NNaixin17Before coming to Pingyao, I browsed over 10 guesthouses on Trip.com and finally chose this one! The main reason was its excellent location, especially since I was traveling with elderly family members. It's right in the heart of Pingyao Ancient City, making it super convenient to visit attractions like the Rishengchang Draft Bank, the Armed Escort Agency, and the County Government Office – everything is close by! 👍👍👍
The rooms aren't huge as it's an old house converted into a guesthouse, but they are very clean. All the necessary facilities are there, and both the rooms and the courtyard are spotless and comfortable. 🫰🫰🫰
The service was fantastic. The owner is very welcoming and attentive, always busy making sure everything is perfect. He gave us great recommendations on which attractions were worth visiting, marking them out on a map for us, which saved us a lot of valuable time planning our itinerary! When we left, he even gave us a bottle of their aged vinegar as a gift! 🫶🫶🫶 (Oh, and they offer pick-up and drop-off services; the young man who drove us was incredibly enthusiastic and energetic! 🤭🤭🤭)
Friends planning a trip to Pingyao should definitely contact this guesthouse owner and give it a try – it's excellent! (Lastly, I have to mention that all the restaurants he recommended were delicious, and if you mentioned his phone number, you even got a 15% discount! 🤩🤩🤩)

GGuest UserI came to Shanxi following the Black Myth route, and this homestay really amazed me! The night view inside Boya Residence is so photogenic that every shot feels like a blockbuster movie! It is one kind of scenery during the day, and it is another kind of scenery when you come back from the busiest main street and enter the courtyard at night. It is really beautiful, absolutely stunning. I took a lot of great photos in the courtyard, and I didn't have to retouch them. The courtyard was really comfortable and quiet. It was really leisurely to have a cup of tea in the courtyard and enjoy this moment of tranquility. Every detail in the room of this store is really pleasing. The beautiful boss will stand from the perspective of the guests to prepare everything in the room. This trip to Pingyao Ancient City is really worth it. When you come to Pingyao, you must stay in the courtyard of the beautiful sister's house, which is also an ancient courtyard with a history of the Qing Dynasty.

GGuest UserWe had an amazing stay in Pingyao. The location is perfect, right inside the old town in a quiet area, yet everything is within walking distance.
The rooms were spacious, very clean, and beautifully designed, easily one of the nicest we had during our trip. What really made the stay special was the service. The receptionist was incredibly friendly and helpful, gave us great restaurant recommendations, vouchers, small gifts, and even drove us to the taxi pick-up point.
The highlight of the hotel is its design. It truly feels like staying in a traditional courtyard house of a wealthy family, which made the whole experience very authentic.
We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Pingyao. It was one of the best stays we had in China and we would give more stars if we could.

RRoshan_hotmailWe had a fantastic stay here, largely thanks to the incredibly helpful and kind host. The hotel is housed in a 300-year-old building, giving you a beautiful, authentic experience of ancient China, but the interior is fully updated and very calm.
Arrival and Service: The host is highly organized. They arranged a free shuttle to pick us up the moment we stepped out of the Pingyao Gucheng railway station, and provided a free drop-off when it was time to leave. Upon arrival, the host sat down with a map, clearly explained how to navigate the walled city, and gave us great advice on what to prioritize.
The Room: It looks ancient from the outside, but it is a spacious, spotlessly clean, modern hotel room on the inside. It features a large flat-screen TV and a smart voice-control system for the lights. The bathroom was immaculate and entirely modern, complete with an excellent shower and a heated toilet seat. I cannot believe they provide a room of this quality for such an affordable price. It is truly worth it.
Location & Breakfast: The hotel is in a very convenient spot inside the Pingyao city walls, just a 10-minute walk to the evening light show. Breakfast is included. Rather than a standard buffet, they serve a nice traditional set meal featuring millet porridge (xiaomi), fried vegetables, and eggs (see my uploaded pictures).
I highly recommend this place if you want top-tier hospitality and a clean, comfortable blend of ancient atmosphere and modern convenience.

GGuest UserI stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in October, with my friends who booked separate rooms. We had a free transfer from and to the train station which was very handy. The room was clean and very modern looking, with a smart kettle platform (you need to tap twice on the kettle icon to activate it and boil water - it wasn't written anywhere). The receptionist gave us tips about shopping and also shared his own tea with us, so lovely! The only thing I would like to improve is a Wifi coverage, somehow inside the room it was always saying 'no data connection' despite showing the strongest signal. And the other Wifi they set up for me worked only outside of the room, so I would need to open the door each time I wanted a signal. But I had mobile internet as well so I survived.
Just a warning: I think it's unprofessional to play video games without headphones when customers approach you, but maybe the staff's paycheque is low and the manners are not deeply rooted. It just looked unusual to me, because in my country you can lose your job if you behave this way.

GGuest UserThe environment is pretty good and quite unique. It's right next to Xidajie, offering a peaceful retreat despite being in a lively area. The best part is that it's perfect for ladies who love taking photos, as it's very close to 'Ancient Style Travel Photography.' After one photoshoot, you can easily go back to the hotel and take more photos yourself in its antique setting. The hotel provides disposable bath towels and face towels, which is great! No need to worry about forgetting to bring your own!

”I had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel. The experience started perfectly with a complimentary pickup service at the train station, where the staff was waiting for me with a welcome sign. The hotel owner is incredibly kind and thoughtful, even lending me a portable translator to help with my communication during the trip.
The room is very modern and equipped with high-tech facilities. The bed is soft and comfortable, and the air conditioning system works perfectly for both heating and cooling. I was particularly impressed by the in-room water dispenser (both hot and cold water) and the massive projector screen which provided great entertainment.
The breakfast was delicious, served in a beautifully presented set. Every detail was taken care of with heart. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and hospitable stay!”

The location is just a few minutes' walk from the most lively South Street in the ancient city.
The environment inside the homestay is unique. The wind of the rich Shanxi merchants' courtyard is blowing in the face. It is very suitable for girls to change clothes and take pictures. The room is also clean and comfortable. The towels and bath towels are all disposable.
The boss is very enthusiastic. He helped me upgrade the room, recommended the tour route and dining spots, and gave me a gift when I left.

AAnonymous UserWe ended our five-day trip to Shanxi and were very satisfied with Shanxi, especially this B&B in Pingyao Ancient City. After booking the room, we contacted the inn and reserved a parking space for us. We got off the expressway and arrived at the parking lot smoothly, and someone came over. They were very considerate in picking up my luggage. The location of the inn is very good, just at the intersection of the pedestrian street. It is not noisy at night and is very convenient for traveling. This is the most recommended one. The inn is a typical Shanxi courtyard house, just like living in a TV series. The courtyard is very comfortable, the rooms are clean and hygienic, and the service is excellent. I recommend everyone to stay here.

GG HofmannAmazing hotel in the middle of Ancient Pingyao. Only stayed 1 night, but managed to see the major sights within the city walls. The owner was very helpful organising a transfer back to the train station after checking out. The only issue is communication before and after departure as the owner doesn't answer queries sent directly to the hotel. We wanted to arrange a transfer before arrival, but haven't received a reply. Additionally after leaving the hotel we realised that we have left my medication in a portable fridge at reception. Tried calling the hotel several times, but they didn't pick up the phone. Otherwise we had great experience.
