot being paited white. Another thing that I found bizarre was what was classed as that lounge bar which was basically a large wide corridor which lead to the dining room. As a result it lacked atmosphere. The pool bar was small with white plastic tables and chairs most of which were damaged and in fairly poor condition. The area roundabout the pool also had a large selection of white plastic loungers so there was never a problem getting one although after lying on them for a short period they became uncomfortable. To be fair the hotel shop sold covers for them at €26 a pop. Next the food. I thought it was fair good and well cooked even if it nit the best I have ever had. Next the drinks and this was one of my biggest bug bears. I drink Bacardi/ white rum and nowadays virtually nothing else. My problem was that this place did not have any. Neither bacardi or cheaper white rum. I did try their dark rum but it tasted like someone had brewed it in a shed so I gave that a miss. As a result I was in bed most nights by 9.30. At the start of this I said that I have travelled extensively and never before have I come across a hotel that didn't stock white rum even the cheap stuff. Surely, on holiday, I should get to drink what I want to drink and not what a hotel dictates. Overall I think hotel is just a little bit scruffy but with a bit of investment could be upgraded instead of being down graded by Jet2. I would also suggest a mini bus or similar to get people into Slano as I was told it was a 20 minute walk but in the heat it took me more like 40 or 45 minutes Even if the hotel made a small charge for it it it cost me €10 for a taxi the first time then €15 the second time. Someone got their sums wrong !"

Traveling with friends
Admiral Grand Hotel ★★★★★
"Came back last week after spending 5 days with friends to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary and we were not disappointed. As with all things, you take a risk booking a hotel, especially when you so want it to be the right place for a special occasion. When we arrived, it did not appear to be what I thought I had booked, in fact........it far exceeded our expectations. The reception was so friendly and the restaurant manager was asked if he would keep the restaurant open longer, as we were late from our flight and had not eaten. We were pleasantly surprised to be told " yes ". Our rooms were spacious and clean, and our view was something to behold. One of the most beautiful views we have ever encountered, stunning. We were half board, so breakfast and evening meal, with plenty of choice of foods. Due to the fact it was early May, it was quiet but absolutely suited us, and we had plenty of choice regarding availability of seats and sunbeds. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were so quiet, which also suited us. Two things that really stood out was the kindness and empathy the staff showed to my husband who due to a condition, experienced constant pain and the restaurant manager would help bring his food to the table if needed. The night of our anniversary was made so special, with the table all set up with a single rose and a glass of fizz on the house. As a previous manager of nurses within the NHS, I felt that the restaurant manager was one of the best we had ever encountered. So professional and hardworking, constantly scanning the room to ensure both customers and his staff ( many who were new ) were all cared for. The two things that I believe could be changed, is to ensure that there is a system to prevent towels being changed every day as this will cut back on energy costs and the second, would be to replenish tea & coffee in the room each day. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we hope to return next year."

Hotel Osmine ★★★★
"This review could be so different with just a few tweaks. The hotel is in a stunning location in Slano Bay. The views from the hotel are gorgeous. You are looking out onto the most tranquil of spots. The hotel is spotless and there are staff working constantly to keep it immaculate. We had a superior room with a sea view. The room was of a resonable size and again spotless. The air conditioning didnt seem to make any difference to our room temperature so having a portable fan helped us sleep as it was really warm through the night. The shower was good and always had hot water no matter what time you used it. There was shower available, but no shampoo or hair conditioner. Sadly there was no tea making facilities in the room so if you needed a cuppa you had to go elsewhere in the hotel. The two things that let the hotel down for me were the quality of the drinks available and also the food. With a bit more imagination the hotel could become four or five star. You could see local fisherman going out but sadly their catch didnt seem to make it to the chef in the Osmine. There was a lot of meat available(especially pork) but the menu became a bit repitive especially for us as we were there for ten days. In the restraunt we noticed a couple of quirks, one been that when you finished a course you never got your cuttlery replaced. I asked one of the waiters for more cuttlery and he pointed to a set table and told me to take it from there. The other thing that puzzled me was why they only put out cold milk at breakfast time. At lunch/dinner time if you wanted a cup of tea with milk there was none available. I asked one of the staff if we could get some and we were told no.So if you are from the UK get used to having your tea black. Some of the staff looked a bit tired and I think they were just waiting for the end of the season to arrive. The entertainment team worked hard and offered various sports to try like yoga, table tennis and volley ball. You could also use bikes for an hour free of charge , this was useful especially if you wanted to go into Slano to the nearest shop.If you had the bikes longer you were charges 6 euros an hour per bike. The hotel also lets you use paddle boards, kayaks and pedalos free of charge. These are on a first come first serve basis and most people take them out for less that an hour so you will never be waiting long to have a go. Would I go back to the Hotel Osmine...probably not but I will certainly go back to Croatia as its absolutely stunning."
