The Commodore Inn

Called in here for some food, board stated that it was tomatoes and basil soup when it came to table it was mushroom and cold, decor leaves something to be desired, needs updating, waited a while for food, whilst waiting we saw one team member go to use the toilet with apron on he must have worked in the kitchen and another person with a towel in his pocket which is total unacceptable when on premises which sell food, the only good thing I can say is the chips were hot. Would not go here again.

my husband and I were in pub at lunch time on 26th of august our 52nd wedding anniversary lunch was excellent , very tasty and good portions very good service worth the price staff were lovely will go back again also recomend the chicken in bun with chips ,onion rings ,salad in chicken in bun, husband says beef burgers delicious also in bun with chips salad and onion rings

Stayed here for one night. In many respects, it’s was a great place to stay but I’ve only given 3 stars because there were a few things which let it down somewhat. The good things were the bedroom was clean and well presented, having been recently redecorated and it had a great view over the bay. Comfortable bed and helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast was also nice. A few areas that weren’t so good. The shower in the room fluctuated between very cold or very hot, so not really useable and the curtains didn’t fit the windows properly, as well as being thin, so let a lot of light into the room. Breakfast wasn’t served till 9, which wasn’t communicated to me on arrival. Not a massive problem, but we’d hoped to get away a bit earlier. Overall, we felt the cost of £115 per night was a bit steep for a good, but not brilliant place to stay.

Stayed here to attend a wedding reception at the Netherwood hotel. While its not quite the same size it was great to relax on the terrace watching the world go by then walk through the park. Room was clean and tidy and while it was small, it did everything we wanted it for and the view was in a class of its own. Slept with the curtains open and to see the sun rise over the bay was wonderful. The staff were warm and friendly.

We came here twice - once for a drink during the day and it was very quiet and lacked any kind of atmosphere unfortunately. The staff however were very friendly. We tried a second time for food - it was nice enough although expensive for the portion size/quality. Again the staff were lovely but despite it being busier it still lacked atmosphere. I’m not sure what it was about the place but everyone was talking in hushed tones. It’s a shame given the location and the fact it’s the only proper pub in Grange.

Avoid if you wish to shower. No warm/hot water when tried to use shower between 6.15 to 7.15 pm, freezing cold. When reported advised will reset boiler? And kitchen washing up and others using shower. Manager very helpful and out of his control. Never been away for night and not had shower. Had restaurant booked for 7.30

Great stay at the Commodore Inn. Great location, great venue, fab food and amazing staff. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The room we stayed in was The Porthole and has a huge window giving fantastic views of Morecambe Bay

The pictures on the website are not like that in reality. Rooms were small. No drawers in our room for clothes to taken out of cases. We had 1 bedside lamp the other guests had no bedside lights. Showers not great and our shower curtain was really grubby. Food was lovely and staff in the bar were great. Breakfast was a complete miss! Items missing. Food cold. Had lattes the first morning then told they didn’t do lattes at breakfast on the 2nd morning. Only for another couple to get lattes about 20 mins later. So as a pub and restaurant it’s good but the rooms need a serious makeover!

Great views great value . This is my 3 rd review and I still rate this hotel . It is comfortable and friendly and the views from our Room are fantastic . Incredible value and super breakfast too . Can’t understand the bad reviews . the Commodore has lots of character, as it is a very old building and of course if you like modern minimalistic hotels the Premier Inn might be better for you . BTW We found the bed very comfortable and the shower was really good too . We are fit but over 70 . A great place out of season for a short break . Great walking and cycling too and of course lots of wonderful places are nearby ( Cartmel Priory Windermere etc … Will be coming again .
