2-Star Hotels in Pingyao County

This charming courtyard house has an old-world charm that my family absolutely loved. The owner's homemade breakfast was light and delicious, and the whole experience was very comfortable. The owners were incredibly welcoming and warm. My kids had such a great time playing with their twins that they didn't want to leave! Wishing the owners and their family a happy new year in advance!

This has been our favourite stay in china by far! The owner is so generous and patient despite our lack of Chinese language skills, he even brought us gifts and picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. The residence is also part of the Pingyao world heritage site, we really enjoyed seeing the similarities between fans residence and the buildings presented in the museums around Pingyao (this place has much comfier beds). The traditional Chinese breakfast was also amazing, with veges, steam buns and egg. It’s in a perfect location, out of the noise of the main streets but also an easy stroll to the lively parts of town. I will recommend Fanzhai to anyone that will listen 😁

Very good experience. The owners are friendly and provide pick up at the gate entrance. Pretty courtyard and the owners shared a lot of information on where to eat / shop at. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse to those wanting to visit Pingyao.

Choosing this guesthouse in Pingyao Ancient City was definitely the right decision! The owner was so kind that we felt like friends. He even gave us a map and patiently told us the stories behind the old buildings. What's more, he not only planned a very reasonable itinerary for us, but the whole trip went smoothly.

I have been to Pingyao several times. This time I brought the kids with me. This time I had to stay in an inn on the main street. It was very easy to find. I used to live in a small alley where there were no street lights at night. This inn was too close to the next gate. After parking the car, it only took a few minutes to get there. The owner was also very talkative. He introduced us the itinerary for the ancient city and helped us avoid many pitfalls. The room is well-arranged, very clean and has direct drinking water. There is a travel photography shop above the store, which is also owned by his family. He gave a great discount. I will stay at his house next time. I wish the boss a prosperous business!

This inn is really a dream: it is in a historical building and everything is really traditional. Staff is really kind and helpful, the only flaw is that it is really difficult to contact them in advance. I would have preferred some exchange via trip.com messages or wechat, but I did not receive any answer. Of course there is a phone number, but if you don't speak Chinese it is quite useless. :) Anyway, service when we were on the spot was perfect. We received lots of information about the visit of Pingyao, discounts for massages and restaurants, and they also provided a transfer to the taxi area on our last morning. So overall my review is positive. I really recommend this place!

Very satisfied with this stay! The room is clean and comfortable, the layout is very warm, the facilities are complete and modern, especially the bedding is soft and sleeps very well. The surrounding transportation is convenient, and the nearby food supermarket is all available. The landlord was warm and thoughtful, responded quickly to the message, and solved the problem immediately. The price is super high.

We had such a lovely experience at Zhengjia Inn! It was a little hard to find initially but the location is exceptional, right in the heart of the ancient city of Pingyao. There was no one on reception when we arrived but we managed to call through the Trip.com app and they came out right away to help us check in. The hotel is gorgeous with a very traditional style, a lovely sunny courtyard and big rooms. The best part of our stay here was the hospitality of the family who run this hotel. They were so kind and generous! They annotated a map for us to show us where to go and how to get there, they made us a Western style breakfast in the morning and let us eat in their own home, and they very kindly drove us to the train station when we had to leave the next day. They were very friendly, kind and patient with us as we don't speak Mandarin. The bed was quite hard because it is a very thin mattress on top of wood so it might not suit people with bad backs, but it was fine for us! We would highly recommend this hotel!

The courtyard is very nice, which is the highlight. It is a little far from the main area. If you are tired of walking around, you can't avoid spending money to take a bus back to the hotel. The facilities in the B&B room are a bit old, the bathroom is very small, and the design of the space is a bit difficult to turn around. The bed is not covered with a quilt on the bed sheet. The quilt is folded. I didn't dare to sleep directly, so I spread the bed sheet I brought with me.

The host were nice and friendly. They speak no English but they use and app for basic translations. The room is good value for money. Modern and clean, with good architectural finishes. They don't provide towels, shampoo and so. No air conditioner either, thou I asked for a fan and they gave it to me and it was perfect like that. Location wasn't so easy to find, the access road can be either dusty or muddy depending on the weather. It's about 15 minutes walk to the north gate of ancient Pingyao city wall. I would recommend specially to couples as it's the same price as for solo travellers. (I guess the price is per room) They didn't ask for a deposit as written in their policies, which is a plus.
