"The downstairs, public areas are great but the bedrooms are really not up to the Mercure standard and certainly not worthy of a 4* hotel. The bar and restaurant area is really beautiful with a lovely, shady terrace and plenty of cosy chairs and sofas to relax in. Breakfast was superb, lots of choice and the restaurant and bar staff were fantastic. However, I can't recommend an overnight stay here. We stayed in a "superior" room but there was nothing superior about it - it was very dark and cramped, with horrible purple walls and white plastic furniture, it seemed more like a budget motel than a 4 * hotel. It is advertised as having air conditioning but this is misleading as it just has an old fashioned ventilation system that didnt work effectively in the hot weather. The room was dusty and the carpet was quite grubby. The car park next door "Le Clemenceau" is a very cramped multi-storey, quite difficult to manoeuvre around even in a small car. The car park is closed in the evenings and at weekends so if you need to access your car at these times you have to swipe your ticket outside to enter and then pay before returning to your car in an enclosed car park with no staff or surveillance and swiping your ticket again so that the main gates will open. and let you out. I found it quite an unnerving experience and definitely would not recommend parking there if you are on your own."

"After the stifling heat in London, the heat here is somehow different. We arrived in Nantes on an on-time flight and are staying here en route to the Ile d’Oleron. We waited on the tarmac for a while slowly baking before we boarded the cool aircraft. It’s a modern hotel built in typical French eccentric style (there are old Citroen vehicles inside the hotel), but it works well and the air conditioning is excellent. The restaurant is popular and the quality is good, and the staff friendly. Just what we needed."

Car parking could be a nightmare as the many parking areas were invariably close to full, took a while driving around to find a place We could not eat at the bar as there were no lactose free meals Walking up to the entrance the ground and pavements were covered in fallen leaves which, in a venue like this, should have been zapped Bedroom was excellent but no USB sockets which again are expected in this standard of hotel"
