📍 Kiryat, Kiryat Anavim

"My wife and I came for an overnight stay to celebrate a special anniversary. We were not disappointed. The spa massage which we had scheduled for our arrival was pleasant and we were treated by competent and caring masseuses. The room and the other facilities in the hotel were as one might anticipate at this type of hotel. Both dinner and breakfast were outstanding, probably the best buffet type hotel dinning I have experienced, hands down the best in Israel. I have not hesitation in recommending the Cramim Hotel and Spa. Having said all this, I would not award the hotel five stars for reasons which are easily remedied or issues which should never be found: 1) Cleanliness is an issue, dust can be found in common areas and in the (our) rooms without looking for it. 2) We visited (by chance) on one of the coldest days of the year. The common areas, in particular in the spa, were not warm. One guest said to us in conversation, "I don't get it, this place is a spa, it should be warm and comfortable, it's freezing, that's why I'm wearing this sweatshirt and not one of the (terrycloth) robes provided". The corridor on our floor was absolutely cold, there was no discernible heat, it really was a case of bringing the outdoors, inside. 3) The hotel staff were overall excellent in their own areas, however there was very little expression of esprit de corps which is de rigueur for five star establishments. 4) The appearance of some of the staff was not slovenly, but certainly under par. I can appreciate that the hotel is not of the cord and braided uniform variety, but management needs to pay more attention to the overall feeling they want to impart to guests. 5) The level of English among the staff does not befit a five star establishment, (it was not a problem for me as I am fluent in Hebrew). This is easily improved by providing some lessons which are geared to providing services to guests. 6) A final note. Prior to our visit I wrote to Isrotel's customer service e-mail, mentioning that we were coming to celebrate a special wedding anniversary, and some acknowledgment of this detail would make our stay more pleasurable. They responded that they would forward this to the hotel and that this would be attended to, conditions permitting. The hotel had a fair number of guests, but nothing that should have overtaxed the staff. Again, this is a minor detail, and I do not mention it to register a complaint, rather it is another indication that the General Manager is not affixing his eye sharply enough on the ball. So, four stars instead of five."

Almond Hotel ★★★★

📍 1 Ha-Shayara St, Newe Ilan

"We spent two days/two nights at the Almond Hotel, a compact boutique hotel about 15 minutes from Jerusalem. No kids and no meat. The room was spacious, the dairy meals were plentiful and tasty, the pool was lovely (shallow but heated), and the all-day lounge was a great plus. The staff - particularly in the dining room - were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We didn't have a private pool or jacuzzi, but that was fine with us. We didn't try the spa, either. We aimed for R & R, and that's exactly what we got. We loved it."

"Receptionist wasn't helpful at check in. She didn't tell us where our room was and wasn't friendly at all. You're given two espresso pods on arrival as a complimentary gesture. After 4 days I asked if I could get one more. I was told that I would have to purchase it. You pay over $240 a night for a small room and you are expected to purchase a 50 cent coffee pod!!!! Competition is a great thing."

Dar Sitti Aziza ★★★★

📍 P634+9J3, Anatra Street, Bethlehem

"I have just return from an amazing trip to Bethlehem and again stayed with Nabil at Dar Sitti Aziza, the best place to stay in Bethlehem. Nabil shares the history of this amazing guesthouse and every room tells a story. The breakfast is amazing, fresh bread and local falafel service with salads and an assortment of spices, his special eggs (family secret) are amazing and he makes the most delicious homemade jams, a lot of the fruits he grows himself. I cannot recommend this place enough."

Ye'Arim Hotel ★★★
"This hotel claims that they have a spa, with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, saunas etc. That's not accurate. The spa is independent of the hotel. While you can access the spa, the spa's employees look at hotel guests unkindly, as most of the spa's clients are people from the local villages nearby, who are loudly shouting in the hallway and showers. Whenever you need something in the spa, like shower gel, which they appear to not have in the showers there, they ask you "are you a hotel guest?" and when you say "yes" they laugh. There are simple lockers for your belongings but according to the spa manager, hotel guests can't borrow a lock, so you're supposed to bring one from home. The showers are in a rundown state; they look like the kind of showers you'd find in a youth hostel. Because the spa is operated by an external company, the guests are responsible to bring back used towels from the spa to the hotel. Also, in the evenings, the hotel guests need to vacate the spa at an earlier hour than the spa clients. The hotel claims that it has 24/7 reception, but the receptionists who work in the evening apparently weren't trained on everything. I wanted to pay when I checked in but they told me they don't know how to work the credit card charging, so I should come back in the morning. They also sometimes don't answer the reception phone number if you call from your room. In my room, the control panel for the AC was dangling off the wall and I had to fiddle with it until it turned on. It worked, but it's weak. I visited in January, and while the AC was able to slightly warm the room, the room was still chilly in the evening. I booked a deluxe double room and there was no padded chair in the room, even though there was plenty of space to put one. It's the first time I see a hotel where there isn't a padded chair in a deluxe double room."

"Paid a fortune. Not worth it. Pictures on site misrepresent reality. Promised view of mountains. Gave us a view of a tennis court. Offered for us to go home if we don’t like it or entrance to a business lounge. Paid £1000 for two nights. So far I’m sorry we came."

"Rooms were fine, although for a new hotel there was a lot of damage. The furniture was aesthetically ok but very poor quality (handles off draws for example, damp on the ceiling). The reception staff and management were awful to deal with. They were particularly unhelpful and unsympathetic when issues arose. We had serious issues with housekeeping. On two days they never came at all, they knocked when the do not disturb sign was on and they came one morning at 8.02 and woke my young children. They are very lucky there is no other alternative hotel in Modi’in."
