We are are frequent guests of this fabulous hotel & are always made to feel very special by all the amazing staff who never fail to provide a friendly first class service & food. Set in lovely parkland & scenic gardens a short distance from the city walls of York!

Absolutely beautiful hotel and extensive gardens with flowers and amazing trees. We love the antiques, lovely fabrics on comfy sofas and delightful flowers arrangements. We had a huge comfortable bed in a room overlooking the long lawn with ha ha. We had a delicious afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast. We have visited before and the cooking is always of a high standard. The staff are friendly, approachable and professional.

We stayed for two nights in a very clean and comfortable junior suite in the courtyard. The hotel has beautiful gardens which are a joy to explore and a sunny terrace for pre-dinner drinks. We very much enjoyed the imaginative fine-dining menu. All the staff were professional, friendly and informative.

Another excellent stay at our “home from home”. Thanks to all the staff for looking after us so well. I would highly recommend the hotel for those with elderly/frail relatives as the facilities are well suited to their needs. The location in beautiful gardens just outside York is perfect

Such a wonderful hotel. Superb service, comfort and the food is delicious. Luxury house and gardens in a delightful setting. The staff are so attentive and courteous that a stay here is a total pleasure and a delight. Breakfast was so fresh and delicous

Das Middlethorpe Hotel ist ein Hotel abseits der üblichen Standardware. Man betritt ein englisches Landhaus, in dem die Traditionen gepflegt werden. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und vermittelt ein traditionelles britisches Flair. Der Service ist sehr freundlich, unsichtbar aber immer zur Stelle. Unser Zimmer war stilgerecht eingerichtet. Bei manchen Teppichen hatte ich das Gefühl, die kenne ich von zu Hause. Das Zimmer war sehr groß, dabei hatten wir glaube ich gar keine besondere Zimmerkategorie gebucht. Wer dem Trubel von York entfliehen will, der ist hier richtig. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist klein, allerdings werden aller warme Speisen frisch zubereitet. Serviert wird dann auf Porzellan und Silberbesteck, das hat schon was. Ein weiterer Vorteil des Hotels sind die kostenfreien Parkplätze, die in ausreichender Zahl zur Verfügung stehen. Eine Fahrt mit dem Taxi ins Zentrum von York kostet £ 9,00, das ist allemal günstiger, als ein Parkplatz in der Stadt. Wer das Besondere in York sucht, der ist an dieser Adresse goldrichtig.

Absolutely perfect setting and tasteful in every way. Beautifully restored interior with magnificent gardens and views. Staff are always there to help and make sure you have a great stay. Can only hope to return in the near future! Wonderful dining options and a very series relaxed common areas to explore and enjoy.

Dated decor further let down by unresponsive kitchen. A large group booking was kept waiting and then after requesting a variation for a sweet for one guest, despite being a group of 10 on an overnight, was told the chef cant cook?!. Customer service?
