Asterias Village

Everyone at the hotel is super friendly and would’d come back

Hotel is located in an excellent position for the 2 villages, just inside Koutouloufari and straight into Piskopiano where there are plenty places to eat of good quality including shops for provisions, not all were open as just at start of season. Hotel offers free mini bus from top of stairs into Hersonissos resort, 3 times a day. Arrival – booked with Jet 2, dropped off at top of stairs, next to restaurant (this is where you will eat your evening meal if booked half board), leave luggage here, hotel will take it to your room, by van. One of 2 ways down to reception, yes very steep, some rooms located either side of steps, limited privacy, can be noisy, overlooked by restaurant, late/dearly arrivals/departures, general footfall. Parking opposite hotel, or on road, or at bottom of hotel, if parking inside hotel, some cars stalled when coming up bank, be aware if using this to leave hotel if on foot, there are some steps. Pay up front for safety deposit located in room 2 Euros a day, and room tax 7 Euros per room a day ( personally do not think the hotel warrants 4 star rating, also effects tax price). Others have already commented on rating being too high. Staff are pleasant. Room Cleaned every day very basic clean, bedding towels changed every second day. Rooms spread out in blocks, if you get one near the top of road, you don’t have to deal with steep decline unless using bar/reception (which has library to leave/take books, rep’s board and information books, Jet2 rep did visit), pool, or looking at small church next to pool. Rooms are noisy, can hear neighbours, be aware of this, already mentioned. Food Breakfast all buffet, not best quality food, plenty of choice, including fresh fruit, not fresh juice, served next to bar. Evening meal choose from Al-la carte menu same as offered to passing customers, service slow even when restaurant is empty, you get starter, main course and dessert, not a large amount of choice, fine for 7 days, but any longer could be a bit repetitive, it is good value if upgrading to half board from self catering. Did not buy drink at bar, restaurant prices not too bad. While it was term time for schools, there were still more school age children of different nationalities at hotel, another thing to be mindful of if trying to get away when the children are supposed to be back at school. Issues Noise from other guests, included damage to rooms, hotel and private property in and around hotel. Hotel said was one off, but happened again on second week, and they were not British. While there were apologies from staff, they acknowledged that there were several complaints, already made, what we would call ant-social behaviour in the UK. Jumping in pool, in middle of night leaving a mess, damage, drunken behaviour, noise, loud music, throwing rubbish around, gathering around one room to party, kicking footballs around, encroaching on other people’s balconies, but they were allowed to stay. Asterias Village is a very attractive resort and well placed for the many bars and restaurant's in Koutouloufari & Piskopiano. All the staff, from reception, bar, restaurant and cleaners are very friendly & helpful at all times. Unfortunately our stay was very disappointing because of the room we were allocated. We paid extra for a sea view, and our view was of an electricity pylon. The room was dark, small & unattractive. I complained to reception who were kind enough to find another room in the main building, but we had to wait a couple of days to move. The second room was better than the first, but still not of a high standard. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of storage,( unlike the first room), the window in the bedroom looked on to main staircase so we had to keep the curtain shut all the time. The kitchen equipment was good, but the crockery was minimal and dated. The bathrooms in both rooms were extremely poor, when showering the whole space was covered with water, they really could do with an upgrade. Our balcony was side on to the hotel and looked over a service area and building next door. In the service area was a huge air conditioning unit that was noisy & smelly from fumes, also our a/c unit leaked water on to the area outside our balcony door, which we had to step over each time. The pool area is very attractive with plenty of sunbeds and good bar, but we personally didn't find it very relaxing to have music played all day long. At breakfast time it was very gentle, but the volume went up for the rest of the day, and the soundtrack never seemed to vary. Its nice to have gentle background music, but all day thumping music is too much, a break in the afternoon of a couple of hours would be more relaxing for guests. Also many people listen to their own music. I'm sure there are some nicer rooms at Asterias if you are lucky enough to be allocated one.

We had a lovely holiday here, our first time to this resort. On arrival we were allocated a land view studio as per our booking, the view was just of trees and although this was per our booking I requested to move to another room with a better view if possible. Panos on the reception was super helpful and was able to move us to room 90. Still land view but so much nicer and brighter which made our 2 week stay so lovely. We paid for breakfast which was great, plenty of choice, yogurt, toast jam and various hot options. Staff at this hotel are so friendly, linen changed every other day. The new pool with comfy loungers were great with no sunbed reserving. Overall loved this place and we would book again as the villages are traditional and authentic Greek which we love.

Just returned from 11 nights at Asterias Village. The complex is outstanding, apartments have everything you need, the pool area is pleasant and the staff are polite and always willing to help. Koutouloufari is a fabulous place to holiday with many excellent restaurants and bars.

Superb hotel with staff friendly. Lovely setting and rooms maintained and cleaned regularly. Pool is beautiful, accompanied by a lovely bar. Loads of options outside of the hotel to eat and drink in and a shuttle bus to take you down the hill. Would stay there again.

It is our second visit to Asterias Village. We had a superior room which was immaculately clean and had water views. The hotel staff are very friendly and made us feel at home. Nikos at the pool bar is a great guy. The pool area upgrade looks fab with lovely Bali beds. We love the location of the hotel in Koutouloufari /Piskopiano up in the hills overlooking Hersonissos, with loads of traditional family run tavernas serving delicious food. We had breakfast in the hotel and went out to different tavernas for dinner every night. The hotel does a daily shuttle down several times a day to Hersonissos ( near the port and beach). We were glad to be staying up in Koutouloufari rather than the main town of Hersonissos, as it has a very chilled vibe with loads of tavernas on our doorstep. We have made friends with many of the owners and staff working at the tavernas.

We recently stayed at Asterias Village for 9 nights and we wished it had been longer! We were highly recommended this place and I'm so glad we came. The hotel does have alot of steps so keep that in mind! Perfectly positioned in between Koutouloufari and Piskiapano with so many beautiful restaurants and tavernas along the roads! We never had a bad meal in any restaurants. Never 'double' dined as too many to choose from. The hotel staff were lovely and always friendly too..couldn't fault them...maid service daily too. Rooms very clean and tidy and basic...just what we wanted. We were self catering and there was plenty to use in the room. Pool area was gorgeous with no trouble getting a sun lounger and plenty of shade too! Towel hire if needed too. We truly had the best time at this hotel and we would definitely return. The village is just perfect with lots yo see and plenty to see if you go into Hersonisoss too. Well done Asterias Village!
