Go fishing on the river with an old boatman. The boat wasn't big, but it was stable. The boatman taught you how to cast the net, and he wouldn't laugh at you if you didn't catch anything. When you caught half a basket of small fish and shrimp, the boatman set up a small pot on the boat and boiled them in water. They were so fresh that you even drank the soup clean. Floating on the water with the wind blowing, you didn't have to think about anything. It was so much more interesting than buying fish at the market. This experience was so fresh and comfortable.

Use a Thai passport to buy a ticket for the same price as Indians. The entrance is quite far. If you are traveling with an elderly person, I recommend paying a little more and taking a 3-wheeled vehicle in.

Delhi Metro Safety and Security Measures

Safety and security is a massive concern across public transport systems. However, Delhi Metro has proactively taken several measures to control security situations. It is based on a robust, multi-layered security architecture that has been built and evolved across nearly two decades. The security of the Delhi Metro security is primarily rested with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). It maintains multi-tiered security measures, frisking of commuters and baggage inspection, across more than 270 stations serving millions of passengers daily.
Women's safety has been a major focus when it comes to public transportation systems. Accordingly, the framework particularly focuses on women’s safety. Every train has an exclusive coach for female commuters. Men who attempt to travel in it are subject to penalty. one coach exclusively for female commuters, with men who attempt to travel in it subject to penalty. Additionally, other cars have extra earmarked seats as well. Each coach, station and platform is under CCTV surveillance. Women CISF staff are deployed to frisk female passengers, with security arrangements tightened even more after sunset.
In addition to routine checks, the CISF has run dedicated operations to enforce these protections. Thousands of passengers have been de-boarded from women's coaches for violating the policy. On the other hand, separate operations have targeted pickpockets operating within the system.
Select women personnel have also been trained in martial arts and deployed, both in uniform and plainclothes. They work toward identifying and removing male passengers misusing reserved coaches.
However, this focus on gender-specific security continues to evolve. The integration of 22 women commandos in 2026 into the Quick Reaction Team is an example. These women have been deployed across stations with high female ridership. They have received specialised tactical and weapons training.
Furthermore, CCTV monitoring has helped detect hundreds of cases of people on the tracks and passengers in visible distress, enabling timely intervention. Together, these measures signify a security system that prevents incidents and also ensures rapid responses as they occur.
Delhi Metro Quick Tips

Here are some handy tips to help you travel smoothly and comfortably in the Delhi Metro.
- Use a Smart Card or QR Ticket: Save time otherwise spent purchasing a ticket at the physical counter and move in and out faster. If you are a frequent traveller, you can consider using a rechargeable Smart Card.
- Avoid Peak Hours: Delhi Metro has a daily ridership in millions. Therefore, the trains may get crowded during rush hours. So, if possible, travel before 8 AM, between 11 AM and 5 PM, or after 8 PM.
- Plan Your Route in Advance: Use the official DMRC app or Google Maps to check routes, interchanges, fares, and estimated travel time before you leave to avoid confusions and last-minute hassles.
- Keep Minimal Luggage: Each station has mandatory security screening. So, carry as fewer bags as possible to pass through quickly.
- Check Travel Alerts: Delhi Metro is growing. Therefore, you must also stay mindful about service advisories or temporary station closures due to maintenance, security or public events to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
Delhi Metro Future Expansion

The country’s capital is growing. And so is its metro network. From a single line in the beginning to becoming one of the world’s largest urban transit systems, Delhi Metro’s growth is nothing short of inspiring. The network has evolved steadily, unfolding itself in distinct phases.
The journey started from Phase 1 that commenced in December, 2002 with the inauguration of the Shahdara – Tis Hazari stretch, an 8.3-kilometre line that set the tone for future expansion. The Red and Yellow lines formed the backbone of the initial network. The phase that spanned nearly 65 kilometres started in 1998 and was completed in 2004.
The next phase, Phase II, helped expand the network significantly. It involved adding the Green and Violet Line among other extensions, making the system a whopping 123 kilometres long. As a result, the metro system became one of the largest in the world. The phase also introduced platform screen doors, improved signalling and the high-speed Airport Express Line. It was completed in 2011.
Phase III with a length of nearly 163 kilometres, got mostly completed in 2021. It added circular and semi-circular routes that helped connect various points and vicinities of the city.
And that’s not it. Delhi Metro continues to grow. It is entering its most ambitious stage yet. It includes Phases 4 and 5A and 5B. These are planned to add 200+ kilometres across multiple corridors, 100+ stations throughout Delhi and NCR. Currently, the network operates 416 kilometres across 12 lines with 303 stations. Many Phase 4 corridors are being actively constructed with several segments anticipated to open in stages in 2026.

The room was quite small. I've always stayed at the Imperial Hotel before, and this place clearly falls a notch below in terms of facilities and service. Plus, there's always a scammer by the entrance, pretending to read a newspaper. Every time we step out to catch a taxi, he tries to pull various tricks on us, even driving away our cab and insisting we go to a specific shopping spot. The hotel was clean, and the rooms were large and comfortable. Everything we needed was in the room, including a kettle, and water was refilled regularly and in ample supply. The bathroom had all the essentials: dental kits, shower gel, soap, shampoo, and body lotion. We used the laundry service, which was fast and good quality. The hotel restaurant was a bit disappointing; it was expensive, and one of us was served spoiled ramen. They did apologize profusely and didn't charge us for it, though. I wasn't keen on the coffee at breakfast – it was instant, not from a coffee machine. For our early check-out, they packed us very tasty and generous lunch boxes. The pool area isn't huge, but it's quite nice. Overall, the hotel is decent and pleasant, and the staff are very professional.From€69

My stay at the Ambassador Hotel in New Delhi was a very special and welcoming experience.
The location of the hotel is right next to the “Khan Market” metro station, in a central area but yet quiet and peaceful. The room and facilities are of a high standard, and the breakfast offers a wide variety, including Indian specialties as well as Western options.
As it is my first time visiting India, I had many inquiries, the front office team (Wasi, Tashi, Nipaisn, Kishan, Vansh, and the Front Office Manager Lakshay Nirvla) were very patient and helped me navigate in Delhi. Furthermore, after checking out, I had difficulty booking trains for my next destination, but they all helped. Thanks to them, I had all my journey arranged, including taxi drivers and train tickets.
I usually don’t write reviews of my hotel stays, but this wonderful experience and the warm-hearted people I met here truly made the difference. I warmly recommend this hotel for its location, facilities, food, and, most of all, its amazing team.From€68

The hotel is a decent property located at a prime location in New Delhi. The rooms are a tad bit small and look a little dated. The house keeping team does a fantastic job of cleaning up each day and it feels good to be back to a well made bed and clean room after a long work day. The key cards seem to be a recurring issue with them needing repeated activation. Breakfast spread is decent and not much to brag about. In room dining is pretty expensive and is quite a deterrent. For a five-star hotel, the rooms are really small. The staff is overly meticulous, constantly bombarding you with questions like if everything is okay or if you're satisfied. When you just want to enjoy dinner at the restaurant, these endless questions about whether everything is good become quite annoying. And if they mess something up, consider your dinner ruined! The service is top-notch, breakfasts are good, and housekeeping is excellent. The hotel is old, and the furniture in the rooms is dated, but it's kept very clean. The service definitely earns 5 stars, even if the room itself doesn't quite live up to that. However, compared to other hotels in India, this one is quite good. Of course, for this price in another country, you'd get a completely different room, but here, you're probably paying a premium for safety, a clean lobby, safe food, and clean water. A drawback is the restaurant prices; the food is unreasonably expensive. Since it's not safe to go outside the hotel, you're forced to eat there, which I assume the hotel counts on. I also dislike the pushy assistants who are always expecting tips.From€52

Room
Very clean! Bed and pillows are comfortable. I chose one that’s far away from the lift, and on high floor with a city view. It was very quiet, and nice natural light!
Shower and toilet were very clean. Strong powerful shower with very hot water available.
Amenities
Impressive that there’s a cafe that’s opened 24/7 downstairs that serves coffee, pastries and cakes. Gave a very good option in the middle of the night, and early morning should you need to grab something fast for an early morning flight. The coffee was good.
Lovely swimming pool, meant to try it out.
Location
Excellent location only about 7 mins walk from the main shopping complex and restaurants. Very decent restaurants available there and the food court provides wide variety. I tried out a restaurant this time and it was lovely.
Service
House keeping - was very good. Early evening the team knocked on my door, very pleasant, and asked if I had any needs. Very thoughtful, and they tried best to make me comfortable.
I had an enquiry about the smart tv functions. The gentleman came promptly, and was very helpful.
Airport pick up
Raju was very prompt, polite and friendly. Thank you! Especially appreciated that the pick up arrangement just had a sign of the hotel, vs having your name displayed on a big sign, which isn’t the case with many other hotels. Very thoughtful.
(Others: Don’t really need two tables in the room. If it can be replaced with a couch/ sofa would even be better.)

◼︎ **Access**
About a 15-minute Uber ride from the airport. I stayed two nights here – one on my arrival day late at night, and another for an early morning flight on my departure day. It's truly close to the airport, which was great for taking a shower and resting before a long flight.
◼︎ **Room Cleanliness**
I'm a bit of a germaphobe, but there wasn't a single thing that bothered me. (Literally, not a speck of dust!) The entire room was clean, and I had a very comfortable stay.
◼︎ **Concierge Hospitality**
This was the most satisfying aspect of my stay. Just before my trip, the national rail train tickets I booked through an agency were suddenly canceled, leaving me in a bind. The concierge immediately arranged replacement tickets for me. I expected to pay a hefty service fee, but they actually secured tickets that were cheaper than what I had originally booked myself. They also provided detailed information on how to access Delhi's tourist attractions, which really helped me enjoy my sightseeing. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the concierge.
◼︎ **Hotel Surroundings**
There's a 24-hour restaurant within the hotel, and the Aerocity shopping mall (or something similar) is right next door, so finding food is never an issue. Also, perhaps due to recent terror concerns, there are security gates with luggage checks for all vehicles and guests entering the hotel, which made me feel very safe during my stay. The surrounding area also felt reasonably safe, even late at night.
◼︎ **Overall Impression**
If I ever come to Delhi again, I will definitely book this hotel.From€154

Stayed at Andaz Hyatt Delhi and had a very pleasant experience overall. The hotel has a resort-style atmosphere that feels relaxing despite being in the city near to airport, and the service throughout the stay was consistently good. Security was also reassuring, making the environment feel safe and well-managed.
The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-designed, the sliding full size mirror between bathroom and bed is a plus point. The room is equipped with day and night curtain.
However, there are a couple of areas for improvement — the bathroom floor can be quite slippery and would benefit from better anti-slip measures, and the breakfast area tends to get very busy, resulting in queues for tables during peak hours. Overall, still a very enjoyable stay with strong service and comfort. 🙂From€103

This hotel is located in an alleyway near Novotel Place. The alleyway is a bustling market during the day and a night market at night, very lively but also noisy. The advantage is that it's great for shopping, but the disadvantage is that parking is difficult!
The hotel sign is quite large and eye-catching. There are staff directing traffic and assisting with luggage at the entrance, which is very helpful. Upon entering the lobby, you'll find it spacious. There are currency exchange counters and travel information/sales on the right-hand side. The staff at the counters are very friendly and helpful, providing detailed explanations!
The hotel has an elevator. I stayed on the 3rd floor, in a room at the back. Upon entering the room, there was a strong smell of smoke. The room size was just right for one person. Besides the bed, there was a small chair and table, which was convenient. However, the bathroom mat and water ladle were extremely dirty, and even the toilet paper roll was stuck together – it was really awful! The whole room didn't feel very clean!
Breakfast was served in the restaurant on the first floor at 7:30 AM, but it was delayed by 5 minutes. The breakfast was extremely basic, with only five items; there was no milk, juice, or toast. Coffee and tea were served in small cups and had to be ordered from the staff. The coffee machine on the bar was unusable. Adding breakfast to the accommodation fee was very unreasonable; the breakfast was terrible!
The accommodation fee, including breakfast, was NT$1210 per person. It wasn't cheap, nor was it expensive. I didn't expect luxurious or overpriced services, but basic cleanliness was essential! I left a review on Google, but the response I received didn't make me feel that the hotel valued its guests. Instead, they assured me they would take it seriously and that such things wouldn't happen, which was quite disappointing!From€12

The original Anzhen Delhi, after changing the self-operated brand, the price is close to the people. Kerry Hill's classic work, the light and shadow effect of the corridor is very good, you can see the design inspiration of Tokyo Anzhen here. Fully equipped, very close to Humayun’s Tomb. For breakfast, let people forget to be in India.From€198
