Athina Apartments

Booked the day before we travelled. Took the last room which was amazing. Corner room which had a balcony overlooking the pool, hills & a (distant) sea view. Well soundproofed. Large room, Aircon, lovely shower, and self catering facilities. From arrival we were made to feel very welcome. Towels & toiletries in the room, with pool towels available on request. Lovely little pool with shared inflatables. Nice pool bar with good snack menu. Very well located for the ***** & beach. First time, but will return

We stayed for 2 weeks in a one bedroom apartment with street views from the balcony. The apartment was spacious and reasonably well stocked with cutlery and crockery. There was a full size fridge, a toaster and kettle and a 2 ring electric hob. No need to cook in my opinion as there were numerous lovely restaurants within a few minutes walk. The apartment was cleaned every day apart from Sunday and sheets and towels changed every 2 or 3 days. There was a safe which was free to use- unusual these days. Air conditioning was an optional extra which we didn’t use. Some of the furniture was a little dated but that didn’t detract from our stay. Some people have complained about the noise from local bars. We found that if the patio doors were closed at night, we couldn’t really hear anything from outside. The apartment block is right on the main road running through Kalamaki. It really central to all amenities. There is a supermarket just downstairs where you can get anything you need. The beach is about a 10 minute stroll from the apartments. It’s a lovely walk down paths between green fields. The beach is beautiful. Clean and well looked after. The pool area was lovely. Plenty of sun-beds. Nice relaxing music and the pool bar served drinks and snacks. We enjoyed our stay and will be returning next year!

We have stayed in Kalamaki previously, Bitzaro Palace once, & Venus twice. It's been 14-16 years since last in this resort. We decided to give Athina apartments a try, as we knew were it was located close to the ***** as such. I booked direct and Ellie kept us well informed. On arrival we were met by the owner Athina (Ellie) being her daughter. A family run business. Plenty of sunbeds available, a small bar/snack area. Rooms are basic, were knew that before hand, and certainly we were not disappointed. The safe was free whether that was because we booked direct I have no idea. Room would need a curtain to block out the light & heat n the summer months. We certainly would recommend these apartments, and certainly would return here.

We didn't enjoy our stay there. Our room was very dated. It smelled of drains and it lingered on our clothes. The kitchen needs upgrading. An old fridge door had been used as a base unit cupboard door (it didn't close) where utensils were stored with pipes coming in at the back. The bathroom door needs attention. Beds were comfy and clean. The pool area was not cleaned down at the end of the day, consequently was dirty and sticky. One guest actually mopped around his sunbeds himself. It's a shame really as it could be made lovely and it's in a good location.

We received a warm welcome from the owner, Athina, who gave us really useful information about the island and local amenities. The room itself was perfect for us. 1 large bedroom with twin beds, plus 2 more single beds (Real beds, NOT camp/sofa beds) in the main living space. There was a small kitchenette but we only used the fridge/freezer and kettle which were in good working order. The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. It was typically simple and basic but we had good quality bed sheets that were fresh. Towels were thick, clean and changed frequently. The room had a safe and there was no extra charge for this which is rare but a welcomed extra. The air conditioning was charged daily, however it was very effective and necessary given the temperatures were around 40 degrees each day! Athina and Ellie were the most helpful, friendly people you could hope to have as hosts and they always made time to help you even though they were very busy. The location of the apartments was excellent. Right in the middle of the shops, bars and restaurants but surprisingly quiet. We were never disturbed at night or early in the morning. Dennis and George work really hard in the pool snack bar, and again, make you feel like you are genuinely welcome. There were plenty of sunbeds and the pool area was well maintained and clean. We have already booked to back next year which is something we never do and this shows how happy we were here. Thankyou for a great holiday and see you again soon The Atkinsons

Our 2nd stay at the Athina Apartments and didn’t disappoint will definitely return. Ellie, Athina, Dennis and George are very welcoming, they work very hard and nothing is ever a problem, you are all fantastic thank you. Location is perfect I have mobility issues but you don’t have to walk too far to find what you want. We stayed in a top floor apartment basic, comfortable and very clean, the cleaners work hard and do a great job. Air con a little pricey but worth every penny. Loved the view from balcony overlooking the main ***** (noise never a problem). Pool area great, food and drink delicious. If u have kids Carretta Beach hotel water park worth a visit 15euro per adult and 10euro for children great day out and only 10mins down the road. Zante train enjoyable went to Zante town. Beach is beautiful about 10-15min walk. Favourite restaurants are Ambrosia, Zorbas and Ellie’s great service and food. Also speakeasy bar lovely family and great cocktails. Can’t wait to return in the future.
