Stay Mikado ★★★★
"The B&B is right next to the port, and it is very convenient to go out to the sea. It is ten minutes away from the airport. There is a beautiful private beach next to the airport, where you can let the buggy take you there or ride a bike yourself. The hotel has an outdoor restaurant, which is open all day and late, which is quite good. The hotel buffet is also OK. There is a terrace on the third floor with hammocks, lounge chairs and a gym, where you can relax. The room is very large, it is a two-bedroom and one-living room suite. Each suite has a public living room, balcony and kitchen, which is still very spacious. It is just that room 201 is very close to the mosque, and it will be woken up by the chanting at 4:30 every day. If you mind, you can communicate with the boss in advance to ask for a room with a different orientation. The hotel service is very good. Before leaving the hotel to go to the airport, the staff will help to transport the luggage to the airport for check-in in advance, help to get the boarding pass, and finally, as long as you go to the airport half an hour in advance, you can go directly to the security check and board the plane. It is really Maldives speed, very thoughtful! Overall exceeded expectations!"
Finimas Residence ★★★
"I don’t normally leave reviews but I simply have to for this place. To get there, I took a 75usd speedboat which, provided the sea isn’t too choppy which it wasn’t, was pretty straightforward and efficient. You really do feel like you are in miles away from civilisation when you arrive. Ahmed, Shazin and Roshani did the absolute most to make sure I made the most of my time. Whether that was arranging a private island trip, or a dolphin cruise they were extremely flexible and due to the quiet nature of the island, nothing was too much of an ask. After I asked if it was possible to have a bbq, they set up one on the beach during sunset where we ate the fish we had just caught from our boat trip. The island is very small which means it’s all really walkable, including to the private beach which is gorgeous (only for tourists) and well maintained by the local workers who would find me a coconut to drink each time I visited. I had plenty of days where I was happy to sit and relax at the beach but it’s the range of activities that you can do off the island which makes it great. Most trips around 30-40 usd but can sometimes be cheaper with more people. Some of them like the private island trip exceeded activities that I have done in the rest of SEA. Make no mistake, the beauty of this island is that it’s still so raw and only recently opened to tourism which you can tell, but for someone like me who enjoys this vibe and interacting with locals and getting a real feel for a place, this was great. I like the imperfection as it feels real and everyone on the island feels genuinely grateful to host you. Shazin was happy to show me around the island and take me to anywhere if I needed something eg a new phone SIM card and Roshani (Nepalese background) was amazing in the kitchen cooking a range of western, Nepalese and local dishes which I never got bored of after 2 weeks of eating 3 meals a day. There’s not loadsss of eating options on the island so I’d recommend this as a stress free way to go about it. Plus, she gives you a mountain of food to keep you full. The locals were happy to let me join in their football games at 5pm most days and offered to take me out fishing plenty of times too. My room was simple and everything I needed really, comfortable bed and AC 24 hours/day and frequently cleaned. To say it’s one of the cheapest places in the Maldives it was more than comfortable! I met a few surfers who had come back to Finimas for the second time and raved about the waves during peak season which starts in late February through till about September. As long as you lower your expectations and realise that the money you pay is nowhere near that of a resort level of luxury, I really believe that Ahmed and his team have done well to make Finimas an affordable slice of paradise who want to do all they can to help you have the best time! Would love to revisit one day!!"

The Maverick Surf and Dive Boutique Hotel ★★★★
"What an amazing week our family had in the Maldives at Maverick. The tents were beautiful and had everything we needed including an air con to keep us comfortable. The outdoor bathroom was lovely and the kids loved playing with the hermit crabs out there! Staying on the island inhabited by a small local village allowed us expose the kids to a bit of the culture that would be missed in a big resort. The village tour and basket weaving were big hits with the kids and we enjoyed the local dinner too. The snorkeling is great too. It is a Muslim country so just a note to be respectful and cover up knees and shoulders when out of the hotel area and walking through the village. They also have a bar boat that is easy to get to by short boat ride if you would like to have a drink and you can even have a little fish off the boat while there. They even helped me celebrate my 40th with a lovely celebration on the boat and dinner with guests and cake and decorated the bed while we were surfing it was beautiful. We booked through perfect wave and found that the hotel and perfect wave communicated with each other well around the surfing plan and made sure things were planned with surfing times in mind based on conditions. The packed towels, drinks and snacks for the boat when surfing. By far the best thing was how lovey and accommodating all of the staff were. They went out of their way to take care of us and look after the kids and cater for their fussy eating. Thanks Ina and team a wonderful more unique and quiet experience with some culture and lots of fun."
Hotel Riu Palace Maldivas - All Inclusive ★★★★★
"This is now one of our favorite hotels! The service is top-notch, the island is gorgeous, I'm completely in love and will definitely be back. The only thing is, they advertised a $200 spa pass, but the hotel doesn't offer it. But that didn't put us off))) The experience itself was wonderful :)"
Angsana Velavaru - Free return seaplane for 2 on stays 7+ nights till 20 Dec 2026 ★★★★★
"Really love the place with snorkeling availability. There’s lots of activities available at the resort. However, would need to manage the times by yourself since there’s no butlers for the guests."
