"I had an amazing time. The family and their friends were extremely caring and attentive, and spent much of the time showing me around the nearby monastery, teaching me how to make incense, how traditional ******* painting worked etc. The food was also excellent and plentiful, and the rooms decorated in a beautiful traditional style. An all-round fantastic experience. I am certainly hoping to come back again."

"The facilities are new and clean, the boss is hospitable, the scenery is pleasant, suitable for relaxation and stargazing. But because there is no air conditioning, it will be a bit cold in early June, and it should be more comfortable in July and August. I will come again if I have the chance."

"We had originally booked the Mingzhu International Hotel across the street, but our driver said it was newer. After checking in, we regretted it immensely. We finished our activities at Labrang Monastery around 4 PM and checked into the hotel. We booked a relatively large deluxe room, but a wave of heat hit us as soon as we entered. I was on the phone at the time, and while looking for the air conditioner, I couldn't find it, and neither could my friend. After hanging up, we asked the front desk, and they said there was no air conditioning, we didn't need it, and there were no fans either. We then looked at similar rooms, and they were just as hot. Because this room faced west-northwest, it was the perfect spot for the hottest part of the day. We couldn't open the curtains, and we were soaked in sweat. The room across the street was a bit cooler, but the street view made it unsuitable for me to sleep on, requiring sleeping pills. The window could only be opened as shown in the picture, and with the screen open, we came back from dinner to find it full of small insects. On the way, we went to the Mingzhu Hotel across the street, which was actually better and cheaper, with spacious rooms, and the east-facing rooms weren't facing the street. The room was still stuffy at 9-10 PM, with no way for the heat to escape. So we slept with the window open. The excellent design was evident; picture 7 shows the electric curtains. When you close the curtains and press sleep mode, the lights turn off. We opened the electric curtains, and all the lights near the window were on; there was nowhere to switch them on. As an insomniac, I had to sleep with the window open and the lights on (using a pillow to block out the light) and three sleeping pills. The blanket was thick, but I couldn't use it. Breakfast ended at 9:30 am, but when we went at 8:40 am, most of the rooms were empty, and there was nothing left. They fried two eggs at our request. Of course, I don't know when I'll come back to this kind of hotel again. I also don't know how the hotel copes with the heat in the summer when most rooms don't have air conditioning, especially the second most expensive room type (the most expensive suite). I won't come back, so I'll never know."

Xiahe Marmot Resort & Hotel

Xiahe Marmot Resort & Hotel

"The hotel is in a great location, across from a prairie with plenty of attractions. Since I checked in late, I missed out on the bonfire and other extras. The room was quite new, though the cleanliness was a bit poor. The kettle was covered in ash, so I didn't dare use it. Breakfast was pretty standard: cabbage, shredded potatoes, and shredded carrots."

"Very good homestay, in a small alley, but it does not affect the luggage at all. Before you arrive, you will call the hotel and there will be someone to pick up the luggage. The room is also very refreshing and clean, walk into about 100 meters The homestay is very intimate, the small hot pot in the homestay tastes great, and the children like it very much. The waiters at the homestay are very dedicated and patient to answer questions for us. I will definitely stay here next time I come back. It is highly recommended."

"An absolutely wonderful glamping experience! Currently, it's not too crowded. The hotel manager upgraded our room and guided us to the location beforehand, also reserving dinner for us. We heard a family member had a headache, and they thoughtfully brought an oxygen tank. The room was clean and tidy, definitely top-notch among guesthouses and glamping sites in Gannan. In the mornings, sheep graze around the hotel grounds, which feels incredibly natural. Guests arriving by car can enjoy free entry to Bajiao Ancient City and Baishiya Scenic Area. From the hotel, you can even see the spectacular Baishiya in Gan Jia Mi Jing. Each room also receives spring water from Mount Amigonghong. This place is truly a beautiful, sacred, and secluded wonderland!"

"We had an incredible time here in late April. Our cabin was extremely cozy and had great picture window views of the stream and mountains . The bathroom is very clean and well designed. The heating worked well so we were never cold. The service had been exceptional. Everyone has been so helpful and they even welcomed us with tea and ******* scarves when we arrive. We extended our stay here because it’s so nice and peaceful. We will be back for sure!"

Shangu Homestay (Yagetang Branch) ★★★
"We absolutely loved our stay at 山古民宿 Shangu Homestay. The room was spacious, well presented in ******* style, and kept wonderfully warm with underfloor heating. The window-side lounge area was so cozy that we didn’t want to leave after three nights. Dinner was a highlight—the ******* hotpot was delicious, with fresh yak meat, vegetables, and noodles. Breakfast included fruit, ******* butter tea, and tsampa, giving us a real taste of local traditions. The host was incredibly welcoming and shared fascinating stories about ******* culture, nomadic life, and even how to make incense. During our stay, it snowed heavily, and our children had a fantastic time playing in the snow with the host. It was not just accommodation, but a cultural journey filled with warmth and unforgettable memories. Highly recommended!

Xiahe Hailuo Xuanpu Hotel ★★★
"Facilities: Newly renovated hotel, all hardware facilities are new, but the cabinets still have a smell. The self-service laundry was only set up 3 days ago. Cleanliness: Clean Environment: The hotel's decor is consistent in style and it's very close to Labrang Monastery. Service: The parking attendant was very friendly. Breakfast selection was extremely limited. The cooking station only had wontons; even the most basic items like noodles and fried eggs were unavailable. It was completely out of sync with the hotel's hardware and decor. The price was relatively high for the area, but the overall experience was very poor."

"The location is great, right by the roadside, surrounded by grasslands perfect for taking photos and swinging. The hotel facilities are relatively new and clean, but the door gaps are a bit large, making it easy to hear people walking in the corridor; the soundproofing isn't very good. The water temperature fluctuates, sometimes hot and sometimes cold. The price is a bit high, but otherwise, it's fine."

"Staying at this hotel halfway through the journey is too worry-free, and it is especially convenient to have a housekeeper carrying luggage up and down the stairs. The room is clean and dry, the store service is intimate and reliable, the environment is quiet and comfortable, the scenery along the road is also very good, the price is online, and I will choose here next time I travel!"

"Gannan in May is still worth visiting. Even if it is May, there are not many people, and the whole grassland is occupied. The environment of the homestay is very good. It is very cold outside but warm inside. When you get up in the morning, you can see calves, sheep and ponies around, which makes you feel happy. If you are not in a hurry, you can stay longer and ride horses. The staff are very considerate and friendly. Knowing that we have altitude sickness, they found oxygen cylinders for us. Thank you very much. And the food is delicious!!! Highly recommended, I ate until I was full"

"Top-notch luxury in the wilderness! The view facing Baishi Cliff is absolutely stunning! You can enjoy the golden glow on the mountains and the sunrise right from your room. The hotel staff were all very helpful, and the roasted lamb chops were delicious! On the way back after dinner, we unexpectedly encountered a snow flurry. Watching the falling snow and the migrating sheep from the comfort of our room's living area created an incredible atmosphere! Highly recommended!"
