"The Premier Inn Thurso is modern and clean. Staff were friendly and said hello when they saw us. We appreciated to plug sockets and USB ports beside the bed. We loved the purple lighting in the room, it gave the room a nice cosy vibe. The hotel was quiet and there was no noise from the road or the train station and was in walking distance of the town centre."

"Tucked right along the road between Mey Castle and Thurso, Celtic Lodge is a charming little inn made up of three newly built cabanas. Each one features a cosy living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom, and two bedrooms — one with a full-size bed, the other with a twin. The cabins are spotless and beautifully maintained: not a speck of dust, no damp, no chipped paint — everything feels fresh, modern, and just right. A thoughtful touch: the owner had left a bottle of milk in the fridge, ready for our arrival. We slept in late and enjoyed a quiet breakfast (we brought our own supplies), watching a deer wander just outside the kitchen window."

Self-contained upstairs kitchen and dining area, ideal for preparing our own meals. Very economical booking - and basic (but more than sufficient) breakfast also provided including tea/coffee; bread; milks & alternatives - oat, soya; cereals; yogurt. Owners very hospitable and full of great stories from their personal travels. Well located - no more than 5 mins drive down to Thurso Beach. And 10 mins drive down to Scrabster, for the ferry crossing to Orkney. For budget travellers, dormitory accommodation is also available."
