"You guys at Trip should already know that I requested an extra bed for my 11-year-old son on May 3rd. A month later, upon arriving at Hotel Mexico, the director rudely informed us that they don't have extra beds and that their apartments are for that purpose. She said there were no triple rooms available and that you (Trip) never sent them the special requests, even though I received an email from you confirming that you had. Both Trip and Hotel Mexico have ruined my vacation. I'm still waiting for a supervisor from your company to call me, as the customer service operator told me someone would call back in 15 minutes, acknowledging that it was urgent and I was already at the accommodation. Both your company and the management of that hotel are absolutely awful. By the way, some people won't be able to sleep peacefully in many of the rooms where the terrace is barely 2 meters above the sidewalk of a public street."

"We have been here a number of times. Why not? Great pool, friendly staff and big choice of food at breakfast and dinner (we did not take the lunch). There are also lots of activities animated by the staff. We also liked the ability to take long walks on the beach in the buff. I strongly recommend Vera Playa!"

"The positives: Lovely staff. Spacious room with a small terrace and a partial mountain view. King-size bed, comfortable linens. Excellent breakfast with a vegetarian option. Bright dining room. Andalusian-style building, attractive exterior architecture. The negatives: The hotel is extremely poorly soundproofed; you can hear your upstairs neighbor blowing their nose, the one next door sneezing, and the one across the hall using their toilet all night long. The door closing mechanism urgently needs replacing. It's impossible to close the door without slamming it loudly when you leave, resulting in being woken up from 5 a.m. onwards by the deafening sounds of slamming doors. Don't forget to indicate that you don't want to be disturbed, otherwise (as in my case) the chambermaid bursts in without knocking, and if you ask her to leave, another one returns five minutes later like a tornado. The bathroom is outdated with unrepaired holes in the walls and lighting reminiscent of a gas chamber. Baseboards torn off in the hallways and common areas. Don't hesitate to visit several rooms: the first one I was shown smelled bad, the second hadn't been properly cleaned (socks lying around), the third was okay. Take a room at the back; the ones at the front face a highway with lots of trucks. No bathrobes or slippers. The hotel is decorated exclusively in shades of gray, black, and beige... a few more cheerful colors wouldn't hurt."

"I booked my holiday with Jet2 and was delivered safely to the hotel on Thursday 5 September late in the evening. The check in process was completed quickly and efficiently and I was given clear concise directions to my room - 417. There was a bit of noise in the hotel lobby from the theatre bar in the hotel but this did not make its way to my room. The following and subsequent mornings breakfast was a good quality buffet with lots of choice and cooking stations. The food was a good standard and everything was spotlessly clean. Having devoured breakfast I then wandered along the street to Consum supermarket to stock up on water and some beer. There is a fridge in the room which held four bottles of water and four cans of beer. For those interested the naturist area of town starts just beyond Consum and runs all the way to hotel street. Back at the hotel the room was great - two large beds, a bathroom with shower, a bath, washbasin, bidet and of course a toilet. These were kept spotless by the hotel cleaner on a daily basis as well as the bed being relaid each day. The room opened out onto a balcony with two seats and a drying rack overlooking the hotel grounds. The hotel grounds are really well maintained. Everything was cleaned daily and there more than enough sun loungers for everyone as well as parasols if you needed them. There is a gate just beyond the pool which you operate with your key card to gain access to the promenade. Turn left and you are heading towards the naturist end of the beach, turn right and you could walk to Garrucha which was a very pleasant walk. The naturist area of Vera Playa was great. Having been to another well known naturist town in France, this was very different - there is no sleaze here, everyone is here to get that all over tan. It was not uncommon to see naturists on the beach near the hotel as they walked along - this is perfectly legal in Spain. My advice - get naked, enjoy, and before long you forget all about it. Back to the hotel for dinner - I was on a half board basis - I have no idea what previous reviewers have been complaining of as the food at night was hot, it was of a great quality and the seafood salads were a particular favourite. If you do not bring water to the table you will be badgered to buy drinks. Personally, I just took my water with me each night. The dinners varied night by night and the dessert choice was excellent. I could not fault the food. This is a hotel aimed at everyone to enjoy and being easy to reach from the likes of Madrid there are a lot of Spaniards which is great as they help make a great atmosphere. Yes it would be nice to have an English speaking TV channel or two but I was on holiday and got everything I needed using the excellent free WiFi. Had a great time, thank you to all of the staff."

"I went with my miss and we had a wonderful time. A beautiful hotel, kind of bohemic, its nice to walk around looking at paintings and the different arty assets around it. There is a nice walk by their amazing and super clean pool surrounded by a tropical garden. The coffee is also one of the top things in this place, I wonder if it comes from Mexico, its probably best expresso we have had ever tryed. We got a high end bedroom and all the extras were excellent. The staff working there offers top customer service, they are mostly locals, speak good english and are helpfull with any activity that you wish to do. The rest of amenities such: restaurant, common areas, gardens, etc are cool! Beach is 5 minute walk, there are few shops and restaurants very close. Have a great time foxes!"

Aviso a familias!!! "

"Dirty and smelly. The best Ginés, the entertainer, the best thing about the hotel, lots of laughs in the aquagym. Bathrooms with smells and hallways without lights when walking. Old facilities. It is not on the beachfront."

Playavera ★★★★
"This family hotel has so much to offer – an idyllic pool area surrounded by palms, with slides, waterfalls and including a sloping beach access. We enjoyed many lunches at the reasonably-priced pool-side bar if we couldn’t bear to leave this paradise.  The hotel is situated right on the beach allowing us to have a wander, and a quick dip in the sea, or a coffee at the beach bar, in between the aqua gym and the pool dance.   All the hotel staff were polite and helpful, whether on reception, part of the housekeeping team or the entertainment team.   The ‘animacion’ (entertainment) team, in particular, went ‘above and beyond’, making our stay the most amazing experience! They worked tirelessly from early morning to late evening, but still managed to bring a sense of fun to everything they did, and we laughed so much.  They were highly talented, guiding us through our daily workout, teaching us dances, and putting on the most wonderful shows in the evenings. We so enjoyed their activities that we planned every day around aqua gym and the pool dance, never missing once.   Everyone was catered for by the entertainment team, from the youngest to the oldest, and it was lovely that so many families make it their destination for their annual break, making it a very inclusive environment, where everyone feels comfortable.   Every member of the entertainment team went out of their way to get to know us and to make us feel welcome. They really are a credit to the hotel.   We had such an amazing holiday and came home feeling so healthy and energised that we can’t wait to get back again this summer for our fourth stay at the hotel."

"We are currently staying here and this is our second visit. Having seen some of the negative reviews I felt I needed to add a review. Firstly to the person who gave a one star because nuggets were only served once a week and his child had nothing to eat. This is your fault as a parent not the hotel. The food at these hotels is self service and has to cater for many nationalities and this is a Spanish hotel not McDonalds in the sun. We actually found the standard of food excellent, there might be things you don’t like but that’s normal. The hotel is not brand new but the rooms are massive, the hotel is spotless and every where you look the staff are busy working and are often ignored by the guests. This place has character and if as a guest you have a preconceived idea then it is not the hotels fault. For the second time it is fantastic. The staff are great but English is not their first language, whoopee we’re in Spain. I’m sure if Spaniards went to the Uk there maybe a language barrier!! For us a beautiful clean hotel on the beach with wonderful well kept grounds, good food and great staff, what could you ask for more??"

"I WOULD TAKE AWAY 3 STARS, IT LOOKS LIKE A BOARDING HOUSE, NOT EVEN DOG FOOD, DISGUSTING DISH CLEANING, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT YOUR PLATES AND GLASSES BECAUSE THEY ARE DIRTY, ON TOP OF THAT THE RESTAURANT CATERING DOES NOT BELONG TO THE HOTEL, THE MANAGER OF THE CUTRADA IS IN A WAY, I SUGGEST THAT YOU COME WITH YOUR FAMILY AND COUSINS FOR LUNCH AND DINNER. MAYBE HE LIKES IT, BECAUSE IF THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE OFFERING FOR THE AMOUNTS YOU ARE ASKING FOR, APART FROM BEING A TRICKSTER, YOU ARE A CHEAP GUY. YOU COULD RENOVATE THE APARTMENTS AS THEY ARE FROM THE 19TH CENTURY. THE ONLY THING I ASK YOU IS THAT YOU DON’T GAMBLE, I WILL NEVER COME BACK. IT’S PITY THAT YOU PUT ALL THE ENTIRE YEAR INTO YOUR JOB WHILE WORKING AND YOU GO ON VACATION AND HAVE THIS... TO THE HOTEL MANAGER. P.S. GO DO SOMETHING ELSE, BECAUSE IF THIS IS HOW YOU RUN THIS,... AND OFFER THIS, IT’S BETTER THAT YOU WERE DOING SOMETHING ELSE, CHEATY. If you are an EU resident and would like to appeal our decision, please click here. You can review your appeal options here."

"Terrible free buffet. Queues of more than half an hour to get in to eat, more than 15 minutes to be served and then there was no food. There were also no plates and those that were there are wet and with food remains. The coffee machines didn't have milk,… in short it seems that nothing worked. There were many of us, they said. The capacity was apparently met but the kitchen and the service could not cope. Eat we didn't eat but they charged us if they charged us. We went for the Níjar Cup and although we had full board we ate out on the second day to avoid disaster again."
