Staybridge Suites Southgate – Detroit Area

I booked this so-called “luxury” hotel in part because of the advertised hot breakfast but when I arrived, they informed me that their kitchen is being fixed and their breakfast will just be cold takeout. Too late to cancel and book another property of course. I should have received an email informing me that circumstances have changed. Poor management.

We live about 15 minutes from this hotel. We booked a night to take the kids to swim and have some family fun. We booked online, I checked the amenities and pool hours when I booked. We arrived at check in time got our room keys. The kids were super excited to swim so immediately went and put our suits on to go to the pool. Our room key would not get us into the pool so we went to the. Front desk and we were told that we had to leave an ID to get a pool key…. Ok weird but ok. Went all the way back to the third floor to fetch an Id, back to the front desk where we are then told that the pool is at capacity so we cannot swim. The pool capacity is 15 people and there is a wait list and then we would get one hour in the pool. Of course we were not happy. We were not told this at check in and this is not listed anywhere on the website. The manager working was extremely rude about it like this is the norm and we should have known. If I would have known this before booking or even at check in I would not have wasted 242.00 on this hotel. I will be leaving reviews on all sites to warn people and plan to follow up with corporate Monday. If you have a 150 room hotel the capacity of your pool should not be 15 people or you should not even list a the pool as an amenity.

We have been here since June do to a fire. And even though your not home it’s very welcoming. The staff is very friendly and polite. They take the time to ask how your day was and if you need anything. Eddie the kitchen guy is always smiling and ready to help and the maintenance guys they waste no time getting your repairs done. The appetizers ladies Gail and Jenny a mother and daughter team go out of there way to make sure you have everything you need to to enjoy your snacks. And Theresa on nights she is a blessing to the place. She takes care of everyone and everything. The company did very well with there choice of workers. And the ladies who clean the rooms do a fabulous job. Lisa the leader of the room service crew is always in a great mood even though you can see she is worn out from doing so much. Bruce and Roger always stopping to say hi and Karen from the Laundry service greets everyone with a smile and How’s Everything going? If you need a place to stay awhile you might consider this place!

Great service and hospitality from the whole staff! From checking in with Rose to breakfast with Edmond to check out with Yuting, amazing team!! Me and my family had insurance claim but had peace of mind staying here.

Newish property, and a welcome addition to this area of downriver Detroit, which, frankly, is not flush with decent lodging. Clean, and quiet. Friendly staff. My one-bedroom suite was nearly identical to one at a Residence Inn property, down to the floor plan, furniture placement, and location of the air vents. (I've spent a lot of time at RI's.) Breakfast was limited (Covid?), but there were many options, and the breakfast area was well organized, stocked, and tidy. Overall, a good experience, and I would stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Short drive from the airport! Stayed 9 nights. The hot breakfast buffet was delicious and clean. Suite was clean and felt sanitary. Laundry room free but detergent for $1. Full kitchen in suites. Fire pit outside with multiple gas grills. Work out room, swimming pool & jacuzzi. Staff nice and helpful especially the chef!

Super nice hotel. Staff is very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room was great and bed very comfortable.
