Focal Local Bed & Breakfast

Focal Local is located in an authentic old Bangkok 'alley/street' and has been refurbished with 'antique' style and reverence to historic modes of decoration. The walls to the patios are painted in vivacious Thai-colours that radiate light. Breakfast, (western or thai), is ample, well presented and delicious. The omelette chef is wonderful! An additional delight is the Grandmother's house, open at weekends. For anyone who loves vintage and nostalgia, one can step in to 1930s style, sit down, and savour an assortment of teas, and thai cakes. I was prepared a splendid display, with special touches, that eshewed elegance and taste. There are savoury options too. The ambience is a treat. You are living in those moments, 1930s style. Do go. Finally, to mention, that, the family offer you a complementary 5 minute ride in a tuk tuk to arrive at the BTS station in the morning when you step out to explore. From there you have access to the entire BTS network, and the free river crossing from Icon Siam to Saphan Thaksin. The latter is the Oriental hotel side of the Chao Praya river. I feel that the only location to stay is in old Bangkok, as each year I go, I see something devoured by a glitzy skyscraper, meticulously constructed to appear as though it could fall down. By the river, you see the canals and you see lives still lived alongside water. Your whole experience is nourishment. Indeed an education! Go stay at Focal Local and experience 'the real' with Karan and his family.

I have confess I was forced to give 5 stars because I had no other option. This B&B deserves more than 5 stars!!! By far the best I’ve ever stayed. Fantastic room, above par service, amazing breakfast, extremely reasonable. Friendliest staff. Definitely will return.

Starting with a very healthy and cold lemongrass welcome juice! The location is little bit out of tourist hub but we had a wonderful time. The staffs are very kind and helpful, manager has well communication and hospitality experience. Room was clean, great with big enough bathroom, minibar, air condition and tea coffee maker kettle. Room decorated as boutique that was amazing. Breakfast wasn’t buffet but many choices and heavy enough so worthy. Definitely recommend!

Exceptional bed and breakfast .Everything was faultless .Rooms very large ,very clean.Breakfast offers western or Thai food .Recommend Thai breakfast .Karan is a wonderful host whom goes out of his way to ensure you are welcomed and feel comfortable throughout your stay .Very lovely friendly neighbourhood with cafes/restaurants small walkable distance away .Train station walkable distance but free tuk tuk provided if required to the station .We would return and stay here again without hesitation .We stayed in a double deluxe room upper floor .Nice seating areas to sit outside .Plenty of supermarkets very close to property .Thank you to all at Focal Local for a memorable stay

Our first trip to Asia, and this was our first place to sleep. The breakfast was superb! Eat the thai breakfast, not the western. It tastes so good. We were welcomed by the friendliest staff. They took great care of us. It felt like we were on a 5 star hotel. Never been to one, but we loved it. It was outside the main things in Bangkok, but it is just a little tuk tuk ride away. And then we got the pleasure to eat very good food for a very good price, and everyone is nice and welcoming in the area. We will come back next time we are in Bangkok!

Amazing services! Great and fresh breakfast every morning! Cute little place to stay for short trips and easy to take local transportation

To get the one downside out of the way first: Focal Local is not in the heart of the tourist attractions of Bangkok, but in a quieter area (all relative, you’re still in city after all). To mitigate this, they offer a free tuktuk to either the BTS skytrain or the main pier nearby (both are a 5min tuktuk ride or a15-20min walk away). What stands out at FL is the two things mentioned in the title: the staff couldn’t be friendlier or more helpful, and the attention to detail really stands out. They try to think of everything that’s helpful and make your stay the best they possibly can offer. Truly amazing imho. Just a lovely place, would obviously recommend and come again etc. Thank you all at FL for making our stay the best
