"For the same price as hotels near Kyoto Station, this place offers more than double the space. The only downside was having to drag two large suitcases up a slope when checking out, which was a bit tiring. The communal area downstairs boasts amazing sea views, and there are various tea bags and soup packets available, plus a free hot spring. You can choose your daily cleaning time, which is great for sleeping in, and the front desk staff (both younger and older gentlemen) speak excellent English, making communication a breeze."

"It's located on a hill, and you can see the Pacific Ocean from the open-air bath. The Japanese-style rooms are spacious and relaxing. The meal plan I booked included two types of side dishes, fried food, sashimi, a small pork hotpot, rice and miso soup, but the portions were small, so I added a platter of five types of sashimi."
